I'm sure it was said before, but I'll say it again.
PGI, please stop it that premium time gets started automatically.
If it's a gift because of a server malfunction I think it's ok when it initiates automatically, especially for those who played with premium time anyway.
But when I earn premium time due to a challenge I want to choose, WHEN I start it. There're people, which have a job and family and don't have enough time to play every day.
The other end of the arguement for this is folks who have a huge backlog of PT and don't want to activate all of it at once would rather get it immediately rather than have it banked.

That said, having the choice would be nice.

Long thread, not sure anyone's still reading.

Just wanted to say I really enjoyed this weekend's challenge. Had so much fun.

The difference to the previous one was night and day. The 1/1/1/1 rule gave a much needed balance to the matches and the 50% bonus meant the whole ordeal wasn't a total chore like last time.

The prize was tight fisted, but atleast it meant I wasn't stressing to reach tier 3, so just enjoyed the game.

time to bring out the Raven 3L?

Sadly, the rewards to me on this one are not really with it.

Yes but my OCD forbids I have any Red X's beside any challenge :|

The term OCD is over/misused way to much.

Anyway, the challenge is easy to complete. It is a lot better with the 1/1/1/1 bonus and the queue is a lot shorter because most people are doing it that way. I dislike using LRMs but this weekend made leveling my Mad Dogs a hell of a lot better with all the narc, tagging and keeping locks. Thank you PGI for this challenge and I look forward to more and preferably less number restricting group challenges.

I think you guys are missing the whole point here. All these challenges are mainly to collect some sort of data that is needed or improve this game. And they give us freebies while they are at it. Its the only way to get that sort of data.

With 3 lance of 4 pilots, 1 in each class (mostly), there will definitely have some numbers that they are looking to collect for the next balance, or to improve the MM or something.

Big problem though, most lances realised they would earn more points running whatever they wanted too and not conforming to the 1/1/1/1

Sure some people didn't do that. When I was getting the challenge completed, my lance was running the 1/1/1/1 and 90% of the matches we get dropped in are mostly doing that too (on my team atleast, didnt look that the other team) and with that sort of composition of weight class I found that the matches were pretty exciting for the most part. Got rolled a couple of times, Rolled people a couple of times but for the most part pretty balanced.

Whatever it is, the are collecting some numbers for the future implementations, Im sure of it!

I liked this challenge... But the rewards are decreasing for the effort. I would have liked the gxp to be higher like 5000 for the 2nd reward and 10,000 for the final to give players a chance to really use gxp. This is a similar problem like the achievement system.

Either the 1L/1M/1H/1A bonus was really helping, but found this challenge much easier. Admittedly half my problem with the first one was a almost empty friend list in-game, lots easier to get pug groups going this time around.

The only annoying thing about the challenge - the GXP is rewarded as intended, but the "Redeem" Prompt doesn't come up like the Premium Time...

I doubt that, average points a match were like around 30 (assists + spots). with those +50% more. ontop all the narc bonus +50%. I doubt you can exceed this in a non 1/1/1/1.

These challenges ruin the game. It is all LRMS all the time because of the scoring you use. Please stop doing challenges altogether if this is the best you can come up with. No one is having fun.

I was having fun ... guess you were wrong.

first of all, there arent THAT many lrms around compared to the tournament.
second of all 80% of the mechs out there are currently clanmechs (while i play a dragon or quickdraw....)
and then, WHY ARE YOU CRYBABIES MOAN ABOUT FREE STUFF AT ALL! be happy that there are challenges like this.
all you do is moan about FREE STUFF while other people dont even have something to eat.

i have my fun in this challenge, its all about good teamplay. then even dragons are funtastic.

Challenge complete!

Tons of our folks participated and we all pitched in to make sure everyone got the rewards. Pretty much everyone ran 1/1/1/1, so it went fairly quickly.

Yep, the rewards are kinda meager, but it seems we are getting a challenge almost weekly now, so I would imagine that is the reason why.

So, yep, I'll take that premium time and EXP, thank you very much.

The rewards from tier 2 and 3 are useless, so this time only did tier 1.

Finished up yesterday afternoon. Took a few hours in total over the weekend dropping casually with others I found over on NGNG TS. Met some nice people. Thanks to anyone I dropped with.

Really did not need the GXP but I hate not completing a challenge so I will take it.

LRM's where in play heavily as usual thanks to the scoring system but the majority of the time there was ECM in our lance so that helped negate some of it. Mad Dogs with 6x LRM5 is the new thing to run apparently, seen them regularly. SRM brawlers as well but not as often surprisingly.

Update for PGI:

I can't thank you enough for implementing the 1/1/1/1 rule!
I finally got my friends to get their act together and that's how we ran. I even played in my IV4, something I haven't done yet, and it was beautiful. It felt so good to put my 2xAC5s and have my friend join me with his 2xUAC5s on a Direwolf and just completely tear him apart... It was like sweet poetic justice for all of those Direwolf builds that have nothing but UAC5s.

Anyway I'm rambling.
3/4 of us managed to get to the first tier, which is honestly all we care about, so later tonight we will try to wrap it up for our 4th friend. I don't think we would have made it this far in the points without the 1/1/1/1 rule, and I have to say I noticed almost everyone else doing it! It was great to see properly mixed teams instead of running into the 6x Atlas (Steiner scout demi-lance) that I ran into last time. I hope you include the 1/1/1/1 rule or something similar to it if you do another challenge like this, it allowed those of us with mixed schedules or not a lot of free time the ability to catch up on points.

I didn't have a problem with "lrmageddon" like other people are having... Sure there were a few LRM heavy matches, but that's why we had ECM with us, watched the skies (UAVs), told each other when we were narced, etc. After I reached the goal I switched over to my LRM boats so my friends could get more points, so only 1/4 of us had LRMs at any given time.

There were actually quite a few times where the enemy would single me out to neutralize the threat of a LRM boat, which encouraged tactics both on their side and on my own as team mates actually tried to help me! Yes that's right! Instead of my allies running off to go play CoD shooter elsewhere on the map, thereby leaving me to fend for myself, they were actually supporting their LRM boats! I wish I would see this cooperative behavior more often even when there isn't a challenge going on...

It was nice to see team tactics play a key role in the matches that we played.
I observed a few people complaining about how cLRM boats are pay to win, blah, blah, blah, but in actuality it was because our team didn't use any kind of tactics and didn't help each other. I've observed IS 'mechs dueling Clanners and I can tell you that it really is up to the skill of the pilot. The only time I see pay-to-win come into play is when a Direwolf has 6xUAC5s that he can continuously shoot... But it's a moot point now since they are now available for c-bills. Even then it's easy to surround a D-wolf with faster 'mechs and confuse the pilot if he isn't skilled enough to focus down one target or cover his rear.

I'd still like to see some kind of LFG system in the game though PGI. I think you would dissolve a lot of the criticism I've seen if you manage to implement that.

As always; thank you for taking the time to read our comments and feedback, and thank you for actually listening to your player-base.

Yes, the 1/1/1/1 rule sure brought a different taste to the games and somehow diminished (a bit) the "lurmaggedon" verified on the last lance challenge.

The formula this time was better. Not only the points needed for each tier were brought slightly down but the 1.5x really helped on achieving everything under a decent amount of time. I am with some of my fellow mechwarriors: you should try a way where the bonus for tagging and spotting is not that pronounced.

Suggestion: Maybe I am too excited with the latest dropship mode rules regarding weight limits, but as an anticipation to that sweet upcoming (I hope) reality, why not you throw a lance event where bonus are applied to lances that fit 240 tons or less? I think that would be an awesome test.

And yes, thank you for the rewards!
