Pve Yes/no You Deside!

Personally I'm all for it, I like a mix of PVP and PVE...it's fun to beat up on living, breathing morons, but sometimes you get tired of people altogether and just want to immerse yourself in storyline, I'd enjoy both in the same game, same concepts.
Anyone who thinks that this game will survive much longer without some kind of added content being injected is dreaming, and yeah, there's CW, and that's sort of semi-promising, but I have a bad feeling about it, and think that if something goes too wrong with CW, or it's not interesting enough/doesn't carry enough incentive, the game needs a backup, something to do when everything else falls flat.
I can grind out drops all day and night, but for how many months, how many years? Same stuff, different day, over and over? At least PVE would allow them to "inject" new content, missions, maps, etc, whenever they can.
So in the long run, it doesn't matter if you agree with the OP or not, like them or not, or think PVE is for carebears or not...they're already looking into it, because they're a business, and they know that for this business to remain profitable, they'll need more content, which more than likely means PVE. You can all move on to getting over it now.

I doubt any of us are dumb enough to believe they will have finished PVE content in 2015, rather semi excited that atleast its on the drawing board of PGI.

You need to reading this thread then. It has been explained several times how PvE can benefit the game.

Where they just throw endless streams of enemies against you in waves. That game mode is popular in other games, and you dont have to do all that much work for it. The AI is rudimentary because the challenge comes from numbers and from waves getting progressively bigger mechs without you getting a chance to repair.
You dont have to make the AI very comprehensive because all it has to do is move towards you and shoot.
Thats remotely feasible.
I dont get how survival modes are all that exciting.
I essentially played that mode in BF2142 on Camp Gibraltar.....it really gets insanely boring. Sitting in a small area shooting whoever and w/e comes up the road......
I personally much prefer being able to move around the map, having multiple objectives, maybe send in waves of reinforcements to increase difficulty, and random triggers of forces to up the hard factor, but jsut sitting and shooting wave after wave, after wave, after wave, after wave.....until your mech or man or force, runs out of health and dies off 1 by 1.........

They are not unless there are some dynamic spawning and minor objectives which force players to move. Then it gets interesting because players cannot bunker down in a good defensive position. They actually have to respond or fail/be overwhelmed.
Fuse does this really well in a third-person shooter Co-Op setting.

Listen, this game CANNOT servive many years and fund PGI's constant map and mech development financialy if it doesnt have 2 modes of game play. Theres probably a good majority, Id even be as bold to say 100,000 gamers who would flock to this game if it went PVE. Theres tons of people who would love PVE and a PVE mix. I've almost left a few times and never looked back specificly because when I was starting out as a noob there were people like you who kicked my ass over and over again. It made it extremely difficult to gain ground and lvl up because every1 I was facing had fully moduled and mastered mechs. I could hardly do any damage and I didnt even understand arm lock and how to use it.
Theres so many features in this game that take a while for the average novice to incorperate and learn on their own. ESpecialy since the friends, and chat system is so non-user friendly. I didnt have ANY friends for almost 8 months of playing the game. Its vital that the game progress & evolve into a wider interest game. Theres all types of gamers, even Role Players who play these types of games. I love history, and lore is very interesting to me but doing PVP is not part of the Lore. Its just duking it out over and over proving you got what it takes to kill some1 else "THE END"
PGI can only do so much for PVP till theres nothing left to do. Sure Nerfs arent difficult at all, its just minor tweeking. Map development, those rescorses should go towards PVE, and inturn the maps that are salvaged from PVE, PVP players can enjoy as well. All maps created in PVE can also in turn be used in PVP. Its a win-win sinario. How can you be so blind to the potential?

When that "Dev" is Russ Bullock, I know that we will possibly see something a year from now, thanks to IGP being thrown to the curb, AND they have been meeting or surpassing deadlines (mistakes not withstanding) now since June. Guaranteed finished product? pffft... who knows??? All depends how hard it is to do for them.

they've abandoned Transverse already??? I haven't heard a word about that.
They'd still have been better served to make it Aerotech which could stand alone as well as blend into MWO.

For those who don't want PvE, then simply don't play it. Stick to you dull PvP battles. But I shouldn't be denied full enjoyment of this game because you like something else instead.
Thankfully, Russ has said that if there is enough interest from the player base, PGI will look into PvE after they finish rolling out CW. This topic proves that there is plenty of interest for PvE. So I'm hoping to see more information about PvE from PGI in the coming months.
So how would PvP benefit from PvE? For starters, it introduces a much needed tutorial. Secondly, it can also add AI units into the PvP matches in the form of tanks, ground forces, and aerospace units that are defending strategic locations or even train against in the testing grounds. And lastly, more maps. Yes, there will be many maps that will be exclusive to PvE, but the need to create more maps for PvE on a regular bases can help refine the map making process, which means that PGI can pump out better PvP maps at a much quicker pace.
So whether you are PvE player or a PvP player, having a PvE side of the game is a win-win for all.
If I knew this post was going to recieve so much support I should have posted sooner. However with recent details coming to light and attention now drawing to PVE I think everyone here who is in support of PVE can relate in some mannor. Your thoughts are exactly how I wanted to put it but just didnt come out right. You hit the nail on the head with this thread, ty.

- It's not on the agenda. It was mentioned at the height of the Transverse implosion and then the words "NO PROMISES! NO PROMISES!" followed it tightly. It's not even on the docket.
- PGI can't code AIs. They didn't want AIs in Transverse, they couldn't even get the turrets to work right for six months and they aren't even moving. They don't have AI programmers and aren't likely to hire any. Which also brings up...
- This won't be a detailed campaign game. They don't have the resources to produce the number of maps, scripts, missions, etc. to be anything like a normal MW game. If anything, it'd be what we have now, with bots.

This doesn't deserve a pin.
It'd be great if it magically happened but it would be a whole new product, or otherwise, just a crappy botmatch version of MW:O. The priority levels for adding this to the game are in the negatives.
Again: The "2015" thing was made under absolute diress, and are clearly outside of the scope of PGI's resources, so please do everyone (including yourself) a favor and don't expect anything.

It's like trying to explain global warming or why the sun comes up every day to a republican, better off giving up now, while you have some brain cells left.
Whether we have PVE or not, it's a good idea, and I hope to see it someday, even if it does take years, and hopefully a lot of the negative, hardcore, "PVP is the ONLY thing worth doing because my worth is measured in K/D ratio in games, RAAAAWWWRR!!!111oneQQ!!1" crowd will be bored by then and move on to being negative and complaining in other games whenever someone makes a suggestion they don't personally jive with.
Until then, I think it's healthy to discuss, as history in MWO has shown that forum discussions can and do lead to actual changes in game, so if it's important enough, and doable, it's worth putting out there.

Its one thing to say "it will never happen" to an intire community of gamers who already stated Yes/halfway yes, or showed interest to this subject than to just dismiss the possibility all together.
PGI could simply hire a AI developer if need be if theres enough interest involved. This subject needs support from fans and gamers who value MWO in anyway for its future. If you have no morals and discriminate a product just because you dislike it then you can simply quit now. I love MWO, I want it to be successfull and maybe even hopefully 5 yrs from now another MWO2 will come out if this 1 is profitable but straite up pvp yeilds low income. I'm sure PGI started out on PVP due to the previous MW being dropped by Sponcers and were afrraid this 1 would be a flop so they started out with the most promising trend of the time. Community Warefare was booming, and now the times have changed, MWO is evolving with player demand and interest. Its the gamers who decide whats to come. This is a business. PGI listens and has promted to listen due to demands in the past and they read posts. They know whats going on in the game because they get paid to. If they didnt lisen to their business models voices then this game would collapse in on itself.
![](https://static.mwomercs.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/wacko.png)
I know atleast 50 people personnaly who play gw2 right now who love PVE, and know about MWO through me. They refuse to download it and even play it because they dont like conflict with other players. They just want to work, come home, relax and do some gaming alone and enjoy life. They dont like the egotisticle mindset you see in some PVP matches and theres alot of anger associated with pvp sometimes with emotions and unfair advantages. They told me theyd come check the game out if it ever had PVE content.
![](https://static.mwomercs.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/mellow.png)
EDIT: The 50 players or more are just people I know, I'm just 1 person, think of the countless other players on here who all have friends unlike some of the trolls here who consistantly argue their point that this game will never change if we keep just PVP. Theres 10s of thousands of people who are all friends with some1, and we all know people who would play and who wouldnt because its PVP and not PVE.

Really, a whole 50 people? Oh, my god, we gotta make PvE right now because those 50 people will totally prevent the game from... what did you say before? Oh, ya "it cannot survive without two game modes" [/end sarcasm]
(point of fact: 10,000 people signed up for the last challenge. This number is not inclusive of the total player base since the majority do not sign up for them. Stat provided by devs)
Listen, I'm all for discussing what could be in a PvE Mechwarrior title, or how PvE elements could be incorperated. But, when you and others start talking in absolutes like "the game needs PvE to survive" (paraphrased) and/or start with the negativity against anybody who disagrees with you (even though in your original post you ask for agreement or disagreement), then you are just making yourself look like a fool, or worse, a troll.
If you are looking to start a thread that will be pinned, then have an open discussion of what could be. Talk civilly with people and explore ideas. Do not attack those who disagree. Do not make blanket statements like "straight up pvp yields low income" without facts and most definitely do not insult others. Saying people have no morals will not get you any support on these forums.
