I think PGI should refund the Cbills we paid for omnipods since they are not Omni anymore.

So ..PGI ... I thought that.. you know.. Clan mechs where suppose to be the best at being able to be swapped around to fit what ever tehy needed.. hence Omnipods which stopped you from needing to get several kinds of clan mechs..

So what in the good god hell is this bull crap about not letting me remove the jump jets from the Omnipods of my TimberWolf? Totally not lore friendly and totally bullshit, I want to be able to have a Torso mounted Laser on my Timber with out having a system i never freaken use and being cut down in ammo for weight where my LRMs are good for maybe two shots? wtf guys.. really?

You're just a victim of the buff nerf cycle that every online game for the best part of the last 20 years has gone through. Get over it.

In what way are they not Omni? I cant seem to find any information on Sarna saying these changes have anything to do with the Omni system. Actually Sarna even has information, that these changes fixing the Jumpjets in place are cannon,

Canon does not shoot.

And the omni-pods are still very much omni ... you can swap out weapon hardpoints willy-nilly, giving you almost endless variation and adaptability. Try doing that with any IS-'mech. The downside is you get locked equipment like engines, jumpjets, heatsinks, etc.
Fair trade. Get over it.
Timbers and foxes not having fixed JJs was an OVERSIGHT, wich was corrected.

There, from one of the more recent threads about the bug:

You can change anything with an Open Mechlab. Technically the Omnipod change-outs do not require a full Mechlab. That's why they are better than Inner Sphere standard mechs of 3050, which require a full Open Mechlab to make any change to stock configs.

So in essence PGI has given Inner Sphere an Open Mechlab and Clan Tech a Closed Mechlab. A fact which all too often is overlooked for the convenience of TT fabrications.

Now I go along with this as a balance for Clan Tech so long as all the Mechs and variants are functionally balanced, but this can't be done when fixed jump jets are added to the list of fixed equipment since only a few Clan mechs have jump-jets in their stock loadout designs and full jump-jets will consume 20-25% of the mech's payload space. It's just not balanced and this is obvious to everyone.

See, this is where so many people are completely wrong. Omni Mechs means you can change weapons willy nilly. However any eqipment is fixed (Jumpjets, structure, engine etc.). You can change the equipment on an Omni mech once. However after that change, the Omnimech is no longer Omni, but a standard Battlemech like any of the IS mechs.

Quote

Despite their benefits in flexibility and maintenance, OmniMechs have distinct limitations in regard to cost and logistics. OmniMechs are not fully modular. An OmniMech's structural components (its engine, internal structure, armor and any equipment installed on the base chassis of OmniMech) are "hard-wired" and cannot be modified outside of a total redesign of the 'Mech.[30] While customization of these components is theoretically possible in the field, it is avoided as it hard-wires all the 'Mechs components and effectively transforms the OmniMech into a standard BattleMech.

Please note that the modifications they are talking about are "Field Modifications". Once any mech is in Mechlab it's component and weapon placement can be redesigned. That's why Inner Sphere mechs can modify anything in a few seconds, something that is not possible outside of a total redesign in Mechlab. Mechlab is really part of MechWarrior rather than Battle Tech so each game changes how Mechlab works. PGI is just making a mistake with making the Jump-Jets part of the fixed Clan equipment. It serves no purpose except to cloud the real issues.

Also remember that we do not have TT Clan omni hardpoint omni-pods, we have stock mech omni-pods. Hardpoints are not Canon, not present in Battle Tech.

Anyway, unless a massive number of Quirks are piled on the Summoner, I think maybe no one will use it in a few months. And it's not that the Timber Wolf is better than it should be. The Timber Wolf is actually very balanced and very canon. I just can't imagine a MechWarrior game with no Thor. Say it isn't so.
