So 240 Tons In A Drop Deck Pgi?

I was just wondering if you guys have set the 240 tons in stone yet? Theres a large amount of us id imagine that are waiting to purchase mechs, until we have some idea what thats going to entail.
I figure with December not that far away, and the usual delays pushing it into Mid January (no big deal, life is life) we still really only have a few months until... CW!
Ive ground up 129 million cbills. Got my bank card ready to camo them up Capellan style...
But...yeah not going to do that until I know what I can bring. If it drops to 220, or raises to 260...I will have wasted cbills, or have to entirely rethink my four mechs.
Alsoooo.
Ill co-opt this post for looking for a unit. I guess I should start doing that now. Any Laio out there want to help a brother out?

Agree. 240 tons is great.
My plans right now are two 55 tonners and two 65 tonners and this is the cool thing about the 240 ton limit. It is going to push down the weights taken quite a bit so we should see a much broader range of mechs in CW than we do in random drops. In fact we might actually see alot of mediums and lights as go to mechs.
For example, you want to bring a Dire or Atlas, your going to be hard pressed to fit in 3 more mechs in with only 140 tons. This means maybe two 35 ton lights and a 70 ton heavy or two 55 ton mediums and a 30 ton light. Want to bring two Timber Wolves, that is fine but then your looking at a Stormcrow and a Kit Fox or 2 Ice Ferrets but your not going to be able to bring 3 Timber Wolves because you have to have 4 mechs and there will be nothing light than a 25 tonner to fill in that number 4 slot.
Perfect weight in my opinion.

If they realize this isn't good/doesn't work/has issues halfway through the first season you may have to buy new mech(s) anyway....if i was this worried about it before CW even started maybe you should just wait until its up and running and they make any initial changes before you blow the 129 mill?
Hate to see you miss out on ANY of it but better then wasting money IMO.

At least it isn't 1/1/1/1 because that would be really stupid.

I just want to start buying some stuff for CW. If it gets tweaked down the road thats great...I dont mind. I just want to buy 240 tons of mechs, and have that be a worthwhile and smart purchase.
I like the idea, and cant wait to get to playing with respawn and objectives. I just want to make sure at least at launch, what our limit is.

That being the case just assume it will be 240 and never change as that is the least offensive option they have come up with so far and is likely where it will stay for the time being.

Yeah this is exactly how im feeling at the moment. I dont want to miss out of anything, but I also dont want to waste money.
Its still a few months, Ive been playing alot more lately, the longer I wait to buy, the more cbills and hard cash ill have saved up, and the more options ill have once I see the final product on release.
Its just been a long journey to 129 mil lol... I started at around 3 mil a few months ago, sold off my Hunchie, Locust, and K2, kept my Wubshee because it was the only one I really *wanted* for CW. So I guess with some luck and good challenges here over the next few months I can grind up another 100 mil and be in a great position to get whatever I want.
I want to do IS at least for a while, so ive got a ridiculous amount of choices.

You know I was thinking about the Light/Medium they said were slam dunks.
Isnt the Cicada the only 40 tonner? When I was trying to come up with how to spend the other tons other than my 95 for the Wubshee, I kept coming back to wanting a 40 tonner...but the only option is the Cicada. Im pretty sure our new IS medium someday early next year, is probably a 40 tonner. Every other weight class but 20 and 25 seems to have two choices.

Well for me I would go with the Jager and get the Cicada as I prefer the Jager over the Phract most of the time, and having ECM on the Cicada will be more useful than the Sara mech.
My two drop decks so far I think will be as follows.
Jester
Firebrand
Thunderbolt 9s
Blackjack
and
Banshee/Atlas
Jester/Firebrand/Thunderbolt
Cicada
Firestarter/Raven

So im stuck I think either going with a Locust or Commando, and then wedging in an LRM boat on the heavy side. Kind of a bummer. The cicada is a great mech, but just not what I want.

I can't see a reason why you would be unable to take more of the same variant, so long as you actually owned multiples of that mech. I'm not sure how they have it programmed, but I imagine that it would be more work to stop that kind of thing.

Yeah, well, PGI's track record of coming up with expensive, time-consuming and complicated solutions while ignoring easy, fast fixes isn't great.
Hence my desire for confirmation

I'm testing the Phract right now, the Jager is a known quantity for me
I was thinking the same thing about the Cada

Pretty much no reason not to allow multiples of the same variant. If you own 'em, you can use 'em.

2 X Assault + 2 X Light
3 X Heavy + 1 X Light
While I'd love to see 4 X Medium (or Medium + Heavy decks), I don't think we will.
