A good mechwarrior can adapt to any game mode .... Vote equality, vote "Yes". :)

A good mechwarrior doesn't need a nerf as a crutch either. Vote "No" for skill.

-> Group ppl are already kinda getting what they want (playing with friends) so maybe their dropdecks can adapt to the minor variability of game modes. In group anyway your votes are multiplied so it's much more probable that you're getting the game mode of choice than in single drops.

Or ppl just keep taking what they want to play regardless and stop caring about winning when they land in a mode they dont want

Or ppl start alt-f4ing when they drop in a mode they dont want (which will lead to ppl getting banned over this thats against the rules)

Or ppl just rush the enemy to get killed so they can move on to the next match (which if done obviously will lead to bannings as thats supposedly bannable as well, but I really cant see that happening)

Or... Ppl just get over it and this becomes a tempest in a teapot (I know right? I think I just position at the time'd myself)

Yeah the "heavily involved" guys tend to be the whales that are keeping the game going

Me for instance, Legendary Founder, full Pheonix Pack (no saber), all the Hero mechs up to Boar's Head, Dire Wolf, Masakari and Nova bought ala carte, 8- 10 months of premium bought, several perminant camos, several colors bought, built this PC for this game (adds $900 to the total) how much is that added up anyways? Am I a whale?
i for one understand what you mean. I too have bought just as much as you and built my on PC just for this game. BUT... Just because I have spent so much on this game, does not mean I, you or anyone is entitled to get what we want. I'm not hating, bashing or anything like that. Please don't think that's my point in all this. But there are way to many people in this world that feel they are entitled to something just because they spent money on it. PGI doesn't owe us anything and I personally am to the point that I feel PGI really needs to stop asking us what we want and just do what they feel is best for the game. Why? Because us as the community as "helped" make this game what it is now and every time we ask for this or that and PGI gives it to us, most then turn right back around and say "that's not right!" "We didn't want this!" "I payed $250, why can't I play what I want?"

People are just too damned spoiled anymore and think someone owes them something all the time. This is not meant directly at you per say, but this is how I'm feeling about most of the community at large.

so if this was final and WE ALL had to deal with it, you would bail on your team and possibly cost them a match? Great team work ;)

It IS final and we DO have to all deal with it, as per russ with the comment that there arent enough devs to fix this and we have to live with it for now from earlier. Do I need to quote it?

Also theres no choice in this poll being that they cant rollback this change till after CW

Where's that coming from all of a sudden?

The text quoted in the opening post clearly states that should the vote come out that way the voting system is removed with the next patch!

My Dire Wolf can't even reach the capture points before the rest of the team has capped them and left. I am constantly trailing further and further behind, unable to be effective in any way, until the enemy team comes up in their capping mob and obliterates me as a group. I can't defend my team, because I can't reach my team.

I could play something other than my Dire, but it's my newest mech and I enjoy using it, and I can no longer know what game mode I'm going to be dropped in. Until now it was perfectly safe to use.

Im thinking they dont want us using the mechs that we paid them to use now that theyre available for MC

Horribly worded poll... so very biased in favor of maneuvering forum dwellers to pick the first "1. Yes" The issue being decided is, do we/Gamers want the ability to choose Map Mode or do we not. Structuring the first poll "Answer" to refer to "ELO competitiveness" is forum gamesmanship and smacks of manipulation and contempt. Poll correctly and offer more potential answers and are clearly worded.

Besides, the only game population benefiting from better ELO are those intentionally selecting "Resource."

Gamers being siphoned away from Assault ad Skirmish makes it more difficult / longer search times for gamers only selecting those map modes.

Important point; YOUR OPINION

Not my opinion. Youre saying that because you feel a certain way, those who dont should be forced to do what you want and go piss up a rope. How was me having a choice to what I played ruining your enjoyment of the game?

Lets flip the argument. Ppl keep asking how the change has hurt our enjoyment and to justify the different, how was the way it was before, where we had a choice in the game mode hurting your enjoymement?

That is not how it works. You get the number of votes based on the size of your team and what the drop leader sets as preferred game modes. If the drop leader of a 6 man group unchecks Conquests, your team puts in 6 votes for Assault and Skirmish and 0 for Conquest.
Yes, you're absolutely right, but that does NOT mean each player gets their own vote, it just means their vote is cast as part of the group leader's vote. Once those votes are counted into the group leader's tally, it becomes a single vote. Each group has a single vote, even if the numbers are tallied together, because they ONLY go for the leader's mode choices.

Say I have three guys in an 8-Man drop who have NOTHING BUT Conquest chosen, and prefer to play Conquest, but the group leader -and this is true for me- only has Skirmish and Assault checked -I know what the larger number of my guys prefer-, so the Conquest guy's votes go to two game modes that three of my guys don't want to play. That's NOT fair to them. Last night, I did a test, checking Conquest after one game where I didn't have it checked, but we wound up playing Conquest, anyway, and the second game ALSO wound up being Conquest, and then the third game after I unchecked it, again, was also Conquest, and then we had only one other game of Conquest the entire night. However, the fact that I had all three checked made it so five of my guys were playing a game mode they didn't want to play.

I'm advocating for individual tally of votes. If there's a tie between one or more game modes, THAT is when the dice roll should come into play, and not before.

I think forcing players onto conquest when noone has it checked or wants to play it is not a good business strategy. Be interesting to see 24 players drop onto conquest and 24 players immediately disconnect from it. My personal mech choice is way different depending on the game mode. Noone will take a dire whale at 42 kph into conquest. duhhhh guys. Common sense please.

This change doesn't strike a balance for all players.

It is satisfying only the group that make a big deal about elo balance and totally disregards players who like to play a certain game type. It's very disappointing. Vote NO.

I don't like the new change because it forces me into game modes I don't have the right mech for.In the past if I wanted to play conquest all night I could just pick a medium and conquest mode. Also if I wanted to play assault or skirmish I could pick a assault or heavy to play those modes only.

Now its like I pick a assault I get conquest or I pick a medium I get assault it just sucks bad but I would like the ELO gone and a new match making system put in its place so the questions on the poll does not make sense because they conflict each other in there statements and are counter productive to the game development.

It's simple. Vote "No" and killed solo players community and prefer team players. So, "Yes" for ELO is nice deal for all. For pro team players you have personnal matchmaker.

I voted no. I saw no improvement in matches, and I like choosing my game mode. There was also no difference in wait times for me.

I really like the ideas that Russ responded(@ pg 2) to about doing away with ELO and changing the matchmaker. ELO seems to be overly complicated for something that works so poorly. This isn't CoD, we need a matchmaker based on equipment/tonnage, not ELO(at least as the primary function). Anyways, this is prolly a moot point when CW comes out. I doubt those will be based upon any type of ELO, will get to pick who/where/when you fight(as a merc) and then matchmaker will only matter to those who don't play CW and spend a lot of time playing regular matches, or house players that might get filled in on a CW team.

It happens. I have seen 3-5 min and maybe longer wait times to get into a match. Still had 2-3 min wait times yesterday. But for me, it's always been at random. Sometimes we get right in, sometimes it takes several minutes.

If you can't get an 8 man team to agree on what modes and mechs to play before you drop there is nothing the match maker can do for you.

Tell that to the teams who run off to cap and abandon me to die alone in Conquest. Repeatedly.

IMO I hated Conquest from nearly the get-go because I play Assaults. Leaving me behind is only part of the reason too.

The other part of it is because the games nearly always devolved into a mode where you had to kill the other teams' lights/fast movers then you won by default.

The gamemode goes that once you kill the other teams' fast movers your team wins. Ive seen so many games where the surviving (but losing) team outweighs the winning one by lances of weight but you lose because the other team sacrificed their heavy/assaults to kill your lights/meds and then their lights/med just run pooint to point and stay ahead of the slow mechs you have left.

Defending points doesnt work

because sitting on one point will lose you the game (they just go cap all the rest)

because leaving one guy on a cap will get him wolf packed and killed

So yeah Id rather just opt out of the terrible game mode but now we cant and we arent gonna get a rollback if Russ is right till after CW

Which if the mode is in the game that long - be honest about it - it wont ever come back out

So why do we even have the option of selecting game mode? IMO because ppl would **** bricks even more if they took it out but this does exactly that.

I say yes. I'm playing mechwarrior because i want to play mechwarrior. Every game mode has its bright sides. But since it is 24 man fights, one can assume that they have their most and least fav game modes too. And if i am to be a good person, i should respect their opinion and play on other game modes too if others want it. Which i will do

After all if so many ppl complaining about both options i bet a button "I dont care if i have to wait 10 times longer i want to play ONLY this game mode" could be added. Yet it is to be noted that certain game modes will become much less popular since some skirmish could turn into whalefest which means much more waiting times.
