They likely based that on welding. MIG welding has a 'bacon sizzle' when set up properly.
Oddly enough, plasma cutting really only makes sound from the air hose.
This is like the second post ive mentioned steel shop work....crazy.

A lot of the time when I'm playing, I am taking damage. Now a lot of the time, when I'm being shot I only notice because my paper doll starts to light up. Other times I'll actually see someone shooting me and I'll barely hear a thing.
Is there any particular reason why I can barely hear my 80 ton mech being partially melted by a barrage of lasers? There is a sound effect but its much too quiet, and I assure you I'm playing at a decent volume
There has to be someone else who has this same issue, its been like this for so long and has been overshadowed by all of the bigger issues.
What the damage direction red hud indicators not enough for you?

Hearing armor ablate and sound like popping popcorn due to lasers certainly sounds interesting for example.
And new louder sounds for Internal Structure getting damage would be nice too.

Well that would be the realism and immersion.
Watch: presumably stuff like this happens each time you get hit assuming future BT tech has any realistic parity with today's weapons.
The whole basis of modern warfare is kinda like, weapons are so powerful striking first is really the only choice because few units will survive to get hit a second time.
I think the shake in the game if fairly toned down compared to anything resembling real life.

There is one, what the **** are you people smoking.
Also, it doesn't matter if it plays Hell's Bells every time I laser you, you're still dying in 1.6 seconds when I alpha you with 10 medium lasers in the back while you stand still. Every time.

Set your Gauss to all of your unused weapon groups. When it's ready to fire the blocks around your targeting reticule that correspond to the groups your Gauss is in will all turn green. The visual queue is a little harder to miss, especially if you have the Gauss in 3 or 4 groups.

Bear in mind, that there is a hissing noise coming from a gas feed (more visible in the second video) meant to blow smoke & debris away from the laser emitter (in order to keep the optics clean & maintain beam integrity).

I've always thought this issue was lag or server hit registration problems. I've had my entire CT armor stripped and never got a notification.
or its a hack but lets not go there...
