Base Tech, level 1, 3025. Large Laser, 4 medium lasers, LRM5. It had 22 Single Heat Sinks. 33 Total damage on an alpha strike though it would overheat by 4 if it jumped and alphaed.
Atlas carried an AC20, LRM20, SRM6, 4 Medium Lasers (2 in the rear arc) and 20 single heat sinks. That's a 62 damage alpha with an overheat of 5 without the two rear facing lasers.
Marauder carried 2 PPC, AC5, and 2 Medium Lasers with 16 single heat sinks. That's an alpha of 35 with an overheat of 13. It only carried 11.5 tons of armor.
The Grasshopper was faster than an Atlas, could jump, and carried about half the firepower. Atlas had the advantage of 6 tons more armor as well as increased physical damage.
Marauder was 5 tons heavier than the Grasshopper, had 1.5 tons less armor, couldn't jump, and couldn't manage its heat as well. For its deficiencies it only gained 2 more points of possible damage over the Grasshopper.
Is the stock Grasshopper a king in 3049? No, it is not. It isn't a powerhouse like the Mad Cat, but not much is. In the level 1 rules for TT in 3025 though it was a decent mech. Whether it does well in MWO is up in the air until we get our hands on the mech, but our ability to upgrade it should improve its capabilities.

Why was the clan pack 40$ more expensive ?
It can't be because the mechs are "better" as everything is done to nerf them to IS levels and IS is also getting quirks

I've asked this same question before, and the Mauler lacks variants with appropriate available tech, and unlike the Enforcer the Mauler has no cannon unique loadouts to pick up the slack ... tho i would love to see the Mauler make an appearance

Loved the Enforcer since Crescent Hawk's Revenge (I always put Jason in the Enforcer, was those firepower ratings, y'know?). The Vindicator has made me dubious of low slung arm mounts, especially since the BlackJack does so much, so well.. but I'm still a medium fanboy, and the 50 tonners are generally pleasant, so Will Purchase.
Kinda "meh" about the Grasshopper. Head mounted missle slots have given us no great pleasure thusfar, in fact the only thing remotely practical about it is the arm mounts and jets... but still, 70 tons w/jump jets. Might Purchase.
Not an assault pilot, Orion underwhelmed me with arm mounted missles, otherwise rather resembles the Thunderbolt in a portly and strange sort of way... frankly looking more for the Victors being de-nerfed. But I like mechs... Might Purchase.
End result: I will drop at least $40 on this, possible $80... and I might sell off most of my Clan Mechs. (Cept my Timby's.. never getting rid of them). Although I never intedned to become staunchly loyal to one side or the other, my IS machines seem to be making me the happiest, but I digress... thanks for the new pack and the pricing Russ. Wubs You Man.
*Alex, the work is stellar, as always. Just out of curiosity, after the Vindicator's release the concept art seems to be leaning in a "curvier" direction, arm length and general build seem to echo the Vindy a touch. Deliberate? Or just embracing a alternate flavor after all this time? (Not complaining, just curious)

It must be hard to find so much to complain about...
They are giving us more mechs and they are doing it for cheaper. What is there to ***** about?

My guess is that the stock clan mechs are better equipped. MC and cbill prices of every mech reflect the upgrades that they come with, so when every mech comes with XL and DHS (and many with ES and FF) they cost more. Also because people were willing to pay for it.

To be fair a lot of people asked for it. They didn't want to buy clan mechs, but wanted to get the King Crab. PGI decided to release this new pack rather than reactivate Phoenix or Founders packs. Also the polls had been around for a while so this pack release shouldn't surprise anyone.
