Love this discussion. Love the Atlas.

Atlas is by far my most used mech.

I do get this "worthy prey" feeling mentioned above alot, whenever i spot another Atlas (or fracking Direwhale or Banshee).

But I have to admit, sometimes it just that all other targets are too swift to catch :-) So I go for the other Biggies.

Button 1 - Fire everythang.

+1

I have bound that to every key - from qwert to bnm,.-
So basically I just have to smash my hand on the board.

Perhaps both pilots are confused the other one can see him, what with ECM suppose to be making him invisible and all....

HAHAHAHA or maybe the pilots think they came across a mirror and are checking them selves out. :D

if you expect to do well in a pug drop, your Atlas needs to go at least 64kph, so your able to go forward and reverse quickly to avoid incoming fire, keep up with the rest of the team, and be able to counter ankle biters trying to harass you.

Atlases in your games stop to duke it out?

In my games, that is known as "Firestarter Fodder" or "Timber Wolf Treat." ("Jager Jummies" is a third option.)

Cant wait for IS quirks to pass up. AC20 still dropping like a fly even when shielded properly only a few hits is needed to take it out.

I loved my DDC but its a huge target magnet for most like the Dire Whale is now.. Still like to drive it every so often. I would probably like it more if it was more versatile in hard points so i could do quirky builds with it. Every skilled pilot goes for the torsos first so your usually toast in the game. Getting stuck on pebbles killed it for me. Its a 100 ton mech so small rocks should not be an issue but it is.

About the AS7-S. This thing turned out to be an utter monster.

2 large lasers
4 SRM 4's
And an AC20

I've done more damage with this Atlas than any other variant.

Pfft. Any engine larger than a 325 is robbing you of firepower for minimal speed gains. You pay 10 tons for a measly 7kph. I'd rather have firepower and heat sinks.

Besides, you'll never outrun anything ever at 64 kph. Even other assaults will chase you down. What's the point? Play predictively, read the battlefield, and never commit if you aren't willing to fight to the death.

Honestly, whether the mech is good or not, there is something very majestic about an Atlas. They really do look and feel like kings of the battlefield which if you follow lore is exactly the impression they are suppose to have. That being the case, when two Atlas pilots on opposing teams come face-to-face, it feels a bit like two knights squaring off in a joust. Basically a nod, a flip of the visor and then you give spur to your charger and only one of you is going to ride away to receive the princesses favor.

Also there is a bit of a feeling of competitiveness and a need to determine who has the best build or is the best pilot when you square off against another Atlas.
