The Charger only makes sense if it can charge to do damage (hence the name) like it does in tabletop BattleTech. If so, its quirk should probably be taking little or no damage from collisions. The Zeus is one of the better-known canon 'mechs and has a truckload of variants, but if we get a new assault 'mech I'd prefer it to be from the higher (closer to 100 tons) than the lower end of the assault spectrum, otherwise I'd rather get a high-end heavy 'mech like the 75-ton Black Knight. The Cyclops is interesting, especially the CP-11C built in 3050 which has a C3 Master computer. Since C3 doesn't exist in MWO (it's not needed because every 'mech has C3-like abilities), it can be replaced by a command console, Beagle active probe and/or ECM.

I know there is no hope for the Charger, if so that means the Cyclops has to win. Its an former SLDF Inner General 'Mech, so everybody has it. It even appears on the Com Guard Unit Allocation table from the Tukayyid scenario pack...

The "original" Charger is an overengined piece of scrap that would likely end up XL engine in MWO instantly and strapped with lasers ala the old Awesome speedboats.

There's a much slower Awesome wannabe in the form of the -SB, and the other variants that'd likely make it in are the -1A5 and -1A9. The -1A5 can do Atlas style brawling with it's AC/20 + SRMs and laser, while the -1A9 comes with jump jets, ups four small lasers to mediums and replaces the fifth with an LRM 20. Both are base 320 engines instead of the oversized 400.

To Charger, and thereby force PGI's hand and make them finally fix collisions...

Something to consider for this vote -

Charger is garbage, through and through. Something better can be found for 80t.

Zues is just a 5t heavier and weightclass up (think 3-3-3-3) Orion, or a Really light Atlas.
Still can find better for 80t I'm sure.

Cyclops may be just yet another light Atlas / heavy Orion, but at least it's got 90t to do it with.

Russ .... come on man. Is this poll the result of a bar discussion on which terribad mech would the community tolerate best? Clan mechs (while not "QQOP!") are tough nuts to crack. In the time of Clan vs IS, we need our Clanbusters, not the Assaults that were specifically designed to avoid the fight (see: charger fluff) or by PGI's engine rules, going to be slow as dirt.

...and no, I don't have those better suggestions on hand. I'm not a walking BT repository like some of my unit mates. As the poll goes, I'm merely referring to what is currently being voted on.

Keep it up though guys. Love what you do, despite the community's constant uproar.

Russ - if this poll has any sort of significance outside of just "satisfying your curiosity," then maybe it could get a link on the front page and/or launcher :-D

Your point?

Uh... I thought I was pretty clear that I was responding to the whole "Orion pilots being made fun of" bit. To which I was inquiring if your the one making fun of us, but...

Point, and fact, is, the mech was salivated over, hyped up, and now is an afterthought.

Yeah, I used to see a lot more Orions until the Clans Mechs rolled out. It doesn't have the speed or firepower advantage that XL friendlier I.S. heavies have vs Clans. I hope the new quirks do something to turn this around.

So we don't have enough slow, heavily armored mechs yet? I voted Charger simply because it is fast with JJ's. The Cyclops certainly has a place in cannon, but only if it was able to utilize the electronics it was designed for, i.e. C3 targeting system. With out the C&C gear, its just another big slow mech with a unique visual design. Of course, the Charger would fare better if we had melee/knock down. Just sayin...

The Zeus seems to be the only chassis of three that didn't have mediocre or lack luster in its description.

Might have to, Zeus is getting awful close to Cyclops. Not that there is anything wrong with Zeus, the man who became our beloved Precentor Martial piloted one extensively, just that its not a 'Mech would have ready access too...

You have the Commando 1B which is the Commando 7X from Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries and you also have the mech that Sergeant Unther (Dead-Eye) piloted The catapult with LRM15x2 and Medium Laser x4. So I figure.. "Why not add the Zeus of which the Former Commander Colonel Holly Harris piloted before she died in the intro to MW2:M?

[EDIT]Forgot to add the reference (intro including Sergeant Unther's introduction) [/edit]

Both the zeus and cyclops are worthwhile. Charger in this game not so much.

After reading a good portion of the replies here I have come to the conclusion that people forget the amount of customization even available in MWO as well as ignore all the variants when making a choice (or in this case dismissing the Charger)

Vote changed to Charger in spite of them :P
