It's pretty much a tossup between Terra (one Ring to rule them all indeed), Alpine (Tons of unclimbable places, which means long pointless pathways with no cover) and Veridian (that mist that force you to play in heatvision and all the terrible pebbles and steps you get stuck on as if it's a wall).

River City night - visibility and to clustered

alpine peaks - bleak and bland with one hill that gets most attention. needs trees to block parts of the hill and give map some flavor.

Caustic Valley - Good map just needs a few tree clusters to offer some cover from range, may be a tunnel to freshen it up and some tall grass in the swampy low outside corners for diversity.

Terra Therma: Big Map with only ~1 strategy (go to center or not). boring, hot, most repetetive map

follow ups:
Canyon Network: too restrictive (no JJs or LRMs? 50% less fun)
Crimson Strait: nice designed map (visually), but tacticly very limited to the "garage" (see TerraTherma).

p.s.: i dont understand why the big maps are not fully used for objectives (anyone remembers the old alpine-conquest?)

Alpine Peaks on Conquest is one of my favorite maps. Alpine Peaks on anything else is my least favorite.

Terra Therma is not too bad if you can herd the cats into NOT going center.

Bog.

* Trees that you alternatively can or can't shoot through (with no way of telling the difference)
* 100t Mechs getting stuck on tree roots
* Hugely imbalanced - spawning on the side with the C3 'stairs' gives you a huge advantage
* Off scaling that makes my 3 story Mech feel more like an exosuit

I thought Terribad Therma was bad. Bog proved there is more residue on the bottom of the map design barrel ;)

River City...too darn small for 12v12

I may have said bog, but if your fighting with a competent group, the make belief advantage is non-existent.

Frozen City. Crap frame rates, usually turns out into the same ol' brawl in the same o'l place. The map is also too small.
HPG also. The map just makes no sense and I don't see the purpose of all that infrastructure other than just having an arena.

Alpine. At least Mordor takes tactics to play on since there is heat and a central objective with chokepoints. Alpine is just this oversized 3 minute hike ending in a very strange pokefest.

River City. Both, but if I had to choose just one River City Night.

Too small for assault or conquest with 12v12 and RCN gives an advantage to people who can take advantage of high gamma to not require night/thermal vision giving them 2x or more the view range of anyone that can't.

Given the lack of proper IR cameras and the poor spawns, River City Night gets my vote. I would never engage in a Night Battle with such terrible thermal cameras with a range of only 600m... But I guess this vote comes from a mix of not liking the map and not liking the equipment (which really determines how much I dislike this map).

Terra Therma. Matches almost always become cluster*ucks in the middle and people slowing filing in one at a time to be murdered by the team that got there first. Suggestions for other tactics are almost always ignored.

I don't understand the hate for Alpine. I play a HBK-4G brawler and I still love that map. I enjoy the site lines and open space. Sure it takes a while to cross it and it favours long range, but that just means that someone will be zoomed in and not paying attention when I AC20 them in the back.

Terra Therma.

Too hot, ugly place. Can't use thermal vision.

Same old crap everytime I get forced onto this map. Everyone NASCAR's to center of Mordor. Other suggestions/tactics ignored. First team to hold center usually wins. Boring.
Unless it's conquest, this map is usually not played any other way. And I prefer to not play conquest.
It's probably not a bad map to others, but this is my experience with it, since it seems there is no other place that is ideal to hold and defend besides Mt. Doom.

I'd jump out of my chair and do a happy dance if I could remove this map from my que.

terrible therma then bog...**** maps. Therma because whoever gets to the center first typically wins. One side is way shorter than the other to get to the center. So you kinda know as soon as you drop if you have the larger chance to win or lose.
