Another gripe as I investigate purchasing a new mech.

1. Long loading time to show purchasable mechs.
2. Clicking on a mech doesn't show any relevant information about said mech
3. Clicking mech details doesn't show mech hard points clearly. The icons represent "unused hardpoints". So I have to count them, then manually check each weapon and add up what category it is.
4. Clicking details hides the summary view for absolutely no reason. This means you can't look at loadouts and speed/armour/firepower at the same time.
5. Clicking back takes me back to my owned mechs, meaning I have to go through all the steps of (and waiting) of setting the filters again. Why doesn't the back button take me back to the previous screen?

For the love of god who the heck approved this flow? Don't you want to make it as easy as possible to purchase mechs? There really there needs to be an easy way to compare mech specs, and there just isn't. This isn't without even bringing up there rest of the problems with the UI, something worthy of an essay.

PGI, please tell me that you plan to hire an actual UI designer soon and rebuild this utter tripe, because I can barely tolerate it. These are the sort of issue that confuse, frustrate and ultimately drive away players.

UI 1.5 for comparison, where every piece of relevant information is easily accessible in a clear, concise manner.

On the Town Hall, Russ stated they're looking at ways to increase speed within the menus. There was a variety of problems they talked about, but I can't remember what they really were.

What I want to see is that perspective come back. I want to look up at my 'Mech, not gaze at it as if it was a plastic toy.

Also I would like to hide trial mech in mechlab. I have enough of mine and still buying them.

I have to agree. Not being able to see mech details such as hardpoint placement is a glaring absense, especially when you take into account the fact that the previous UI had it.

I mean, WTF!? I shouldn't have to be alt-tabbing to Smurphy's to find out what that variant has I'm looking to buy.

The worst thing is i can never find my modules.

How do i know where my equipped modules are?

Why does it take like 20 clicks to take my modules off and move them to a different mech?

Why does every action require a confirmation box that takes ages to appear?

so so

PGI has a one track mind. They can only do one thing at a time, and right now its CW phase 2. Maybe UI2.0 gets on the list one day.

They really should have paid Smurfy to translate ~most of his site, not just the Mechbay, into the game itself (could have been as dumb as an embedded browser control).

Russ' twitter says that the next patch will let you hide trial mechs, thank god. Annoys the hell out of me too.

Seriously after all these months, I'd still take UI 1.5 over 2.0. It looked bad, it was rigid, but it was at least much more Mechlab friendly.

The "rapid UI updates after release" that Russ promised never came.

Just want to add my dislike and disappointment in the UI.. it is embarrassing to me and the main reason I stopped inviting new friend to play the game. I say this, not as a slam or to be negative, but as a plea to improve your primary new user experience .. your first impression to the new users, the users we seem to need very much. Maybe the new pgi will listen

Agreed... even after months of using UI 2.0, the old UI was more functional and simply better than the new one. Sadly Russ and PGI will never go back, so we are stuck with this garbage for good.

the town hall offered some insight into the UI and why it is what it is, basically they dont like it either but while working with IGP, IGP simply wouldnt fund work on the UI so what we have is what they did on their own dime. the old UI did function better for modifying mechs but was a "bottleneck" for CW happening (basically the faction screen and what not.)

they said they do have a full time UI person but they are working on CW UIs currently, they can continue to do small improvements when it fits in the schedule.

so basically, expect little to nothing until CW is out, after that they can begin development on improving it but its still going to be a while.

UI 2.0 goes against ALL principles that make quality UI. If PGI had cared at least a bit they would opened wikipedia and read http://en.wikipedia..../User_interface

Usability aside, and I wasn't around for when 2.0 was being worked on, but the lighting looks a lot cooler on these early shots:

town some up. UI guy is there for 4 days a week. would rather him get quick simple things done rather complex over haul of UI. that is what i remember in a nut shell. think russ stated over haul would take something 4-6 weeks
