Am I just reading this right... that you want the legs redone... kinda like how the Jager decided to "stand up straight" a little more, except in reverse?

I honestly not sure what to think about this topic.

Edit: Done reading it through, and saw the Jagermech reference (I skipped to posting after page 2, and the relevant post was made a few posts ago...)

It looks fine. Make a Dragon thread next time, you'll get more responses.

It looks fine to me.

They don't want heavy mechs to have thin little parts that are hard to hit because that is a "light mech" advantage.

It's way better than a catapult for hit boxes so stop bitching.

All I think it could use is a tiny bend to the legs like Bishop suggested. It's not a disaster at all in my opinion, just could be a tad more aesthetically pleasing.

And as for the lasers, at some point I would like to see different hardpoints for each laser type. (different sized focusing lens, different length cooling jackets (analogue for a gun barrel))

for those excited about the Ebon Jaguar modeling, I hope you are right.....

but remember the Vulture!

And yes, 90% of it's visual issue could be fixed just by rigging the legs into a deeper squat. And new walking animation required.

Hey bishop, are we supposed to see the First two coming out very soon rendered in-game and size-compared to some of the existing mechs as well as the quirks that will be put on (or lack thereof)?

Where it went wrong for me was how I didn't care anything for the original clan mechs released.......but then were all like hey if you buy 200 bucks worth of mechs you don't want, you can have the vulture you do want.

Well he did start the thread, seems like it isn't a necro if you're the OP.

According to Russ on Twitter:

@H4RDC0R3_G4M3R @CJFmak @cimarbs we are also lowering the mad dog by one meter sometime soon -
@H4RDC0R3_G4M3R @CJFmak @cimarbs this will make the TBR to EBJ to Mad Dog all feel right in comparison with each other

I wish they extended the laser barrels as well. That would make this perfect for me. (I totally agree with Bishop's well-substantiated post)

Well, I'll chime in since this already got semi-necro'd.

I enjoyed the Mad Dog recently, up to a point. I have since sold the thing.

It wasn't because of the profile, and it wasn't because it was too tall - I actually enjoyed the height, because coupled with LRMs all you had to do was very barely expose your head and you could rain LRMs on a target that can't hardly hit you. Height is important to pull that off with most amounts of cover in the game.

No, for me, it was the lack of survivability for the side torsos.

You wouldn't think those side torsos are that big, but because the CT is *so* damned slender, and the arms are uselessly dangling knuckle-dragger versions, *plus* the fact the side torsos always have a 'bar' up on top making it easier to hit them by shooting the upper portions of the Mad Dog...most of the time I was finding my torsos popping off like they were made from Legos.

And I just couldn't stand it. I'd rather just use some of my other 'Mechs to bring LRMs, tag, and some ERML; the arms on the Mad Dog are just atrociously low, but that seems to be an ongoing Clan "feature" (aside from the Ebon Jag), so it's not unique to the Mad Dog.

It seems to me that the side torsos, at the very *least*, do not need to be so high up relative to the CT. It might be a matter of inches that I'm nitpicking here, really, but it got to the point that I found myself asking, "why do I need to have this 'Mech anymore?". And I just had no answer.

Especially when I could just grab a second T-wolf or Ebon Jaguar chassis, or even a Stormcrow really, using the same weapons loadout, and rename it the "Pentium Mad Dog", and call it all good.

In hindsight posting this, I will say, if not for the Shadowcat coming along, I would have probably made the Mad Dog my dedicated SRM brawler. If it had a TAG laser on the CT somewhere decently high up enough (mid-CT at least?), that too might have saved the Mad Dog for my hangar...but, water under the bridge by this point.

The arms seem too fragile to me, they take a lot of hits aimed at the side torso and shots that miss the CT if dead on, but I have my magic Puma till then.

have you seen the modelers art on the SCat yet? Poor kitty seems to be getting MDD STs, too. :/

I'd be delighted if the arms intercepted ST shots, actually.

Clan LRMs are so bad now the Vulture is just about useless. I wish PGI had a better concept of what 'Balance' is. I would lean more to the side where everyone is complaining, especially about LRMs which have a large contingent of players who permanently oppose them. Players complaining is a sign something is working actually. Now the only marginally effective Clan LRM config I know of is LRM15x4 which is a total boat, not what you want. Either MWO has reasonable LRM loadouts or just remove them. Players can always go back to dodging LRMs periodically, it's how you play MechWarrior really.

MWO's Vulture's stance is too tall though.

Clan LRMs are bad? Try using IS LRMs that are twice as heavy, have slower projectile speed and (LRM15+) have much, much higher spread, so much so that not all of the missiles will even hit an immobile Awesome! <_<
