STD 275
(2) SRM 6
(4) Medium Laser
12 DHS
3.5 tons SRM ammo.
Use that shield arm alot, be a fast moving striker. 89KPH before speed tweak. 98 after...
Your alpha is 45, and you can drop 90 points damage in 4 seconds, all the while torso twisting like a mad man.
Get in get out.
Not much range, so hide early in matches so as to not take any damage....
For the A I use the XL275.
(1) AC10
(2) Medium Lasers
(3) SRM2's
4 tons Ac10 ammo, 2 tons SRM ammo, 11 Double heat sinks.
This one is even more of a flanker. Same speed, not as durable as the STD engined 275 AL. But, she has the large caliber AutoKannon. This one is hard to overheat, as you have 3 weapon systems to choose from when you get hot... the SRM2 in chain fire are very disorienting...
I really love the Centurion chassis. One of my favorite when played correctly and not like a kamikazi pilot...

cent AL: 2LPL 2 medium lasers XL275 "beam lo wang"
cent A is the best variant hands down,it just murders everything with 3 ASRM6 launchers
I have soloed 3 dire wolves with SRM-bomber A and lived to tell about it,hitboxes are that good.

The only thing the -AH has got on the other c-bill variants is the ability to equip an AC20, 2 UAC5 or 3 AC2 in the right arm, so the right arm is everything the -AH revolves around. A bit like the -YLW.
Did the same 'heavy-right-arm' with an XL235 in my -A, but I used a gauss in the right arm. Doesn't work all that well, but pretty fun. Got a few games with 500-600 damage, but gauss only shines when in pairs.
What the -A however does really well is LRM boating. 3 LRM10+A with a MLAS and TAG in the torso is one fierce little missile boat, and it only take the spot of a medium while packing the punch of a heavy LRM boat.
The classic -A variant is one that uses lots of SRMs with some lasers in the CT. It used to work really well with a STD engine, but I personally have been having a really hard time zombing lately. I die from CT destroyed or legs destroyed nine times out of ten, so for me the zombie cent is kind dead.
A nice thing about running this is that you got both arms as shields, and if you get good at using them it can take an inordinate amount of punishment before going down.

The -A with an XL, an AC10, 2 MLAS and two LRM5 is a jack-of-all-master-of-nothing setup, but personally I find it really enjoyable. It's not really good at anything, but you are always in the fight no matter what you face, so you always have something to do. I have had better success with an AC5 or UAC5 than the AC10, but it might be because I'm a bad shot or something. The lone AC10 should in theory work much better than a single AC5 or UAC5, but not for me though.
However, the Cent isn't a top tier mech no matter how you look at it, so you have to keep that in mind. But when you get the hang of protecting your right arm is becomes really fun, so don't lose hope if you have to struggle a bit at first.

CN9-AL= Weird AL
I didn't keep my Weird AL as I couldn't come up with any builds i found satisfactory, The Centbomb on the other hand is a fun and effective build for the Centurion, Enjoy.
Edit: you could also shave another ton of armor off the arms of the Centbomb and put a std275 but they are less effective as shields and you would only go 2 kph faster.
On the other hand, if you already have the 275 and not the 270 i doubt it is worth purchasing another engine

This was one of the mainstays of every competitive team a while back. The A with 3xASRM6 and 2ML. Strip the arms of everything and take a huge STD engine. It still works well, but people quickly learned to shoot for the legs. Then PGI widened the CT hitbox and it has no longer been the monster that it used to be, but it's still a great flanker/striker.
Personally I feel bad not using a gun of some kind in the RA. That is what the thing was built for afterall.

But one thing I know for sure, I'll have fun settling on a build, then even more fun mastering that build

This build works best these days if you drop it to 2xSRM4+A, 1xSRM6+A, 2xML and absolutely max that standard engine. Anything less than the 98KPH top speed is going to do poorly.

For pug grinding, you could try attrition farming with something like this

I am not sure where you are as a player, but I will word this for anyone interested.
Focus on map awareness and advantageous trades. Once you get comfortable at long range attrition and positioning, work yourself into shorter ranges. As a lone wolf, trading blows at 270-350 meters is tough and potentially frustrating.

cent A- i more or less just went and copied my D- 2ML and 2ASRM6s with a std engine (high 80s kph) messed around with the ballistic slots but i'm not really good with heavy lefty armed mechs since i use it as a shield for so long in so many other mechs so decided to just keep it bare. works decently and i usually don;t die until under 30% in it.
