And draw in What new playerbase? We are already here... (Those that specifically only want a 1-player campaign are probably not enough to justify splitting the revenues from the BT crowd between two fullcost projects.)

They can use the MWO Mechs.
They "only" have to make new maps, add AI to the game, have to pay for voice actors...
How much do you want to pay for a single player Mechwarrior ?
But to be fair:
A working AI system would be also nice for MWO (AI controlled Tanks & Infantry ) for example in the training grounds.

I don't think that transverse ever targeted the MWO players as a target group.

The target player group for Transverse would be all space sim fans who don't play Elite Dangerous or Star Citzien or EVE (Valkyre)...
Bur from a strict economical point of view it would be sensible to create a own Game with license free IP to have a second source of income if the Mechwarrior License expires.
It's just not sensible to create a own Space Sim what has to compete with Games like ED or SC.

1. Will PGI continue development anyway ( and what exactly does taking it behind the curtains mean)?
2. If development will continue, where will the money to develop Trans♂♀verse come from?

Eh?
I think $50 would be reasonable for a one time fee.

Maybe it will resurface in the future. I'm really wanting to find a good space MMO to replace Star Trek Online. That game sure has gotten stale and is pushed over towards the P2P side so hard that I have to tilt my screen to play it.

Well, it was just my thought…. Realistic or not, it could have been fun if done that way.
