It possibly was actually built as a joke.
Also, Ive seen a lot of people running strange crap like that after getting locked down by Flamers since the big patch.
It will be interesting to see how that changes post-hot fix.

Flamers still need a buff, or a complete re-design, tbh. However, I ran an Ember with 4 Flamers, and 4 MGs. I got something in the low 90s in terms of damage, but it was quite satisfying.

Always makes my day when I'm off to the side of a Stalker, take a random pot shot at it as I'm moving around to its rear...and it drops dead from its ST being blown off..

That may not sound too bad. After all, at least the player remembered to use Artemis to make their missiles more concentrated.
Except this Atlas had no other weapons. And he definitely could not fit ECM since those missile launchers took up his entire Left torso.
This is my best guess as to how the 'mech was built.
I don't think such a genius at mech building would move away from the stock engine, so probably more like this: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...0f85b485634cf68
At least enough ammo to shoot into terrain.

The LRM Atlas is actually kinda fun to play, but I've tried LRM Victors. Lemme tell you, I put a LRM10 in the 2 tube slot. The results are stupidly amusing. Reminded me of when I tried sticking an LRM20 in the Raven Narc-beacon slot that used to only have one tube.

There are like 3 builds on the Stalker that could warrant an XL engine, and all of them can be done with a STD 275 instead.

As for things I fielded... does a "battlefield annoyance" Raven with 1xML, 1xTAG, and 2xAC/2 count? The idea was having AC/2s chain-firing at double fire rate, a continuous barrage at three shots per second to annoy the hell out of anyone who would come into view, and throw off their aim. It was very fun to play, but I ended up changing to something a bit more suited to actual combat.

HAH! That was more or less my anti-gausskat build back during the dual-gauss K2 meta. I think I took more ammo and SLs instead of ML+TAG though.

Nah, you need to take the medium laser off it first. Right now, you can still deal damage under 180, so I'm not sure it qualifies for this thread.

Nice idea, maybe change the engine and remove the artemis. Then I can speed around in an Atlas with a 360XL with 23 tons of ammo.

This is what I imagine it had to be built as. Ran across them on my team in Canyon Network. It ran slower than our DWF, and after I got picked apart in my WVR, I jumped into his cockpit only to sadface over his set-up. He still hadn't caught up to the main force (I think he spent most of his time trying to scale a wall that he was still trying to scale when I started spectating), and still had 1800 AMS rounds that were ticking away. I think he did about 30 damage before a spider 5V shot through his left torso in like 5 LPL blasts, murdering him and turning him into an only slightly-less-useful pile of smoking mech.
It was a terrible, terrible build...and I love him for it.

I decided just to take a trial Atlas (the RS - head shake - face palm) to see if it was any good and to prove a point to Valiant.

Once I remembered that the secret of mech steel, is only as strong, as the hand that wields it, I was ready.
This was a 12 - 7 victory with 1 suicide and disconnect on my team. So needless to say I got my carry on.
This is 8th time I have hit 8 kills and was quite possibly the most satisfying.
Mmmmmmm..... yes
Mech-Cellent!
