For me there is no bad map. Only wrong mechs.
Ok, Terra frackin Therma is really not my favorite. Always the same stupid "waiting in a queue to enter the crater" stuff but for the most part it's the wrong mech that leads into total destruction.
A Direwolf on Alpine Conquest can be a pain in the ass but a supporting Raven Scout with NARC, TAG and some nasty modules can be a lot of fun.

I have 2 separate PC's that have similar issues, also a guy i drop with regularly which is a totally different PC and different area geographically has the same issue.

I have a Intel i7 3770, Windows 7 PC w/ 16G RAM and Nvidia GTX 750ti, All up to date drivers, Framework, Video Cards...yadda yadda.

And i have a older Quad Core i re did a bit ago for the general use PC it actually has LESS issue running MWO then the i7 but i dont get the performance or the frame rate the i7 gets naturally.

It has....
Intel Q6770 Quad Core w/ 8GB Ram, Windows XP, GT 700 series card. Everything is up to date on this one as well....just re did the thing and i check regularly. I have ran the repair tool multiple times (i must use it every 2 patches it seems anyway) and tried numerous re installs nothing changes it. At this point i am 100% confident it is not my computer. My/PGI's network on the other hand....

I just dont understand how this game is the ONLY game out of the 20 or so i play and the 1,000's of emulators i use that i cannot figure out the issue. Makes me think it isnt on my end, i could be wrong though. Wont be the first or the last i'm sure! :P

Alpine hands down.

I am so utterly sick of fighting on that damn mountain, I want to barf. Honestly I enjoy the map on Conquest because it brings the mechs off the mountain and into a decent brawl but otherwise I hate it completely.

Alternatively they could just take a lesson from Wargamming and WoTs and just rework the damn map so that in some recent past, a KEW was used in an orbital strike turning the mountain into mostly rubble. God I would love that.

Terra Therma, because nobody understands how to play that map. The PUG zapper is the one of the most frustrating map features to fight around.

I'm not a huge fan of Mining Collective, but Terra Therma . . . ugh, no thanks.

Terra Therma. I don't like the look of the map (personal opinion) and it really seems to encourage bad tactics. Too many people rush to be near the center, and then lose their nerve on the ridge (only to back into the person behind them who did the same thing). There's no real advantage to holding the center either. You have very limited fields of fire and no cover, but the map is desihned to funnel players right into that volcano.

I just never seem to have any good games on that map. They all feel like fuster clucks to me.

Forest Colony or Frozen City. Hard to see = less fun, even if the haze or fog is "realistic"

Some mechs are specialized.

Nobody should drop an Awesome on Terra Therma.
"Hey guys, we're going to drop a mission on a planet zone that is a scorching volcano"
"Hell yeah! Let me fire up my 9M and get it on the drop ship, ER-PPCs are perfect for hot planets!"

or

"Hey Guys, there's an urban centre with a shielded cargo area that would block LRM fire right in the main path of the projected conflict."
"F yeah, let me get my AWS-8R on the drop ship for this mission!"

Everything should be valid on all maps.

All these assault pilots hating on mining collective. ( its a kick ass map btw )


I'm not fond of Alpine and River City Night ...

Alpine because everyone just goes to the same location and watches the firework show ( LRMs )

River City Night ... I love to just sit and look around without using any visual enhancements (themal / night vision ) it is a beautiful map. Now playing on it is well not as enjoyable though tolerable until MM gives me it 3 times in a row LOL.

River City Night has so many problems. Fighting in the dark is just un-fun in general, but mostly it suffers from being one of the first maps. It was basically designed for a different game than we have now, and of course it hasn't benefited from all the experience the design team gained over the years.

River City Night.

An already bad map for 12v12 with bad spawn points and then add low vision on top of that, you have a real crapfest.

River city night just annoys me.

I don't mind Terra Therma to be honest ... it would be a good map if you could communicate more easily with team mates and do not always head into the centre.

That is a map that would really benefit from optional objectives outside of the centre - but not conquest style.

Terra Therma and Alpine. Hate those two. Okay most time i'm just in the wrong mech. 3 succesive times alpine in a whale is torture. especially if you try to climb that damn hill.

Terra Therma, or RCN. But if something is done about thermal/night vision I would be ok with RCN

I like River City Night and it is one of the maps I have a high win loss ratio. :D
Mount Doom is fun even though I run a lot of Laser-boats.

I absolutely hate Forest Colony. The map is way too small. And it is too dark to see anything. But to bright for night vision. That is the map I wouldn´t miss if it never came up again. (both versions of it)

Mining collective, at least until I can play it without crashing.

Once that is fixed, then Terra Therma.

Maps that I would block
1. river city/night
The map would be great for 4v4 but it was never designed for 12s.
2.forest colony/snow
Same as river city, additionally all approaches can be seen by the enemy team leaving little option for tactical movement.

I really don't understand the difficulty people have with terra or alpine. ther are my 2 best maps, yes even in brawlers.

They are both fantastic maps if you know how to use them. Nobody makes you go to the ring of death on terra, and it is actually the worst way to play the map.

Same with alpine. if you start lower don't play to the enemy strengths by assaulting the hill.
every time we defend lower base and stay hidden to draw them in close we win the map.

Terra Therman in any mode, Alpine on Assault or Skirmish.
