The uller doesn't have jump jets fixed in its base configuration. Take the Thor, it does, and the jump jets are not removable.

This is easily one of the outright dumbest rule carry overs from table top, and I wish someone would kill it to death with fire.

(The ire is not aimed at you Doc, you're just be helpful and informative.)

I can change the entire omni-pod, removing limbs and heads willy nilly.

Can't remove jump jets.

...yeah

JJs being modular make no sense in the first place.

Vectored thrust bottles, fueled by a fusion reactor, with control surfaces to needed to have any remote chance of going where you want.

It's why my argument has long been that Omni Pod JJs should act less efficiently, as 1 class less efficient than a hardwired one.

Let's see what one can put in 6.5 tons.

3 CERML + 2 CSRM4 + 1.5 ton SRM ammo which equals to 19 volley.

Sounds reasonable for 25 ton mech.

Lol. Isn't it great looking back at previews for crappy mechs? 10 months later... the Mist Lynx is still a ****** mech.

I think my favorite part is how 18 people "liked" his comment. How little we often know...

I think any mech lighter than the Summoner should be given the freedom to unlock or at least reposition every single piece of additional equipment and weaponry on it.

Which means locked DHS, JJ's, CAP.
This would make a huge impact on some of the underdog mechs, Summoner, Nova, Shadowcat, Mist Lynx, Kitfox would benefit the most from it.

Adder got its flamer finally unlocked so there is that, why not go all the way?

But then I see a discussion where Russ is talking about giving sub-250 engines full 2.0 dhs up to 10 heatsinks on Twitter, which would be amazing for the majority of IS lights, and a handful of mediums too.

Then there is the whole discussion about Endo/FF swaps, which I like the most.

It's a bloody 25 ton mech! What else did you expect without heavy quirks? I knew exactly what I was talking about.

7.5 tons of pod space with 6 JJs and an XL175?

Assuming you're sassing the Shadow Cat, given that three lasers and a couple of missile launchers is about the most guns you can do and you've been giving the poor Shadow Cat grief?

because I have a 3x cERSL, 2x cSRM-6 Lynx that's actually a surprisingly nasty little knife-fighter. Not nearly as effective as the Cheetah is now, of course, but I had several 500+ damage games in the thing. Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal, of course, and I don't normally agree with anything Bandito says/does/thinks/wears...but in this instance I'd have to ask what else you reasonably want out of a 25-tonner myself.

Wait... This is unintentionally the funniest thing I've seen all day!

20 tons heavier... same hardpoints!

Aaaaaaaand we're back to "anything that can't kick out a 60-point alpha is total garbage."

I am so looking forward to this new rebalancing effort. Even if it ends poorly, at least for now it's a ray of hope.

I did do some testing earlier with the Myth Lynx in regards to ECM-AP mechanics.

When you counter with ECM, you keep the 180M Counter distance, even when you have AP equipped, which would otherwise counter ECM to 240M. Other benefits (25% target info, +200M sensor range) seem to be intact, but the AP counter distance is completely disabled.

If they don't want to remove it as hardwired...they could improve it. At minimum, when swapping from Disrupt to Counter, make it use the 240M counter range of the AP.
Perhaps adding some additional features as well (like a 120-150M Seismic that lets you target through walls, act as a sensor probe).

If they wanted to make it worth it...there was the idea to combine the counter distance when testing this. Make the counter distances additive, so a 420M counter, or somewhere between there and 180M.

It may sound significant, but look at the mechs that can use both ECM and Streaks.
  • Myth Lynx (not much tonnage)
  • Cute Fox (can effectively do it with 2 packs)
  • Hankyu (tonnage issues, but better than Lynx)
  • ShadowCat (Biggest buff, has some tonnage+most missile hardpoints w/ECM also good speed)
  • Loki (only 2 racks with ECM, not worth it over LAZORS)

IS has some as well, but with sub 300M range, it's less meaningful. No one complains about SSRM2s either. But that's another thread.

Buff or remove...I'd prefer my extra heatsink. Fixing TrueDubs also gives another 2.0 dissipation, which would be grand.

I hadn't compared it to the SadCat...you have a point. They are similar...but the Lynx can take 4 ERMLs (which is my preferred loadout, or 4 SPLs).

I find the 11.8M spread of non-artemis cSRM6s is a tad excessive...and you don't want to be too close with this robot (both as a 25 tonner and big arse arms).

The Shadow Cat does get better jets, more armor, and vastly superior hardpoints on the Lynx. SRM spread reduction would definitely be nice - as would LRM spread reduction, frankly - but that's not really a Lynx/Cat problem. The real problem with the Lynx, at this point, is that the Cheetah just flat-out 100% obsoletes the everlovin' hell out of it. Which makes sense as that's exactly what the Clans designed the Cheetah to do, but still. Faster, equivalent jets, better hitboxes, better armor, better weapons in enormously superior hardpoints...the Cheetah just breaks the Lynx over its knee like it's in a Batman comic.

Removing the active probe might make the Lynx objectively better compared to the pre-probe Lynx, but it does nothing for the fact that the Cheetah outclasses it in literally every respect I can think of save raw model size. What might be a better idea is emphasizing the Lynx's electronic warfare/scouting aspects via the upcoming, hopefully-much-improved quirks system. if the Lynx gets heavy additional benefits from its integrated probe, possibly stronger ECM, potentially better onboard electronics in general...well, the Cheetah would still walk up its face and down its backside without issue, but at least the Lynx could sorta pretend to have a niche the Cheetah doesn't cover.

With the probe removed, the Lynx can do 4 ERMLs better, with similar heatsinks, but heat quirks.

That's without ECM or high mounted lasers. If they got a 20% heat quirk (10% general 10% ER specific split between whichever arms) it would be acceptable in the current state, without fixing PoorDubs or the AP in the head.

Also returns the 13.5 heat ERPPCs, which were taken away. Cheetah also wins there...

How about let's take that further and stuff weapons into arms or torso as we like on it, too. What we could do with torso mounted energy weapons in a Summy... Even with all that I still doubt it'd be OP. Oh how I'd love to see cries "OP OP!" for a day regarding it.

We'll get the 1 Soon™...but there weren't any LegoMech hardpoints.

Don't think there were any others for the Lynx, though. Only a handful remaining, not enough for each mech.

Its about time the MLX CAP got the "flamer treatment", if you get what I mean.

It could really use some more omnipods as well.....running ECM on this 'mech just gimps it out.
