Ranking Clan Wave 1 Mechs

1. Timber Wolf (Is supposed to me the best mech in the game!)
2. Dire Wolf (Monster Alpha)
3. Stormcrow (Have heard it referred to as the Doomcrow)
4. Kit Fox (Got it. Love it. ECM + JJ + Firepower) (Maybe s/b 3 on my list)
5. Nova (Awesome Alpha in its weight class)
6. Warhawk (Understand this could be a great LRM boat)
7. Adder (I rarely hear much about it)
8. Sommoner (I understand this mech is broken until JJ are redone)
Would like to hear your opinions. I am by no means an expert but this is what I have learned through my experience and reading the forums.

1. Timber Wolf, Dire Wolf, Storm Crow
2. Nova, Kit Fox, SRM Summoner
3. Everything else
The Timber Wolf, Dire Wolf and Storm Crow are all fantastic mechs, each the best in it's own weight class. It's hard to rate which among them is best as the Dire Wolf has a completely different role to the others and the Storm Crow and Timber Wolf are actually quite close in power (the TW gets more armor and extra firepower, but is 20 tons heavier, so...)
The Nova is IMHO, solid and has it own use. The Summoner seems to me to be a good SRM brawler but it lacks hardpoints. The Kit Fox also has it's use as the only Clan ECM mech (before the Hellbringer arrives).
The rest of the Clan mechs, the Adder, the Warhawk & other Summoner builds seem to be quite lackluster. The Adder is too slow and doesn't bring anything great to the table. The Warhawk has the same problem as the Summoner, lack of hardpoints.

2. Dire Wolf
3. Stormcrow
4. Kit Fox
5. Warhawk
6. Adder
7. Nova
8. Summoner
The first thee are just generally the best in their class and overall. Good firepower on all, speed and durability on two of them and more firepower on the other.
Kit Fox would be 8 if not for ECM.
Warhawk has a very niche roll. Its not terrible, but it competes with the Timber Wolf in weight constrained environments and the Dire Wolf in class constrained environments. In this case, not terrible isn't good enough.
I think the Adder is decent damage upgrade over the Kit Fox for only 5 tons. Its really the loss of ECM that makes such a difference.
The Nova has been hit really hard by the laser heat increase, I don't think gaining 5 extra tons by using the Nova instead of a Stormcrow is worth it.
Same deal with the Summoner, except I think the Nova may be more dangerous than the Summoner.
The last three are really about equal to me. You could put them in any order.

2.) Stormcrow - hitboxes and size relative to tonnage is an outrage.
3.) Warhawk - strong fire support platform for anyone with position awareness.
4.) Dire Wolf - supreme direct firepower for a price of being a slug.
5.) Summoner - viable fire-support mech, but has no pros compared to others.
6.) Kit Fox - nice mech overall, but not something you'd take for public games.
7.) Nova - could be ok if not for the weapon locations and size.
8.) Adder - piece of junk.

You can run 30-40 tubes and 1400 missles...
Fire a couple times and then scoot.

My Suckoner rating was influenced by the 5 SRM6 loadout, which is actually quite threatening. Excluding that one, though, I don't have much fear of Suckoners. I would rate non-5SRM6 loadouts as under the Cute Fox.

That I don't have an answer for unless you wish to fire a couple PPCs and run for cover...
Same thing for the Mad Dog, why not just take the Timberwolf, as the Mad Dog is just a lesser version of the TimberWolf.

Well, the Mad Doge can at least boat 6 missiles, for what that's worth.

Its hard to contest this list
1. Timber
2. Dire / Stormcrow
3. Stormcrow / Dire
4. Warhawk
5. Summoner
6. Kit-Fox
7. Nova
8. Puma
Their or their abouts anyway.
However Adder = Badder, sorry I gotta disagree, find a build that works and its a good 'Mech, ok so its not as fast as the IS lights, but it can do a lot of varied builds, some of which have the firepower of IS Mediums.

For that style list, I would put the Summoner above the Kit Fox.
I might also put the Dire Wolf above the Timber Wolf for team play. It's power is hugely magnified when it's supported.

SCR
DWF
SMN
KFX
WHK
NVA
ADR
The top two are very close and fixed JJs on the TBR will make them moreso I think.

Tier 1 - No positive quirks needed, good as is
Tier 2 - General very good but could benefit from 1 or 2 positive quirks
Tier 3 - Average all around, needs quirks to compete with Tier 1 and 2 mechs.
Tier 4 - Below Average, needs major quirks to bring up to par
Tier 5 - Hopeless, quirks might not be enough to fix.
Tier 1:
Timber Wolf
Stormcrow
Both are excellent mechs that offer alot of versatility and customization. No changes needed to either one to make them competitive.
Tier 2:
Dire Wolf
Kit Fox
These are generally ok where they are though maybe could benefit from a few minor quirks. Honestly, they are probably close to tier 1 levels right now in my opinion. Kit Fox and Dire Wolf could perhaps benefit from a bit more speed retention while climbing. In the case of the Dire, honestly it gets hung up on the smallest of objects/slopes, many small enough that it should be able to just step over with ease, which is a bit out of line even for a mech that isn't suppose to be agile. Other than that, they are fine.
Tier 3:
Mad Dog
Warhawk
Both could benefit from a few positive quirks just to iron out a few flaws. Mad Dog builds, even those that solely use C-ER MLs generally seem too hot. Warhawk just needs a few odds and ends to smooth out wrinkles, prehaps quirks that increase its agility a bit or focus on weapons or builds were it is a bit weaker.
Tier 4:
Nova
Adder
These guys definitely need help. Nova needs a large quirk that allows it to deal with heat better, honestly could benefit from a complete scaling make over to fix the fact it is scaled so incorrectly it is laughable. Adder needs....well something, perhaps more omnipod options that give it the option to add more light weight energy weapons or JJs.
Tier 5:
Summoner
This one is pretty hopeless right now. Basically the best (and maybe only somewhat decent) build is a UAC/20, 4 C-ER ML but a Timber Wolf S would do it better. No reason what so ever to choose this mech and quirks aren't going to change that. Needs additional Omnipods that will allow it to increase firepower levels without relying on heavy energy and ballistic weapons.

it's likely the best mech ingame for many reasons.
1. highly configuration of weapon loadouts.
2.very nice agility + speed
3.reasonable tanking *think warhawk is even less good then timber*
4.the sweat-spot of weapon tonnage VS carry tonnage.
5.Even esthetic pleasing, for most people.
rest of the Clan mechs are not really much better or worse then IS.
