Game already has 2 80ton mechs, and from all the pictures I've seen of the Zeus it could be just as wide <if not wider> as they are. A new second 90ton mech makes more sense yes?

That 2nd 90ton mech will have nearly identical hardpoints/placement as at Atlas, and there are no time-line variants of the Cyclops with ECM. Also, no jumpjets, so it's not any better than the Highlander, which is another 90ton.

I'd rather have another 80 tonner with a bit more variety in its hardpoints (ZEU-5T has a PPC/energy arm rather than a ballistics arm) and a faster overall speed potential than a 90ton Banshee/Atlas clone.

Is the nostalgia that people are voting for. That is where you see the difference of people that are fans of the IP and those that are just playing a "Big Stompy Robot" game. I want my Zues!

Welp... since Charger has no chance in hell of winning, I retracted my voted and went with my second choice: Zeus.

@ Bishop. Fair nuff man. Though I could see it being the poster child for installing ECM onto an assault with the pending changes to said system. Could be touted as "Here is the poster child for the council driven ECM and the mech to prove it for the IS is a Cyclops." Barring the DDC of course.

Come Jan we will have: 100 tons: Atlas, King Crab 95 tons: Banshee 90 tons: Highlander 85 tons: Battlemaster, Stalker (derp) 80 tons: Stalker, Victor, Awesome We will have 4 mechs at 90+ tons, and 4 mechs 80-90 tons. So it's not like we "need" another heavy-end assault, especially not with the KGC coming out and everyone and their mother clamoring to play it. I'd much prefer the versatility of the Zeus over a 90 ton mech that will be overshadowed by the King Crab and Atlas-DDC.

That's the thing. They are both the same except where the weapons are. I suppose if they add an extra missile launcher to the arm maybe you could use the arm to shoot SRMs are mechs. Neither one of them jumps.

"But but but the Zeus will be just like X!!!"

"BUT but but the Cyclops is just a smaller Atlas!"

Guys... at some point we'll run out of truly different mechs beyond number and placement of hardpoints and quirks. The Zeus will be fairly similar to an Awesome, the Cyclops fairly similar to an Atlas. King Crab is going to be an upsized Cataphract.

So go with what you like.

Which is to say, VOTE MAWL-ER! ;)

Huh, the Zeus actually retook the lead for now. I was not expecting that. Go Zeus!

I just hope that the Binary Laser Cannon variant, the ZEU-6Y, gets included. Even if the mech itself wouldn't be that great, we'd have a new option for all IS mechs to use. *Cross fingers and prays to the mech god*

...How long will this poll be open, anyways?

well, I still hope we see the Charger anyway, with 6 variants in the timeline that's a lot of mechs.

I want the assault trio: Awesome, Victor and Zeus. The bigger brothers of the medium trio: Shadow Hawk, Griffin and Wolverine. Sadly we'll never see the Archer, Warhammer, Marauder trio.

Com'mon people, VOTE ZEUS!!!

Poll has been up for 3 days. Really curious if there's any significance behind it or if Russ is just rustlin' our jimmies over IS mechs.
