I'll just drop my head in here to say this.

If you buy a no name high wattage psu to save yourself 30 bucks/pounds/rubles then you deserve every ounce of hellfire you get.

ROFL...
Yeah trying to skimp on a PSU has been cause of many a computer case fire. <--Not a joke either.

Alright, look: I didn't build this for y'all, as I have no faith in a duel-core making for a worth-money experience in MW:O, but I figured I might as well share. -_-

The PSU is overkill, but the price was right. I went looking for something on memory with that CPU, and found want I was looking for. The cooler is mana from heaven, and the case seems a revaluation …

Oh ye of little faith.

Runs fine

Recorded with shadowplay, during the event that netted 500k per "valid win", hence me running around and hitting everybody once.

Gents, I have to thank you with all of my heart. I finally built the system we discussed in the other forum and WOW, all I can say is WOW. On medium settings I was brawling at 60+ FPS and cruising around at 80-90. It is going to take a lot of getting used to, a HUGE change from playing on a laptop. OF course my son will want to play his account on the new system and I'll be stuck back on the laptop....

Again, thank you

If you're going to put a 970 in there I'd rather pony up another $100 for an i5.

You could but its not necessary for gaming. 2 Haswell cores overclocked are more than enough.

Besides I thought the entire point of this was to keep the cost minimal.

Depends on the game and the settings. Most games don't make full use of quadcores but almost all will make use of over 2 cores. And many games are cpu limited.

I run the 3258 myself, but I've got it paired with a 100 euro secondhand gtx 670.

yeah like dirt cheap 760series GTX...........for >200$ paired with that GPUbeast. I would feel cheated having all that gpu power pegged @75% usage.......due to insufficient core count. MWO is a pig hogzilla of a deadwieght code train that your PC needs to pull think......Posted Imagethis badman, is I7 (or I5 OC'd) whilst running MWO. Hes nasty but MWO dont care. She is a gluttonous pigbeast.

and if that picture is an i7, this is what the G3258 is

Now imagine pulling the truck. How that's working out? :)

Sure, it might hold up to normal gaming loads, but MWO is still MWO.

The 3258 holds up fine in mwo, as minimum fps occurs when per-core perfromance is required, and the 3258 has lots of that.

The newest aaa stuff supposedly doesn't run that well, I wouldn't know, pretty much never buy stuff on launch.

Well then, I suppose it's time :D

I have ~700 USD available. My current PC is one that I built 7 years ago when I was a sophomore in high school that I did during an elective. I have only upgraded it once since, replacing the ancient Graphics Card with an ASUS built GeForce GTX 660 Ti, about a year or two ago. Since I built the PC my tech literacy has steadily dwindled, but I 'think' I can still manage to put one together from the parts. I think. Probably going to take a lot of youtube videos.

So, any suggestions? One thing I'm wondering is if I should replace the GTX 660 Ti with something newer, or just keep using it for now and upgrade that in a couple years.

I'd keep it, this game is more demanding on the cpu. Getting a card that's a significant upgrade over the 660 Ti would eat too much out of the budget.

Sweet, that should save some money. Now for the rest of the parts...

Just pick a build in this thread and pop your graphics card in it. Most of them are around your target price range.
