No actualy I have been playing online games for over 20 years and with the lag experienced in todays games is sad. One would think that in 20 years they would have mastered the internet. In my line of work if i had not mastered my craft in 20 years I would have been out of business long ago. poor code is poor code.
Me too and I'm impressed what is possible given the physical limitations. The MWO code is better now than it's ever been. HSR kinda works.

The internet was designed to be resilient, not low latency,

Could be worse, could be satellite.

Just to add a situation... What is fair about me running across a gap that, to my screen, is clear of enemies.. only to be destroyed by an enemy firing from that gap that didn't show up on my screen because they were there 'after' I passed the gap?

I've Never had this happen. No matter were I was playing from.

Can't tell you how many times I have had a PPC come through the rocks to kill me :o(

Yet from my experience people wih low pings appear to should have been hit but don't register at all

I have to say, I play around 150 ping all the time, and I have never seen such thing as shots from nowhere (even in the early days, mechs were teleporting, but they were there when they fired). I don't even have to think about ping usually.
But there are some very rare matches when mechs teleport back and forth, and still, it either passes and gets normal soon, or comes to a devastating server lag that actually ends the match either in the favor of those who lag less, or just freezing the match down for ever.
Am I lucky or it just takes more than 150 to feel the ping?

I have 30-40 ping. I like how a spider can alpha and single shot destroy my kitfox legs but he stands still and I pump 20 damage into him 6 times and he is only yellow.

I LOVE seeing the guys post "I have pings 150< all the time and I'm not affected"...exactly....the...point...of...the...thread...
reminds when guys we played with back 10 years ago had on board sound, 1.2 processors 500 megs memory and couldn't understand why we complained about PC server based lag...

My ping is low to mid 30's and I get slingshotted across the map a couple times a night, sometimes 4-5 times a night.....
and like a slow motion bitchslap! I can see it coming....I spot a guy walking in place, my zoom quits working....the whole thing lasts as long as 30-50 seconds

While being concerned about hacking is absolutely a valid concern, Planetside 1 and 2 have been using CSHD for years and instances of hacking are very, very rare. Countermeasures can be put in place!

And honestly I don't see the BT community resorting to that. Well. Mostly.

I'm sorry but as a long time Planetside 2 player thats so untrue its scary. Wall hacking and aim botting are endemic. I fraps regularly for our debriefs and videos and theres nothing like catching someone teleporting so you can report them with first hand evidence they can't ignore. The security team always says they won't use it but it shows the problem neatly for them and they can then ghost the player to watch their behaviour and use statistics to detect abnormal behaviour.

Heres how business works in the world.
IF you can't supply a product, make a profit, you go out of business.
If they are losing money hand over fist, then fold and let us move on.
Quit milking us a little at a time until that final, some might think PLANNED day happens.
You can't run a server for .5 mil a month, but you sure can make car payments and buy motorcycles for what the game is making.

52mbps down / 48mbps up connection.

140-170 ping with very little packet loss.

Biggest problem for me is usually trying to hit lights with lasers or slow moving projectiles like NARCs, ac10, ac20. For lasers, HSR can't seem to compensate enough to give me much actual beam time on a light mech. For NARC beacons and ac20s, it's a roll of the dice as to where the server decides the round is in relation to the light mech.

You essentially just justified their business model as they're making money atm.

You also talked gibberish so that might not have been your intention. :D

Thats desync and I had it for about three months then it totally stopped with the last hotfix a few days ago. Have you reported it as Russ was asking anyone still experiencing them to contact him? It worked brilliantly for me and I've not had a single instance since.

yes, I've contacted, yes I've tried the things...this is the only game I play, however my son plays about four other high demand type games, and zero problems there.

I also liked the previous two comments cause I do talk gibberish sometimes...its the by product of teenage sons.

If you want higher ping there are programs like http://jagt.github.io/clumsy/ that will fix that for you.

I haven't bought anything from them for a year and it's perfectly playable for me. This is one of the most generous F2P games around - no "pay to win" mechanic unlike many other F2P games.
