I would still like to have an answer on my question regarding your Tier list. Without knowing what the base for the categorization of mechs was, it is practically useless. Yeah, I know I repeat myself, but it just really seems important considering all the discussions using a wide range of arguments from all sorts of points of view.

Just a thought about the Tier list.

If the IS mech quirks are being updated to balance them against the clans, shouldn't T1 clans be the target instead of T1 IS? Or are T1 IS mechs considered to be on par with the best clan mechs?

The clock needs to be updated. I think you will find that IGP is actually out of time.

How about discussing the future of this game instead of discussing about the crappy history you guys had?

Look forward and not reminisce about the bad times. I am excited about the future and the progress that PGI has been having this whole year. Keep it up guys. :)

If one does not learn from the past, they are doomed to repeat it.

Why is it that no matter what PGI says it will do, no matter in how much honesty, there will always be members of the community that will find ways to complain about it? Poor show.

I'm gladly looking forward to listening to this, so thanks Russ. I'm quite curious to see how IGP really affected the development of MWO.

I hope he is able to provide relevant dates for what he mentions so that it can be incorporated into the timeline for posterity. Russ has been very forthcoming lately, which is a great change of pace.

Has it occurred to you that some of us don't want to think about the timeline anymore? As in, there's little productive point to it and the answers would only elicit more snide mockery and cries of "IGP thrown under the bus!"?

I mean, I can see that you're being pretty fair to PGI and everything in your tone. But that's done is done, when are we going to move on?

It has definitely occurred to me that some people would rather forget or ignore, sure. But, recognizing where things went wrong is important; recognizing when it happened is also important.

For example, it's really cool that Russ was able to apologize for the Your On An Island comment. It seems like he genuinely did not realize at the time, or in the immediate aftermath, just how that remark was taken by the community or how it blended into the sentiment that the founders weren't the "target audience" anymore.

Now, I can see why it would have been tempting to just ignore that and pretend it never happened, or that it wasn't important. As a standalone remark, sure, it's not a big deal. But if you understand the context and the circumstances, you can appreciate why the Island became a rallying point for disaffected customers. And you'll understand why acknowledging the misstep was a big deal.

We've heard that PGI was "doubling down on communication" before. A lot. In fact, we heard it earlier this year, and it seemed to reassure a lot of really excited players who were gracious about the gesture (and ironically later were all permabanned). Yet, absurd moderation practices saw PGI as a whole get thrown off Reddit.

It's a bit silly to just say, "Let's all pretend that didn't happen." A lot of people are thinking, "Where did things go wrong?" instead.

Well, If the Devs wanted to revive the old closed Beta forums - you'll see that I was saying much of the exact same things back then as I do today: That until the game is feature complete, all the rest of the junk that people ask for, and PGI works on, is nothing but a distraction that would lead MWO to failure.

I certainly didn't imagine that the game would STILL be in an Alpha State 2 years after the Devs put it into an "Open Beta" status. Want to know where MWO and PGI went wrong? That's simple, the Devs chased squirrels instead of working on core game systems. The Devs are idiots, and no amount of blaming IGP is going to undo the damage done by PGI's continual pretending that MWO is "almost a finished product".

A good example of just how terribad PGI is could be summed up in 3 letters: ECM.

I'm not talking about whether ECM is an awful mechanic or not; or whether it is OP or not. I'm just talking about how PGI adds ECM and then puts a checkmark next to Role Warfare and calls it complete. I'm talking about how PGI puts up a forum post looking for ideas to rework ECM, then puts up a post laying out the idea for a "council" to fix ECM, and then ... nothing.

It's ok. Every time I get frustrated with MWO - I just go to the transverse website so that I can remind myself of yet another example of just how terrible PGI is. MWO is in an Alpha state, and PGI wants to tell the world it's a complete product while trying to drum up donations so they can start a new project. It'd be hilarious if it wasn't for the fact that MWO STILL has more potential than any of the other Stompy Robot games currently in development or released.

Someone be sure to ask about the state of Pulse Lasers. Perhaps specify Clan SPLs and MPLs. They are rather rubbish.

As are IS med and small pulse lasers.

Maybe also ask about a PTS for the IS quirks.

How long till armor values are put to standard instead of doubled so that brawling will actualy be a viable play style. Cause with the armor doubled trying to brawl is useless. I know. How about making community warfare the proper armor values and leave the double armor for the normal game. Let all these people know what playing mechwarrior is suposed to be.

Perhaps when the weapons aren't doing 300% damage.

As in, currently at 150% damage. Mechs would survive longer with 1x stats.

Apparently Russ disagrees with you.

Those of us unbanned were asked not to look to the past but to the future then instead of looking to the future, Russ seems to be looking to the past himself.

Why don't you wait until you have to see what they have to say instead of just assuming the worse out of the gate.

They gave you the benefit of the doubt, by allowing you back...but...your unwilling to do the same.

Let that sink in for a bit...then respond, please.

If you look at my previous posts, it states that I am not willing to forget about the past and will learn from those things. Maybe they want to explain why the decisions that they are making today are based on the decisions made in the past. How these interplay is important, based on the resources that that they have garnered.

While I understand that your might feel jaded for being banned for whatever reason. The question is can you turn over a new leaf, are you willing to even attempt it. By your recent posts, it appears that you are not. That you will go back to the business as usual that got you banned in the first place,at a time of your choosing.

If all you want to do, is complain, express distrust, and sow seeds of contempt, there are better sites to do this at, with like mined people...like reddit and MechSpecs.

It depends on what people suspect was the problem.

If people are expecting a breakdown of technical struggles that tangled up development, then that would be enlightening (and hopeful, if Russ is able to say that the problems have been surmounted).

If people are expecting a sordid tale of what IGP did to muck things up, that's just satisfying people's need for gossip and scapegoats. I tend to favor that narrative, and even I don't really want to hear any more.

If people are expecting just apologies for moral desolation and bad decisions, then the community needs to grow the **** up. I saw this post on Reddit today...

Quote

Tonight's town hall should be interesting if Russ goes over two things - the history of the non-development of CW, and what the abject failure of transverse means for MWO. If he recognizes that his personal reputation and his company depends on focusing on MWO and actually delivering what should have been in years ago there is hope.

...and I read that and went "Okay, so you just want Russ to grovel." The very fact that he's initiating this, and that he came forward to apologize for the island comment (a comment which I do NOT comprehend the hand-wringing over...it has been blown completely out-of-proportion and exposed an awful lot of video gamers as oversensitive drama queens), is a surprising move and I want the community to respond to it with grace. So far, I think most of us are. But I fear the handful who are going to try to dominate tonight's AMA, absolutely pound the 90 days issue into the ground, demand "no Ghost Heat or N.O.P.E.", and start another Twitter campaign if they earn themselves a ban from the twitch.

Call me cynical, but I just don't see any other ending to this. Until Community Warfare comes out, wallets are staying closed. That's why the request for "history" strikes me as disingenuous. Why not just speak with your actions, Russ, instead of risking more with words?
