Terrible idea, and I say this as a Mad Dog owner.

I would never vote in favour of locking anything that take as much development time as a new mech behind a limited time pay-wall... It is just not a sound strategy.

The Prime is different already... be happy about that.

the Reward Atlas(to my knowledge) will be rewarded to only those who support the game,
i think thats fine, because its only a variant, your saying to lock a whole mech,
that i would have to say no, as it would face backlash and problems,

from players- wanting to own the iconic MadDog,

It's one thing to lock a variant behind a paywall, such as Hero mechs and the Reward Atlas.

It's an other thing to lock an entire Chassis. I don't believe the MadDog should be locked because it has a prominent role in MechWarrior, whereas none of the individual variants that are locked would possibly have as much influence as the entire line of MadDog Mechs.

Atlas S will eventually be out for MC and c-bills. What they're handing out in a few days is a special camo version, like always.

If they did it players would accuse them of P2W regardless of how effective the maddog actually is.
Plus I want it and don't want to spend several hundreds of dollars just to buy it and get a bunch of mechs I really don't want.

Meh, unless PGI gives it an overall movement/ agility buff the Maddog isn't really anything to covet, dogs for the masses.

to the op. no. terribad idea. hell no. honestly what are you thinking? feeling good that you spent $360 to part of some "club"? im pushin $700+ on my account and i dont even think i should be part of any kinda "club".

all mechs should be available to everyone past maybe hero mechs. but no chasis should ever be locked behind a paywall.

its already bad enough that you have to spend $360 to just GET a mad dog or wait until its out for cbills.

It will probably be some time before you see it on sale for C-Bills .. so it will be exclusive for quite some time I would imagine .. just look at the long wait to get a warhawk...

I get where the OP is coming from, and disagree for many reasons, but mainly this:

I want PGI to be able to make more money from this mech - right now as incentive for people to upgrade to Masakari + Man O War, later if/when available for MC.


More money for PGI, longer MW:O is around for us to enjoy - at least that's my opinion on the matter.

Maybe timberwolf and direwolf should be renamed mad timberwolf and mad direwolf to effect more standardized and consistent naming conventions?

also the shortenings need to be correct
so we have MDD for mad dog
DWF for Dakka Wolf (or Doom wolf if you want)
So TBR? The burning rage? I mean my TBR laservomit version has a 2,8k/d after 112 matches, something is definately OP compared to ym other k/d's.

These are my high KDR mechs.





TBR is SDF. So. Damn. Fast. Considering what it carries.

I don't think TT rules take into account the effect speed and mobility have in geometric terms. TBR may be a bit overpowered in that regard. I like the IS quirk system & think it could have decent odds of balancing things out.

Clearly what I was thinking at post and what everyone got from this where two things, One person seemed to get it. My failure to explain clearly makes me seem to be an elitist I am not however that shallow. What I was trying to convey is simply this mech the maddog isn't anything special in game its actually much like a catapult but what it does have is name recognition so if it where a reward only mech perhaps those who only play for free and let others support the game would stand up and throw some cash down and support Pgi to help make a better game, clearly I shoulda said just that and not tried to sugarcoat it to avoid the flamers and trolls. In the future I will be more clear on these things. Thank you all for your thoughts on this I appreciate all comments good and bad. Enjoy the game
