Catapult A1

Unleashing the screen shaker 5000 is a guilty pleasure of mine

Atrimis with lrms 5 is a waste of tonnage. Also, Kintro can bring 5 lrm5 with tag and back up weps.

edit: also faster, and a medium!

Any Awesome. Any Awesome. Brawlers, sniper, STD or XL all of them is fun. Mastered them all. And still playing sometimes.

Jagermech JM6-S with stock weapons. Decent range and huge dps. Shreds targets in seconds (up to about 12 seconds). Only weakness is the XL engine but people have a hard time concentrating on the torso when they are getting a face full of dakka.

My new favourite is probably the stock Nova Prime. Very hot but fits my shoot>hide playstyle very nicely and i usually get good results with it. If I'm forced into a brawl though I'm likely dead.

When I just want some kills or win, I jump into my CN9-A with TAG, 3xLRM10+A and a mlas.
It's the combination of being a fast missile boat and also being a medium, so you don't have to wait in line that makes it so easy to use.
I won't take up a precious heavy or assault slot in the PUG, but I'm not bringing something that can't contribute to the fight against the Timberwolves and Direwolves either, so I have a really good w/l ratio with that one.

I felt that what I bring do makes a difference. Assault missile boats for example take up a precious Atlas, DW or Wubshee slot, same with my LRM Catapults. If I bring that one, my team gets to bring one less TW, MD or Phract. All this for standing around and shooting lrms. Booooring.

Since most mediums are fairly bad, it's the perfect size for brining a support mech, since you are not taking the place of something that would give your team a better chance of winning anyway.

When my lights/mediums just don't seem to work, I usually take my 4 LPL CPLT-K2 for a spin. Tried it as a joke build, and fell in love!

My "crutch" Mech is definately the Spider 5d or the Jenner. Like the fast mobility and the scounting act.

Hmmm...

The 'Mechs I always have fun in are the Locust 3M, Locust 3S, and the Blackjack Arrow. Always fun, those three.

The 'Mechs I consider "crutches" are the ones that make the game incredibly easy to play. For my garage, that includes the Ember (or any Firestarter, really) and the Catapult K2. The K2 is my anti-Timberwolf, and it works well in that capacity. A more distant third place is probably the Jagermech DD. That 'Mech is just a bullet hose the way I have it set up, is durable, and packs way more ammo than a STD engine build should be able to.

When im really annoyed,i just jump into my IV-4,STD290,2 med pulse,2 ASRM6 launchers and 6-7 tons of ammo, couple of jump jets to clear the obstacles, not perfect, with higher engine cap, more torso twist or 1-2 missile hardpoints it would be great.

Rarely do under 400 damage in that setup.Only downside is that you have to be really aggressive with low alpha builds like that one to actually make a difference.

The other is Cents in general,CN-9A is my favourite Leroy-mech,just dive into the enemy lance, pop an uav, blast them with SRM:s and keep moving. With XL275,ASRM18 and 2 medium lasers it just murders everything.600-700 damage games are normal in carry situations,400-500 when my team is the one doing the steamrolling, and sometimes over a 1100 when you are forced into a desperate last stand situation.

Adorable it may be but I think you'll find when it comes to that crutch "fun" mech that people love to pilot regardless, they're not meta in any way and succeed for the players who pilot them.

Unfortunately there are those (like that I quoted) whose crutch mechs are purely meta because their definition of fun is winning at any cost by playing meta and meta only.

So I suggest you stick your "ADORABLE" where the sun has doubtful ever shined, take your MLG and min/max/meta out of here and leave this thread to those who want to play the game for fun away from people like you.

You must be really butthurt. Not my fault your foot is in your mouth. Next time, read the purpose of the thread. (And btw: Gauss/Laser is NOT "meta," it is a well rounded build I enjoy. Perhaps when they fix ECM/Missile, I might throw a launcher or two on it.)

KILLYA Muromets (3xUAC-5) is probably my best crutch mech (the only Hero mech I own, bought on sale), simply because of it's pure effectiveness at any range. It fits to any map, unlike many other mechs that I love much more than him.
And he also fits well for dakka-dakka mood.

Hunchback 4P

You get the respect for piloting a bucket of bolts while the beams manage to dish out some serious pain.

I always fall back to my Wolverine 7K with a ERPPC , MPLS and 3 ASRM4s. Speed, range, firepower and 5 jumpjets all in a devious package.

Crutch mech has to be a shadow hawk with a Gauss and er ppc, Timby with a laser vomit or twin ppc Gauss. Dual Gauss K2 can be thrown in there too.

I didn't like twin gauss on the K2. Just didn't feel like an efficient use of weight. I much prefer the dual AC/10 with four Medium Lasers on it. I usually pack five tons of ammo and still have enough room to fit an AMS with 500 rounds.

If I just want to see big damage numbers and kill stuff I'll play my DireWhales < crutch mech. If I want to cause the enemy to rage about "hit boxesssss" I'll run my Ember. If I just want to have fun I run my Locust 3M with 5 MLs, or my Sarahs <3
