Thinking about it, giving the Stone Rhino Endo Steel and FF, with an XL engine would make the unit so much better... lets see what I can do with it, in Heavy Metal Pro...

Not much apperently...

Giving it all the goodies frees up 16.5 tons and only 7 crit spaces, not enough for anything...

Taking away FF, drops my tonnage down to 13 free, but 14 crits...

Seems I can add 3 more DHS, 2 cERLL, 2 cMPL, 2 AMS with 2 tons ammo, TAG, Active Probe, ECM... and that's about it.... makes the BC 3093, up from 2626 of the base unit.

The Stone Rhino is probably one of the only mechs I actually like in it's Prime version.....ofc, I would drop that stupid SPL, idk what I could do with it's weight, but meh...maybe drop out the LPL for 2 LL and use the extra tons for more armor or some extra DHS...or an extra ton or 2 for GR Ammo...

Well the cSPL weighs the same as 1 DHS.....

But the SPL actually has a use, for when something is inside the minimum range on the Gauss... as to how you let something get that close to a Stone Rhino I'd love to know...

Be an average WoT player and take it into an urban environment where a pesy light begins to pork it in the rear....It was insanely slow to move in Mektek and I cant imagine it will move muhc better in MWO.....though it does move 54, compared to the DWF's 48 or w/e....plus it has JJ...I dont usually use JJ, but if hte mech has them locked in, why not lol...

and rename the Thread: Stone Rhino, hopes, wishes and dreams.

I always found a better use for the BV... usually another Timber Wolf Alt. D, let that little bugger eat cSSRM 12 to the face, when it came up behind me.

LPLs work just fine within the minimum range of the Gauss.....the SPL really is superfluous unless you need it for infantry or something weird like that.

As for getting that close, it isn't that hard when you have mechs like the Viper (129.6kph) or Phantom (9/14, 145.8kph) running around.

We won't ever see the Stone Rhino or any Clan battlemech for a long time though, because of Clan tech being balanced around Omnimech limitations, any battlemech has a higher likelihood of being OP both with a Clan only environment and mixed environment.

I know, and it makes me sad...

As for something getting close to the Stone Rhino, where is the rest of the star?

It isn't always that simple in TT, support requires the ability to actually hit that mech, and that is if another target isn't easier to hit and whether or not that target is worth passing up better numbers on.
Unlike the Dire Wolf Prime which is an all around beast with its weapon array combined with the ability to flip arms. Makes any backstabber think twice about running up to a Dire Wolf regardless of the angle.

Oh I know, I've got a company of IS mechs, as well as a Super Nova of Clan mechs and elementals. (1 Binary of Mechs, 1 Star of Elementals)... I'm a ghost bear, got to rock the Super Nova, so my one stone rhino never moves unsupported.

Well, why cant PGI just make up some Omni pod limitations for the SR and call it good?

The Stone Rhino Prime, good place to start looks like

1E
1E
1B in each ST
1E in the head
maybe an AMS in one of the ST
Lock in the JJ and call it good.

Is it for fear of all the QQ about it not being an Omni and being locked? Cuz, really.....we get QQ no matter what, even given free stuff we QQ...so PGI shouldnt let that hold them back.

As much as I would love to see it, she would be a battle mech, since she is second line and with how this game treats battle mechs, she would be horrendously OP.

Blood Asp and Cauldron Born, these two would be excellent for my collection of Clan Mech. :)

Not really any more OP then the DW when it goes Dual Gauss Dual PPC......except the SR could do it with JJ lol.....ok, yeah, that would be OP....

Because people (including myself) don't like the mech's being locked over others, with only some accepting omni restrictions "because TT said so."

As for it being OP, doubt it since it would be forced to mount the Gauss in the side torsos (where they can explode) as well as the Standard Engine not being that much of an improvement. 2 Gauss/2 ERPPCs with no very few extra heat sinks on top of JJs would be hot as hell.

I am hoping for a Clan Wave 3 IIC pack filled with second line mechs such as:
Light: Jenner IIC
Medium: Hunchback IIC
Heavy: Orion IIC
Assault: Warhammer IIC

The second line mechs are going to be impossible to balance. They are basically IS battlemechs with Clan weapons and equipment. Due to the fact they will have to pretty much have IS levels of customization with Clan equipment that is lighter and smaller will mean they will totally obsolete any and all IS mechs the minute the come out.

No, the best best is for PGI to stick to omnis and add in the 10-15 we have missing. Then because Clans are only going to have about 1/3 the number of available mechs, they just need to add a whole slew of omnipods that add all kinds of variations to the limited mechs they do have.

Don't bother, no matter how many times you post logical reasons why something won't happen in the near term. Within a page you'll see:

"give me Bushwacker"

"give me Blood Asp"

"give me IIC mechs"

"give me Stone Rhino"

"give me MASC"

No the part that would make it OP, is that it would have the benefits of being a Battle Mech in this game, with Clan tech base that is what would make it the most OP thing in the game.

But why couldnt PGI simply stick to Clans using Omni mechs and create the 2nd line Clanners following thier own current Omnipod limitations, regardless of if the mech is Battlemech or not?

And even if it got IS levels of customization using Clan tech, it would still be limited by Hardpoints, which im sure help limit both IS and Clan.....you can have 45t left over, but if your hardpoints are used, your done lol.

How to completely break MWO.

1. Release something like the Ryoken 2 with "IS" customization levels. Hyper Assault Gauss optional.
2. ???
3. Profit.

Mini Dakkawhales or AC40 clan mechs everywhere moving as fast(er) than Mad Cats. Pls PGI no.

At least it doesn't get jj's I guess.

'Cause they have been trying to fallow the TRO's as closely as they can, adding a hard point here or there isn't really a bad thing...

I for one, would love the second line units, I like most of them more than the Omni's, but I know just how hard it would be to balance them correctly for MWO.

Shadow Cat, definitely. It'd go great with a drop deck for me, because I generally prefer mediums.

Why not? In this day and age of video games we already have some companies announcing and detailing multiple DLCs before the game itself is even released!

Even worse, some games are being announced alongside the eventual DLC. Both of those, at the same time.
