It's a nice thought to buff the Atlas but until it is on a level playing field with the Direwolf then there's no point. The only other solution would be to give IS mechs a tonnage advantage. But then you have an imbalance still in random matches.

These "buffs" are a pathetic joke.

We heard you the first time.

Keep in mind the Atlas can run 10-15kph faster and torso-twist far more effectively than a Dire Wolf can.

It doesn't alpha for 100 damage at 400m or kill a fresh assault mech in 7 seconds either.

Thank God, then everyone would be running one.

Just realised why you lot are disagreeing with me, the Meta in EU is LBX/SRM, but NA is PPC/GAUSS etc, hence the different PoV

Um...just because it's got two ballistic hardpoints...that doesn't make it meta. Meta is what works. Not what fits.

Meta is what works by how big of a thing you can cram into the slot. It's why jarheads love it.

I have a couple of DDCs and D variants. I run LBX on the D funnily, and an AC20 on the other. as for the DDCs, 2xUAC5 and an AC20.

The whole "meta" thing really isn't that big of a deal: it boils down to your play style. My DDC with the 2 UACs is a longer to medium range support brawler, with ERLLAS and able to dish out the pain and then finish them with 3xSRM6 atermis up close.

my other DDC is a monster short range brawler with 79.9 damage rating, and runs an AC20.

LBX are cool, but the AC20 is also very cool. the whole meta argument really doesn't matter end of the day. only your build, aim, and playstyle.

I figured that. Should go and play Call of Duty if he wants an IWIN button that he seems to desperately be seeking.

Ive run over so many Direwolves with my Atlas its not even funny. I dont care who you are, 3 srm6 ac20 with 2 large lasers will shred any mech to pieces within 270m. Good Atlas pilots lead the charge and soak damage to the arms. Now its gonna be that much harder to kill them with structure to the torsos and the AC20 and srm6's will keep firing for longer. They will be a terror on the battlefield.

The problem isn't the 1v1. The problem is that a direwolf left alone will shred your team faster than an Atlas. The Direwolf will shred things faster at a longer range too.

Considering the Meta Build for the D does not use an AC/20 and uses either 2xLBX10 or 2xUAC5, (D-DC uses LBX10), the D-DC still remains the king of the Atlas's. If the D-DC gets the SRM Quirk it actually takes an even bigger lead against the other Atlas models.

My AS7-D has had an AC/20 on it since I purchased it with Founders. There's no reason to bring anything else. The UAC5s require too much face time and the LBXs don't punch holes fast enough while weighing almost twice as much. The AC/20 is the best choice for the Atlas, and I'm super pumped to be getting these buffs.

Good that they have been listening :)

If your running the Meta build you are not running an AC/20 on a DDC, you are running 2xLB10X

LBX10s are meta for nearly every brawler in the game mate, I'm sorry if you don't know this or don't agree with me, but at the highest levels of play LBX10 are absolutely meta

It seems the "Meta" has moved on to laserspam. The WubShee is the closest to Meta it's ever been.

As for the crit bonus, that's not until after you open them, while the FLD damage of the AC20 will deal 20 crit damage as soon as the armour is breached. That means it will destroy components even if it hits with 19 armor on that location, dealing an additional 3 damage to the IS for each crit; that is to say the AC20 can deal 29 damage with 3 crits.

Since we now know the Atlas Quirks,

Atlas AS7-D - Tier 3 Brawler

Structure Strength (RT&LT) +11
AC/20 Velocity +15%
AC/20 Cooldown +15%
SRM/6 Range +15%

We also can also surmise the Quirks for the D-DC,

Atlas AS7-D-DC - Tier 2 Brawler

Structure Strength (RT&LT) +11

And ONE of the following

AC/20 Velocity +10%
AC/20 Cooldown +10%
SRM/6 Range +10%

It looses one because of the ECM,

Considering the Meta Build for the D does not use an AC/20 and uses either 2xLBX10 or 2xUAC5, (D-DC uses LBX10), the D-DC still remains the king of the Atlas's. If the D-DC gets the SRM Quirk it actually takes an even bigger lead against the other Atlas models.

The Atlas-D Quirk needed to be either LBX10 or UAC5 based to stand a chance to bring the mech up to a level to match that of of the D-DC, and the D-DC quirk needs to be something that DOES NOT buff SRM/6

Hate it that it assumes I keep the ac20... boo...

I would have made the D more viable for long range and mixed build. The one i am running is a excellent example of a mixed build which runs very well. it's a very good chassis for this kind of combat. I know it's very though to think of what quirks it needs.

Unfortunatly with these D quirks, people will still choose the D-DC over the D. The D-DC is a very powerful chassis.

I think the only time anyone would pick an LB over a normal AC is if they are really into critseeking, or they're clans.

LB10 better than an AC/20? lolno

people prefer the LBX over AC20 because of the rate of the fire of the LBX is quicker, which people assume means more dakka.. but since it's spread out damage, and the fact that hitreg can be an issue, it's not always a deadly weapon. It also depends on your play style. If I go in head first, the LBX is not a daunting weapon to the enemy, especially lights who dodge most of the spray.. whereas I have killed several locusts/Jenners and legged many firestarters and spiders with a single well aimed AC20.

it boils down to play style. with my LBX D variant.. if I hang back and wait for the enemy to take damage, then come in with the LBX I will shred off limbs and get kills... but as an assault hanging back isn't really nice for the team (sometimes u filthy pugs deserve it tho).

The UAC5 isn't for face time at all.. it's for longer range fire supression and mech shredding. Out of the A/C options its range coupled with a pair of ERLLAS make it a deadly combo... I've torn off limbs and gotten lots of kills with it. The only time u wish u had an AC20 over the UAC5 Dual combo is when it's time for a close up brawl.. because you're tapping like crazy and bam! jam they go... leaving u just with SRMS and LAS and trying to whack out pain without overheating.

AC20/SRMs = close up ninja brawling (DDC with ECM excels obviously)
2xUAC5/LLAS = medium/long range support assault
2XLBX/SRMs = Shredder brawler, great for tearing arms and torsos off, or finishing half dead mechs.

A direwolf if piloted well will shred an atlas, especially the meta builds of UACS and Gauss... But that's kinda the point: the direwhale is supposed to be a walking weapons platform. If you find one infront of you.. if you are smart... you will maybe take a shot and reposition.. and honestly the time taking the shot is best for you to think how you're gonna deal with it.. you're gonna face to face brawl it? you will lose your torsos by it's second shot most likely, or atleast lose your cannon(s)... I always try and circle and stay on it's sides or back.. and always... always.. I cannot stress this enough... go for it's arms... shooting it's CT whilst all the pain is coming from less armored areas makes no sense.

If i'm positioned well and have the advantage of catching him off guard, I will always take out one arm and most of the other at the worst.. and at best, take out the arms and finish it whilst only losing 20-30% armor. the problem is 9/10 after I finish off the DW... and I'm like yay.. I turn and find another... and get shredded lol... One match I killed two... and thought yes finally... a third came and handed me my ass...

The atlas despite it's name, isn't a god. it get's spanked from time to time.
