This seems to happen all the time with me, and sometimes at random.

I was just playing a game on HPG, most mechs were dead, and i'd taken some damage however kept the centre torso at 100% with no damage.

A mad dog rounds the corner about 400m away and fires what looked like lrm10 or maybe lrm20 at me.

Bang, cored straight away. Then someone else followed him and hit me with a laser in the centre and killed me.

Either it's a glitch or the hitboxes are huge or what I don't know.

Anyone else had this problem?

It was either closer than 400m and 6 SRM6, or it was 6 LRM15. But both shouldn't be able to core a DWF in one salvo, unless you have a lot of back armor.

he wasn't cored by one salvo he was stripped of armor. If I am not mistaken 6x LRM 15 are worth >90 points of damage. CLRMS are pretty tightly grouped and with a TAG in play it sure could be enough to strip the armor. Also in my view it is VERY likely that the mech that finished him also shot him before already while the LRMs were comin in.

In my view for the punch it packs the direwolf still isn't cored easy enough. It's near impossible to catch a good direwolf pilot at a front angle without getting torn to pieces by his return fire and he still would walk away with just a few scratches.

Yeah, 6 LRM15 is 99 damage, but that shouldn't all hit the CT.

Dat nose.

The hood also makes it often easy to pick and choose which hitbox you want to hit.

Its got a pretty big CT profile. A lot of hits are going to slap you in the face most of the time. But it can take abit of a beating.

And the next clan mech to come out for cbills showing its weakness. I just has a CT the size of a house and can be hit by everything that is not behind it. Can put in a ton of work on people, but can be very dependent on the team.

This is normal and actually its a lot better than when it first came out. The hitboxes are probably as good as its going to get for the DW. The issue now is that you're a big, slow moving target that everyone jumps at the chance to shoot at. In the scenario you presented you were almost certainly shot by more than one mech.

If you were being hit by missiles then it can be difficult to see all the fire that is reaching you.

In this case you saw two mechs firing. Unless they were the only two left on the opposing team, the odds are good that there were at least one or two more since in the late game the teams tend to be bunched up unless they are just running around in clean up mode. (It is especially hard to spot ECMed firers in this situation). Even a DWF drops quickly when focused by 3 or 4 opponents.

I'm doing Elites on my DWF's now. I even started my saved Premium time just to get them done faster and they are still making me want to kill myself. It's the most pointless mech ever put into MWO.
As fast and agile as a turret, and armour means very little in this game due to everyone only using the highest damage weapons or groups of smaller weapons.

And this is the mech that was named "Great death" by the IS? Maybe they meant how quickly it died...

It will always have trouble getting swarmed and people taking pot shots at it because it is slow, but once you unlock that mech tree it does feel a lot better.

Sorry to be the one to break this to you, but you are just bad at the game. Direwolf is one of the strongest if not the strongest mech in the game currently.

I like how people are slowly realizing it's not the unstoppable monster everybody made it out to be.

A Mech can be cored with 3 engine crits... 1 on each torso would do it while not actually destroying any torso. The DW CT is In fact huge...........which I am sure can be expected on a mech the size of a DW.

Considering the payload it brings to the field it needs a weakness..which is its size. It is not made of paper though as is being suggested, it is simply not hard to hit.

It probably could use some minor adjustments in regards to its hitboxes but personally I don't feel the Direwolf Is broken in anyway.

Yeah, because i find one mech terrible I must be bad at the game

Survivability comes down to speed (to get into cover) and maneuverability (to torso twist). The Dire Wolf has neither of these.

Hopefully when mastered they're better. I remember the Atlas was much better than this.

You are not good at piloting it and don't like it has nothing to do with how good it is. Chocolate bacon and lobster are disgusting.

Obviously I'm speaking from my POV so it is a bad mech...for me. But then the Atlas also sucks and lights (IS anyway) are OP. Maybe i just do better with some speed. The stock Nova Prime is an amazing mech!
