Is there anything special about the King Crab? I mean is it a unique mech or will it be coming out for c-bills after a while? The reason i ask is that i cant play MWO at this time but if the KC was a one time only mech i might buy the IS pack just for that.

If the answer to the above is yes, then does it come elited.?

Beg pardon for OT

December it comes out for MC (and the rewards one is also given out same day), and sometime in January it gets released for C-bills.

The rewards version is only going to be like the Centurion AH or the Atlas S that was recently released. They are exactly the same as the c-bill versions, but the rewards version has a 30% cbill boost, custom paint scheme and "unique geometry".

Honestly, you wont be missing out on anything by not getting the rewards version. Unless you want everything from one of the packs available (clan wave 2 or possibly even Reinforcement pack as well), don't bother and wait for the c-bill version.

The Issue is you sacrifice quite a lot firepower in % and hardly get much more HP for it. Bigger engine lets him twist better

But looking at the gargoyle reveals the question how good his torso twist abilities are to spread damage. That is my true fear, the "belly and chestpart that seems to be CT sticks out. Also the head, so it looks like the gargoyle will have a hard time to actually hiding his CT efficiently.

It might be able too, and if it can, it will make a nice addition to a combined arms lance (Star would be better) approach...

Gargoyle
Timber Wolf
Hell Bringer
Mad Dog
(Storm Crow) for Star deployment.

That's a lot of fire power, all moving at the same speed, and with the current rewards system, would pay well if they work as a team staying with in 140m of each other... But that would take better team players than what I see in PUGLife most matches, since people fail to understand team work in this game.

I will take a wait and see approach to the Gargoyle, and hopefully it will fair better than we all fear it will.

If they gave us a Star but we are stuck with a lance. The more I look at it the more I am thinking the Gargoyle lost its nich the second the IS got brawl quirks, the 1.1.1.1 drop deck died, and the final straw will be if the HB match the art work.

My question: How much will the C-Bill price be? I mean, we're talking an 80 ton omnimech with an XL400? Same price as a Direwolf or higher?

I don't see it being higher than a Direwolf, but then again I'm not certain...

Not sure, either. However, keep in mind that often an XL engine costs more than the chassis itself, and a XL400 will be hugely expensive (even for us Clan warriors .. <_< ).

I am pretty sure, that XL400 will catapult the price on DWs lvl and maybe even higher...

XL engines, though expensive, tend to get a "discount" from what I've noticed when the mech comes with said engine. It may jump the price to (or above) Direwolf levels, but at the same time it very well may not... Just have to wait and see.

Well if we use the TT pricing..

Dire Wolf Prime is 29,350,000 C-bills

War Hawk Prime is 26,425,323 C-bills

Gargoyle Prime is 26,038,312 C-bills

So, not that far apart...

With the weight difference I'd say they are inline with each other...

Once again (or ... as always ? )

First play, then talk ^^

Yes, yes, I know, theory-crafting is fun and all that and it might lead to certain conclusions, but shan´t we first take a look at what it´ll be like in real, get them mastered and then discuss about possible "whale-impeachments" ?

^^
Other than that I really look forward to trying it out with and against all o´youses naturally and see what we all can tickle out of that massively fast beast .

Until then, behave and don´t cry-post for more clan-nerfs than needed ... LOOOOOL, as if THATS ever going to happen, I know^^

The GAR won't compete directly with the DW, and using a 400XL + no Endo steel on an 80T mech is a bit daft.. its somewhat saved by the huge number of E hardpoints, but it wont be an amazing mech really.. kinda depends on hitboxes/handling if its at all viable as an alternative to the timberwolf (which is its true competition)

In a tonnage limited drop deck you're absolutely right, this will only compete with the Timberwolf and Warhawk. I'm sure it will be very effective and I look forward to getting some "seat time" in it with builds straight from my Timberwolf/Stormcrow (2 x C-LPL 4-5 C-ERML/1 x Cgauss 5-6 C-ERML/or maybe with the buffs an all-pulse laser build) but I bet its use in the solo queue will never match the more popular 'mechs.

in all honesty, in a 240 ton drop deck, with the lights clans have access to at the moment, i see almost all of them being some combination of SCRs, MDDs, HBRs and TBWs - i doubt anything heavier will be used as it will require one of the bad lights.. though its possible the Mist Lynx will mitigate that problem a little. We really need the Arctic Cheetah (the Huntsman would be nice too as a viable 50 tonner)

I'll be limiting myself to 215 tons so in my case I will be taking nothing over 75. At this point I'm almost positive I will run Timberwolf/Stormcrow/Nova/Adder.

Back when it was going to be 1/1/1/1 AND a weight limit I had my eyes on the Gargoyle as my assault since it would be nice to be able to keep up with the group and not have to run something lighter than the Adder.

any reason why you'll be limiting yourself to 215? just curious

with the mechs we have currently/for sure ill be running either HBR/HBR/SCR/SCR or MLX/HBR/TBR/TBR most likely

edit: or if im dropping with a group that wants more ECM.. MLX/HBR/HBR/WHK or KFX/HBR/HBR/TBR
