And when their opinion doesn't line up with yours, they're "elitists" who only care about beating up new players?

When you look at some of the names of the folks against it and look at their previous posts in the forums as well as the attitudes they have displayed in game...........yes.

There are also a bunch of people saying, "after the game we started is finished." That's still a "no," but there's no elitism involved. Why are we ignoring them?

Because they are being reasonable, by asking us to wait until the game is at stable state (CW is finished and no new major changes are in the pipeline), so something like PvE can be worked on with minimal disruption to everything else. They are being "ignored" in those many of those desiring PvE are not tossing out "I want it now statements." We are discussing what can be, not when it can be.

Would be good for the game if they went mmorg, combining pvp and pve.

I'm all for this game being as deep and vast as possible. New gameplay elements are nearly impossible to argue against, but what's being discussed here is basically another game entirely.

I'm not going to come in and poop on people's good time, imagining all the fun things that could be, but if we're just being realistic, none of these ideas are likely to happen any time in the next 5 years.

That is a possibility I will acknowledge. As for a new game, well, most PvE is. The thing with PvE is, unless it is Co-Op only, it can be a stand alone product if need be. Still fun to talk about and who knows, maybe the devs will drop in and take notes on what players may want for PvE design. They seem to be doing so lately.

They would have to design an entire AI system. No easy task even for a big company.

Look, for online, sure. A Company or half Company or Lance v/s AI. Things like that. But I want MW:O finished if you're talking about single player. Adding AI to multiplayer would allow for things like large bases, convoys, drones, more complex air/vehicle support, etc. But if you're not talking about multiplayer, I have to disagree.

I dont know how else to make it MORE clear to people who dont bother reading the origanal post, and countless other posts along with other peoples ideas. Its for both PVE AND CO-OP!!!!!!! PO TA TOES boil them, mash em, cook em in a stew.

PVE

Person Versus Environment. That can either be single player or cooperative multiplayer. You should clarify "Cooperative Multiplayer PVE" so people don't get confused like me.

Thankfully, there will be no PvE implemented into this game for years, if ever, because of CW. So, I don't have to vote against it, but still don't want to see it. If you like PvE and are too scared or not skilled enough to face human opponents, go play a PvE game.

"Omg bobF, you're such an elitist by opposing our imaginary pipedream option to have AI mechs we can farm!"

No, I'm really not. This same BS happens in every game that endeavors to try and mix the two, you get a bunch of carebears demanding content every few seconds as they consume it, and pretty soon all the devs work on is PvE content. I'm glad someone cited GW2; I've played that game and basically PvP takes a second seat to the devs making more quests and items and expansions. PvP is stagnant there, and the sequel has proven to be a second-class successor to the immaculate original. Don't believe me? Go visit their forums.

This is a mech FPS, not a space age dungeon crawl. Again, I don't even need to point out how dumb and unrealistic it is to ask the devs to make a whole new game to bolt on to their already shallow pvp that needs help, or how it would detract from pvp development, or how it would take additional years of planning and testing to implement. But by all means, continue to fantasize.

I vote a big no. Going against real people will always be more interesting. So I have no desire for them to waste time on something most of us have no desire to play.

you seem to be a minority, when you say no, do you mean the 13 people who said no? 30+ said hell yes or something close.

Maybe the reason the game needs help, and the reason its dying is because of the poor choice to try and change a game from its original role as PVE/PVP to just pvp. You wiped out an intire community of people who loved the game but hate PVP. Theres always people who are going to be apposed to 1 or the other. I like both, but theres people just like YOU, who HATE PVP and refuse to play pvp ever.

EDIT: On the flip side, if this was an all PVE game and people were bitching it wasnt PVP theyd be here bitching and whining just like you that that theres no PVP that theyd stomp their feet, avoid the game, never pay, come here on the forms and troll PVE noobs, and then eventualy go back to playing the game just like YOU'RE doing. *Slow Clap* This is self entertainment.

Not an elitist, just a dezgra, translate it as you will. I'd put my W/L and KDR up against yours any day of the week. The difference is, I am honest enough to admit that a large percentage of my wins and kills are against new players (that this game handicaps the piss out of) and low skilled players (probably like yourself). PVE requires more thought than "buy Direwhale (or other clan junk), min/max the weapons, hunt new players". You might try it some time.

Realistically, we probably won't get PvE until they open up some bits for community help. With the proper groundwork in place (game mode, AI, etc), PvE scenarios would mostly be a little scripting for the events and objectives. Exactly the type of stuff people could do en masse. (I bet some players might even have BT Fan fiction they could use for copyright free content)

If PGI took more of a hosted approach, stuff like this could be opened up to the community without comprimising copyrights or changing their original content.

It's doable, but still not very likely.

I want a single player campaign like all the past MW games. Possibly, a House campaign, a Merc one (à la MW4) and a Clan one, or at least i want to be able to play either as a Clan warrior or an IS warrior.

As stated several times, the only people that don't want PVE are the ones that measure their life success by the number of games they win against noob and low skilled video gamers, pathetic actually.

Passing some prety big judgements here boy

No, please, do go on

story driven PvE seperate from pvp, would be superb, but I don't think we'll get it.

the old titles were PvE with PvP tacked on

alot easier to produce

PvE? Meh. 4-man Co-op campaign with procedurally generated maps & enemies? That I can get behind.

There should always have been a short PvE Tutorial when players first start this game....Sort of like a MWO Boot camp.

Working through walking, twisting, and shooting at a set of moving targets/mechs prior to some cut scene giving you the build up playing Online against Real players.

As far as PvE as a game mode or concept, integrated into the game yes, Trucks, tanks, planes, helo attack choppers all of that could be assets usable in the combat arena, not there as major issues, but as minor annoyances that if not dealt with can bleed you like a thousand cuts.

By all means produce a PvE game separately, maybe having certain goals giving mech skins/cockpit items in the online game etc, cross tie in like Blizzard do across their titles.

Ai can be programmed very well or very poorly, smart AI in games though rare, can mean a more gratifying and absorbing game immersion than ring around the Caldera, be it Mordor, Death canyon, or Candyfloss mountain.
