HELP

I wish I could, but since I did this, mine simply freezes and states it cannot 3d render somesuch bs, I don't really care except my cd rom hasn't functioned inna bit, so I can't use my factory reboot disks to backdate myself, as this %^$&$%#&$& windows 10 update removed all my backup files, and changed the file types of all my music to one it can't use at all, wtf was microsoft thinking????? Ah well... back to the stockpile of oldarse parts to see if I cant get this thing to play mechwarrior.... hopefully I don't lose too many days of my active premium time

The legendary GodMode, a hidden staple for Windows power users, makes its return in windows 10 As before, activating it unveils a power user menu that brings together all of your system’s far-flung settings and configuration options into a single location. Just create a new folder and rename it to following:
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Don’t forget the period after “GodMode”, and you can rename the “GodMode” portion whatever you’d like if you want another name for the folder.

is the h80 of any good?

I am still thinking should i get a watercooler or just use the stockone........ or should i grab a cheap airone......

also i want to get a small form factor case at first but there are so much goodies i could do in a mid tower.....THE PAIN!!!

I use the Corsair H80i GT (it's the same as the H80, just different aesthetics and gets power from a USB header on the MOBO, as opposed to a SATA connector) to cool my i5 2500k that runs at 4.5ghz. The cooler is very efficient and easy to assemble. My CPU averages 50 degrees celsius when I run a very high-end game. Another benefit of liquid cooling is that it reduces the total heat buildup in your computer, so my GTX 770, Corsair Vengeance RAM modules, VRM, hard disks and SSD's run very cool as well. This also can potentially allow for the GPU to be overclocked if need be some time in the future.

I had a few problems with mechwarrior online and windows 10 this is what I did to fix them.

1 I had to install direct x it was supposed to be baked in but it wasn't

2 ran the repair tool (you have to start mechwarrior but dont hit the play button there is a set of gears on the upper right click on that then the repair tool)

3 I had to repeat the same steps above but I had to run in 32 bit mode instead of 64 bit mode.

LOL, if you upgrade your OS as soon as a new one comes out you deserve any problems you get. It takes 6 to 12 months to iron out all the bugs so being an "early adopter" means you're working for Microsoft (or any other company) for free as their guinea pig and subjecting yourself to all possible problems and inconveniences so they can fix it based on the pain you experienced (and reported to them, of course).

A lot of software companies do it this way to save time and money. Develop the software until it's 80% fixed, then instead of fixing the rest just release it to the unsuspecting public and let them beta test it instead of hiring beta testers. If it's a game (like MWO) it's not a big deal because many people do it anyway because they feel it gives them a say in the balancing of the game. However, if it's an OS you risk losing valuable data, not being able to use programs you depend on and compatibility issues with other hardware so upgrading early is inherently unwise.

Isn't it wierd that they use to say Overclocking is bad and now the people who make chips actually produce special systems that have better fans to deal with OC and actually OC their own products.

I grabbed a reserve copy of windows 10 but I don't plan on upgrading for any time soon because of this issue Above. Most tech savvy people understand that and that's why they'd rather stick with a more reliable platform even if it is outdated.

If it's not broke don't fix it.

I upgraded a few weeks ago, and the only problem I ever had was If I was waiting for a match and I was doing somthing else like browsing the web, occationally when I went to switch the client would crash. But they fixed his in the 18th patch. Since then Win 10 has had zero issues for me. Game play is identical. But then I have a laptop that's about 2 years old which means its stable driver wise.

Asus G75.

IT DOES WORK WITH W10.
OBVIOUSLY FOR SOME IT DOESN'T.
MUST UPDATE NVIDIA EXPERIENCE/CONTROL PANEL - IT NEEDS THE W10 DRIVERS TO OPERATE CORRECTLY.
MUST UPDATE WINDOWS A COUPLE OF TIMES AT LEAST.
RESTART LOTS.
SHOULD WORK.

Then we should still be using typewriters, perhaps with a digital watch, scientific calculator, carbon paper, a chess board (or BT mapboard), a polaroid camera, a 36mm video camera, a girlie (or manie) mag and a set of embossed and scented stationary for writing letters all attached with string and sticky tape to the aforementioned typewriter, instead.

Just joking though.
Cheers.

YES WINDOWS 10 is out. \
////////UPDATE see AdamBaines's post below he seems to have more facts. ////////////
.
AS BETA, it seems Microsoft is trying a different approach.
.
Instead of building an OS and telling the world "THIS is what you want and need." Only to be shocked when half the poop they stuff into a version is neither wanted or needed and in fact gums up an otherwise fine computer.
.
THIS time they seem to want to hear from the USERS of an OS as they flesh it out and work on the bugs as they ad features instead of trying to unravel a bug from a mountian of code.
.
Guess they saw how successfull it is in other software ventures like,,, say , , , GAMING! 8)
.
One can only hope.
.
They are selecting, I'm guessing, PREVIOUS owners of Windows Op Systems to offer the chance to download and install a BETA version of Win10.
I have one but haven't worked up the insanity level to risk enabling it yet.
.
I want to hear more from those that DID activate it and am getting suspicious that I have as yet NOT run into anyone that is or has run a copy.
.
Ominous silence.
.
So I wait.
lol

Skamay,
Yeah, there is a bit of wisdom in being on the SECOND boat to the New World, at least you have some idea where the reefs are and you know you can come back. lol

No its free for anyone who has windows 7 or 8 or 8.1 to upgrade. And not its not BETA. Really if you want to put it that way, Windows 8 and 8.1 were the BETA for 10.

There is a queue, but once on the queue you get the go ahead to D/L within 1-2 days max.

Hey Adam,
have you run it and does it run MechWarrior?

PS just called it beta for want of a better discription.
this version is afterall , free.

PPS is there a limit to how long I have to use it once downloaded?

I run it with MWO right now with minimal issues. performance wise no change. I had an issues where if I was doing and ALT+Tab between MWO and other apps while waiting for a match (only one the match connected) it would crash the client. But the release on the 18th and seems to have done the trick for that.

You can only Download it once per license, and the download is not like download and executable file, its part of Wndows Update. So one you queue for it, and I tells you you have been cleared the Update tool DLs it and then installs it. Pretty seemless. No sure what kind of connection you have, but I have a DL of usually arrund 14-16 Mbps. It was done in about 1-2 hours.

I can't believe this is still a thing...

Yes it runs on Windows 10.

However, WinX has issues you need to address before running any games if you own an nVidia card and have semi current drivers installed.

As stated above, do all the windows updates/restarts you can first. One of the early nv driver sets in windows was ... we'll say not so good. As a result, a bunch of people took to forums complaining about games crashing etc., usually before bothering to go get new drivers and try that first. The crapstorm commenced.

Anyway, once you're done with updates, go get your newest WinX certified drivers (might even have the same rev name/#, pay attention to the dialog boxes on the site). Uninstall anything nv you find in the control panel(yes it's still there if you do the upgrade path), and perform a clean install of the newer driver set, do one more reboot to force it and you should be fine.

Performance wise, it's at least similar...on mine(i7-3770/GTX970) I lost 2 fps avg but it seems smoother all around. That could be due to higher ssd perf versus win7, I'm not sure.
