I've been wondering, how a weapon uses ammo. Does it use the ammo nearest to it, or does it start from the furthest point of ammo that is placed and works inwards? Or does it go from left to right, top to bottom, or vice-versa? Is there a way to customize it to use ammo in a certain order, or does it use one of the ways I listed just above it?

I have been wondering the same thing every time I put ammo in a place it may get blown off.

Magic.
I can have a SSRM launcher in my head and the ammo in my feet and it just appears despite how much damage is in between.

Reading comprehension. Apparently it's not a thing anymore.

Oh I know, but it felt appropriate.

The question was answered in the infamous Karl Berg thread, but given that the ammo screen in the cockpit doesn't work the majority of the time, it would've been useful to track things like this. There "is" an order, but if I could tell you it, I would. (I don't remember, and am still unsure if the info is actually correct).

PGI would actually benefit from integrating that info into the game, when adding ammo to your mech.

I answered this in the 1st post after the OP. Click the link, scroll 1/4 of a page. There is a diagram.

Edit: JK, no I didn't. Scroll down for correct answer.

It's inaccurate, because of this:

Okay, well then that's the answer :

CT->RT->LT->RA->LA->LL->RL->Head unless it's bugged.

Why is that so hard to say?

Because I forgot and my google searchfu of the boards brought me success.

Speaking of Ammo, did we ever discover if CASE works or not?
I seem to recall that being a discussion before my absence.

I haven't died to Ammo Explosions in any of my Clan mechs, so...yeah?

AFAIK it does, but there may be confusion from other people regarding that.

I don't think anyone has seen what's supposed to happen in the CASE of ammo explosions covered by the item itself. Most people don't bring CASE, and it may be hard to decipher whether damage to the CT is dealt by the ammo explosion (like the Atlas-RS Champion's Gauss Rifle RT) or by damage transfer. I don't think damage transfer is dealt in addition to the ammo explosion (as in, ammo explosion occurs, damage dealt by weapons, minus ammo explosions are transferred to CT).

Then again, we have the Kintaro with CASE+XL, confusing the boatload of the population.

Stop the mixed messages PGI... or learn to lab in your own game.

CASE in Clan Mechs operate differently because they go in "virtually every section", though useless for the head+CT, but death by ammo explosion is possible... but rare. It is very possible to lose an entire section due to ammo explosions (it would be treated like accelerated damage).

So, the answer is "Maybe"?

Glad that was resolved.

It does work as one would expect, it prevents at least one ton of ammo from transferring to the CT.

Although, the reason I state at least one ton is because there was a dev post at one point who said it did only that; prevent a single explosive ton from going to the CT.

I'm not too sure if that holds true, though. I've had my LRM boat Awesome go up, but with Case installed, and nothing game of it. Although, I do remember a particular 3E match where the same thing happened, but I did take some CT damage, as though a mostly consumed ammo bin blew into the CT. Slightly yellow, so no major damage, but still armour on both front and back. That was concerning.

I'm not too sure about that, but I can confirm it does stop at least one ton from killing you. If you have STD engine, of course.

Ultimately, ammo explosions are infrequent at best, and even then only when you're already taking heavy damage early enough in a match to still have ammo there. Keep in mind, you can ONLY put CASE in the Side Torsos, and ST ammo is burnt right after CT ammo, so you'd almost always use it first because pretty much nobody loads ammo in their CT.

So, the likelyhood of dying to an ammo explosion that even COULD have been prevented via CASE (that is, a STD engine mech with ammo in the side torso) is extremely slight - so much so, that wasting half a ton on CASE is just foolish.

They are so rare, it's hardly worth 0.5 tons. 1.4% blowing chance if you have two tons in the Leg. (Via PPC/AC10/10+ pts of PP FLD)
