The problem with the C-bill rewards is that they are geared towards tonnage and firepower. You are basically paying people to buy direwolves.

Also, making the match score target the same for all classes, AND clan and IS is questionable.

alright, you got me and I will confess. I have been running mostly my direwolf.

Lights do seem to be doing the best, and cicadas, so it's not about tonnage, that's a total crock.

It's all about teamwork, and getting lucky on your pugs. I just had a match where the team refused to answer, to talk at all, then when they finally did, it was to say typing means I'm not firing...i then proceeded to get 2 kills while typing, and the whole team died as I was doing it anyway, while not communicating whatsoever....you really cannot fix stupid, no matter how hard you want to try.

I'd like to see what the top scorers are running, and how they're doing things. It's beyond me how someone scores 2.2k in a light when my own performances are only borderline 500 damage.

A LITTLE underwhelming. But I guess this was to be expected.

Still, I'd like to see gameplay videos as well. I mean it might be because my ping sits around 200-300 that I can't compete as well.

Low ping on a light means you should be near-invincible to anyone with better ping. I have good ping, so I can't hit lights for anything, and when I do, they keep right on trucking even after 4-5 salvos of LB to red legs. The added strain on the servers from the busy weekend is making this even more prevalent, so the lights that are doing well probably mostly have high ping. (aside from the guys that are just plain good, there's those, too.)

Well shoot, now I don't know what to think; other than mass medium lasers being superior to an SRM Raven.

Basically, this: do not stop shooting, be aggressive, and aim for weak points in armor while using the heavier 'mechs and terrain for cover.

Probably a difference in skill and playstyle then.

I always make it a point to find a lonely Dire wolf and rip his back armor out as soon as possible to reduce enemy firepower, over running around and nipping at already made holes.

Not sure you can call 30 damage over a second nipping...

Calling it a night sitting at third in Clan mediums, which probably means I`ll wake up in 10th with all the Euro farmers signing on right about now. Enjoyed this tourny more than the others, probably because I was piloting nothing but SRM Scarecrows... give them a shot if you haven`t tried yet, they are a blast.

I've never seen so much LRM and Air/Arty spam! Is that how it usually is in the group queue? How is that even fun? Glad I don't go there. Oh, well -just 24 more hours and we'll hopefully be rid of them.

It's pretty craptacular for light and medium players.

I'm not complaining. More Atlases and Direwhales for me to sneak behind and shadow kill and fewer streak Ravens hunting me down. It's great for the few of us actual lights players. =]

That said, I'm having a hard time doing what I usually do in a game because my teammates have a habit of trying to shoot through me instead of waiting for a clear shot. There's gotta be a better way to encourage competition without the gameplay going to **** for several days in a row.

Pretty much. And that's why there needs to be a Lance Queue plus Opt in Solo players, to get out of the big groups or leave it to those who like getting curbstomped. Been in matches there where I've seen 12-16 arty/air strikes go off. Most from one team as they roll to a 12-0 or 12-1 victory inside of 3 minutes.

These events are boring as hell. Please PGI. Stop. Just Stop. You're doing them every weekend and literally Ruining every weekend for me. People either want exact groups of 4 people, which sucks. Or they don't want to group at all which sucks worse. It also always changes the way people play in the worst possible way. So please just stop with them already.

I'm guessing PGI had some statistics that show a big dropoff just before 130 points. It's been interesting [-ly frustrating] how a relatively "good game" can fall short on points by a little or a lot (and incentivize playing like a jerk!).

I'm more annoyed by the 3 games by my count I scored over 130, won, and didn't get credit (on the leaderboard or the valid wins chart).

Not true.
I'm playing both Direwolves and Firestarters and despite running the 5xC-UAC5+3ERML build, I find it easier to reach 130 points in the Firestarter. All it takes is 10 assists and 2 kills. Or 3 kills and 7 assists. I'm running 4xML 4xSL just for "kill securing". Some of my friends go to extremes and run 8xML.

The problem with Direwolves is that if your team abandons you, you will die. And if your team is too good, you won't have the chance to score those assists even while charging full speed at the enemy.

Whereas when you are inside a 150 kph mech and there happens to be a stomp, you will be on the front lines for the whole duration taking kills and assists. And 30-40 damage alpha is no joke.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Air/Arty happens quite enough (as do UAVs), but LRMs are hit or miss. Some folks bring them, some folks don't. Some folks know how to use them effectively even in the group queue, others don't, and others still know how to basically ignore LRMs.

However, you also get coordinated teams, even when you get 3 different groups, groups are more likely to not only work with their own team, but other teams as well, and between in game comms and voice chat, there's a lot more coordination going on, so you tend to get closer games, more combacks, or the occasional ROFLStomp by a superior opponent (you or the other team). Slightly less snowball effect than in the PUG matches, but matches often are shorter because engagements happen sooner.
