It would be Ok if you say Awesome has more heat dissipation or can fire 3 PPC without heat penalty, but why the hell PPC should have a higher velocity? It depends on physics NOT on the Mech!
Just another lump in the clear red line of BT rules! Another "wrong" way to balance the game.
Uh, you know that targeting computers do the same thing, right? And we left BT rules a long time ago in favor of actually making a fun game?

Overall, I'm really impressed by the proposals. What is really good is that the quirks can actually be large enough to be really useful. I was a bit worried that we would end up with 3% cool down increases etc.
Looking forward to seeing these implemented. My HBK 4G is warming up in the hangar...

if you have a generalistic buff for all ballistic weapons on each hunchback - for example 25% for the 4G and 20% for the 4H - i would run all the time the 4H - because the additional energy slots are worth the missing 5%
Its a nice system to achieve what those "we need hardpoint sizes" fraction wanted to have -without forcing it.
You think you are smooth with 2 Ultra 5 Autocannons in your 4G - you don't have to change it - but you don't get a bonus.
Its ok
I want to see your 4H build. How are you fitting an AC20, ammo, and 5 lasers into that thing? Standard 200 engine?
For the record, I've always put an AC20 4G, but I don't think anyone should have to be forced to run it that way to be competitive. And they will have to run it that way if they want it to be remotely viable, as a mild energy and RT endurance buff is not going to push the Hunchback beyond tier for on their own.

Oh right, just for people who don't remember, this game is based on a lore that is what, 30+ years old? Deal with it.

I think we'll see a lot more chassis (in the solo queue at least) once this goes live.
Using at least some weapon-specific quirks will also (hopefully) increase weapon diversity.
Mostly though, my 4G(F) has gotten pretty marginalized over the years and I welcome the help. =)
(Feel like i should jam another ton of ammo into it given the rate of fire increase though...hmm...)

My 2 large laser, AC5, medium pulse laser founder's hunchback (4G) disagrees that you need an AC20 to be competitive. I do multi-kill, 500+ damage matches with some regularity on it, while pugging.
It MIGHT change with the Quirkage, but I doubt it. The energy buffs alone will help counter the only real issue that build has... which is the large lasers' heat.
I may just buy another 4G to mount an AC20, too.
Don't fret too much if the build you have in mind isn't a perfect fit for the quirks.

They never had a tier 1 medium to begin with. Clans had nothing to do with it. Just because one is considered the best among mediums, does not mean it belongs in best among all IS mechs.

My question to PGI is if they will release new weapon modules based on the new quirks for the chassis. If they do it allows "moving" some of those quirks to different chassis for similar gains but a cost. This might inadvertently widen the equipment gap between new and veteran players. On the other hand it allows those stock mechs to further increase their specialization.

The Hunchback 4G is quoted by Russ as being a Brawler, while the 4H is a Skirmisher and the Awesome 8Q as being Support.
My question is, and I hope Russ comes in to answer.
Where did you get this information? Is this based on what the community does, or from the battletech lore?
Because if it is from the Lore, then the roles are incorrect.
Hunchback 4G and 4H are both, according to the Official Battletech website Juggernauts:

http://www.masteruni...unchback-hbk-4h
while the Awesome 8Q is a Sniper:
