Bidding

There might be other ideas out there as well. I am sure people are creative.
What does everyone think? Do you have your own ideas? Do you think it is a waste of time? Would you encourage PGI to allow some mechs to power down as a part of role and game-play with Clan units? Please, share!

Remember that even a unit of 12 will be bringing 48 mechs (1 in each weight class. I personally would have preferred a tonnage limit), and so you can really fine tune the bidding process.

The only way to do it would be within a unit's Galaxy with mutliple Star Captains that had multiple "Supernovas" available at the time.
When they implement Clan vs. Clan I assume that this will happen more often, with 12 man drops one way or the other.

That was my general idea, yes.

Paul said specifically "Clan vs Clan and IS vs IS will be part of Phase 2" or something like that.

That is when the real fun begins!
I love honorable combat, and would like to see a more loose interpretation of Zellbrigen (not a series of duels, but a more free skirmish in which every warrior chooses an opponent and fights 1on1 ). However, the Clans have fought among themselves for almost 300 years, time for a change, quiaff?

To recap the stated CW rules:
- you attack or defend
- you enter with a unit (assume less than 12)
- the next unit of appropriate size is added to make 12
- you drop
- you earn a "point" towards the goal.
- this continues for 24 hrs of battles.
- you are successful (from a CW standpoint) based on the points earned
How do you decide who "sits out" while being occupied for the 15 minute game?
Assume for argument a 10 man and a 2 man both drop. Those in the large group might agree to have 3 sit out. But I doubt the 2 man will agree to be among those sitting aside. And since it will effect in game currency (C-bills), I doubt the 2 man will be happy finding yet were part of a severely handicapped drop they had no say in.

That's why you want all or as many of pilots to be on one TS3 server.

The trials in discussion are not in relation to blood name trials. This thread is talking about trials of possession of planets. When a group gets the right to drop because they bid 8 mechs, and they get the drop with 4 others who might not cooperate or don't know what's going on, problems will happen.

If this is all occuring on the clan wolf server with clan wolf players than it is possible to do. Now adding (Shudders) clan jade falcon, Ghost bear, Wolverine, etc. would make it more difficult, but lets face it the clans as a whole have been more organized than the IS side since 1989. So I do not see this a such an insurmountable problem. Just remember the KISS method and go forward from there.
