So I haven't played MWO for quite a while, one of my main gripes before I stopped playing was the lack of information on mechs in the store. There is literally no information on a mechs loadout anywhere to be found in the client before you buy it unless I am seriously missing something. I was expecting this massive oversight to be patched by now but from what I can tell it hasn't. Really I have to ask what is the logic behind this? This information was available before the store was updated months ago, why was it ever removed? If I have missed something and you can see mechs stats in the store I apologise, but if there really is no way to look up mechs stats and default loadouts in client before you buy them please fire the person responsible for that idiotic decision.

Thanks.

Mouseover the mech to see a list of what it carries/comes with. Also there's a "mech details" button in the lower right corner that will show you the smurfy style layout of the mech.

It's somewhat hidden. Theres this button off to the side. Rather unintuitive.

I have that in the mechlab for my already owned mechs yes. But I don't have that in the actual store when I am buying a new mech. Thats what I am talking about, how am I expected to make an informed choice of what mech I should buy when there is literally no information about any of it features in the store section of the client?

Both of the things listed in my earlier post show up for me on mechs under the "purchasable" tab of the mechlab.

Thank you!

That drop down filter didn't exist the last time I played so I completely missed it tonight. But still I have to ask why the hell isnt that same functionality available in the store? It doesn't make sense to omit it.

All the information is available in the client. you could have asked first instead of making sweeping, incorrect statements.

I'm sure everyone will agree that the mechlab's information fucntionality should be present in the store section, though.

yes, the store is lacking. you shouldnt need to but basically go to smurfy, do your research and build tweeking here, then plug it in to the MWO mechlab.

It's a reasonable rant. I mean, if a new player runs trials until they have a good stash saved up and then wants to buy their first mech, they'll click store, then battlemechs, and get hit with a largely unfiltered (just pay only and some order due to weight) wall of mechs, all listed as just a tiny diagram and a name. They'll click around until they give up trying to find details, say "I remember I couldn't target that raven and a bunch of people said it was great because of ecm so I'll get a raven!" and buy a 2x raven. Then, because it's their first mech and they have never customised one before and nothing will guide the to do so they'll run it stock, feel like they got a bum deal and not want to play again. And unless they have a friend already in the game or hardcore into battletech, there is a fair chance that they will never again play.
And that is, in my opinion, where the new user experience really fails, beyond the lack of a proper tutorial.

This exactly! Getting into this game can be intimidating enough for new players but the way the store is structured right now it is extremely user unfriendly. I don't post a lot here but but from the minute the UI 2.0 was introduced I said you will lose new adopters to MWO with the way it is. For a new player who is unfamiliar with the game it is very easy to squander your first hard earned credits on a mech that is in no way suited to you because you only have a stamp sized portrait and a price to figure out what you are buying as you said.

If a veteran to this game like myself who has almost 2000 matches can completely miss what I missed then obviously something is very wrong with the fundamental design of the store. I made "sweeping incorrect statements" because I was frustrated to the point with the store that I literally did not want to play the game any more. Sure I "could have asked" but its not my fault that this vital information is basically hidden away from where it should logically be.

I am glad you agree with my points though. :)
