Gaming The New System - Why It Sucks To Be Conquest

1) What you pick in your mode selection is your "vote" for that mode.
2) If everyone picks the same mode, that mode is more likely to happen.
3) Inversely, if few people pick that mode, that mode is less likely to happen.
4) Conquest is screwed, because it is the mode LEAST favored by players. Do a vote on it, you'll find this out quickly.
Unless all modes are "treated" the same by players, they will never be picked and likely never be run... subsequently the least favored mode is not going to be run as a result.
It's very much like mech balance in this game (at least within a weight class), except arguably worse.
I feel bad for Conquest, but then again... I'm barely rewarded for it. So... thanks PGI.

Then the problem is the design of conquest.
Or the lack of a command wheel/VOIP.
Or both.
heavies and assaults are the most popular mechs; when there's a game mode that lets people avoid the main downside of those mechs (they're slow), that's what most players are going to play
conquest is the best designed game mode (not that it's any great shakes, but still.) Good strategy on skirmish/assault results in the kind of ultra-passive 1-0 games we saw in the last tournament.

I have assault/skirmish selected due to what I see as issues with conquest. In the admittedly small sample of 5 matches I have played today in my light mech ... 2 conquest, 2 assault, 1 skirmish ... so at least anecdotally conquest is coming up far more often for me than before the patch

Some of the assault maps are so badly implemented, like river city, I just didnt want to play them anymore. Switched to conquest, but PUG conquest is herding cats over 9000. So that didnt last long either.
When Map voting comes in, i think we might see some changes in player choices. We will have to see.

I think you do have a point. It might not be the whole issue but there's definitely some relation to that. The constant repositioning needed in conquest can be quite annoying unless you're a 400xl Pretty Baby.

I have conquest deselected for a reason and that reason is because its a crappily designed POS right now.
FIx the cap times and it might at least be playable
Fix the rewards and it might at least be playable
Fix both and id be happy to play it again.
