Careful, lests your opinions force your Coordinator to take his life to purge the shame this sort of thinking brings.

Are you kidding? Takashi Kurita would congratulate him on his induction into the Order of the Wakizashi before ordering him to dull his wakizashi on the pavement before committing seppeku.

Its still the people complaining about their free cake to time ratio. Jerk is a pretty low end 'insult' to the point where its just an adjective to describe behavior.

Looking gift horses in the mouth, usually makes one a jerk. Jerks are everywhere. Theyre at your job, theyre in traffic, they walk their dogs past your house, their kids spill stuff in your favorite bistro...jerks are a fundamental and integral part of life. Without them....who mans the phones at call centers?

Here...if we had no jerks...we'd have a fraction of the player base we currently have. Its just a statement of fact, not an insult directed at an individual. Even games entirely behind pay walls with no free play options, you have jerks. Without jerks, the servers of every game would be empty.

Its actually a positive counter to the OPs comment. That we should just forget the jerks entirely. Nay I say. The jerks are an important part of MWO.

i would like to see assists brought back up to 6500,
right now its all to get kill* if your not killing, your not getting payed,
kills*= Kill(4k), Damage-kill(5k), tag-kill(6k), Narc-kill(6k), Savior-kill(4.5K),
where as Assists give 3500(down from 6500),

all that said does Math make me a Jerk?
if i apologize for being a Jerk, does that make me an Apologetic Jerk?
does being truth full and speaking your mind, make you a Jerk?

!?!Can we define Jerk?!?
(flails wildly like a crazy man, waits for Slap)

@Major: I see you have not picked a faction yet. When will you become fully engaged?

Awful bold of you to be inquiring about his personal life like that. Don't you think he hears enough of that from his mother? (Seriously, though, Major, that poor woman wants grandkids before she's too old to spoil them.)

Granted, I have ZERO sympathy for people that think a game takes to long to finish. But, this game doesn't turn out new content often enough for a Hardcore gamer. However, things from lore (Lose of destroyed Mech/Equipment, Labor cost, Time cost, Repair and Rearm cost) can slow a Hardcore player down enough to give the Devs a chance to keep up. MechWarriors of lore rarely own more then one Mech for a reason.

I use to be a Hardcore gamer and I am still one at heart.

At a pace of 8 hours a day. I want to be still playing the game next year. Korean MMORPGs are good at that.

A very casual friendly game isn't going to last long without a high player turnover rate. I don't see this IP having a high player turnover rate, no matter what they do. Without basterdizing it like MechAssault. Slow paced combat in real time just doesn't work for a lot of people.

It's pretty simple logic, a company screws itself when it's business model is set up to exclude people. That would be like Pizza Hut saying " We are only going to sell pizza to hardcore pizza fans, you now have to order pies at once if your going to order from us."
How many people would still get pizza from them ? How would they make money ?

Besides its a game not a members only club anyone that wants to play should feel welcome to come play. More players is almost always a good thing.

All these C-bill posts are making me sick. I don't know what is causing all this sympathy for non-hardcores but I don't want them in the game unless they too will become hardcore in the end.

This game should be about CW and dedicated faction hatred and the roleplaying associated with that.

By letting casuals increase in number I am less likely to see faction appropriate livery and trash talk. That lessens my enjoyment quite a bit.

People who are worried about PGI's bottom line are not correct. You give them money and they don't hire more map guys, they redirect it to failed MechWarrior Tactics or Transverse.

People can speculate all they want about player numbers and how that affects matchmaker but without real data it is pointless and anecdotal.

Noobs/Casuals don't need advocates. They can speak for themselves. This is not a joke thread.

Please do the world a favor. Have a vasectomy. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. So will I.

Cbills snd hardcoreness are unrelated. Im poor cbill wise but i could fill every tech readout up to 3058 from memory and run tabletop without ref sheet but i dont think it should take 88hrs grind to kit a 100tonner

I grew up on Battletech novels and loved the old Mechwarrior games. I am *mostly* here for the role playing, inter faction trash talk and awesome fluff. I am steeped in the lore and I am mostly excited about this game in anticipation of community warfare.

But I also have too many commitments to be 'hardcore'. My life does not revolve around computer games and giant robots. I wish it did! I can not really afford to throw money at the game (much as I would like to) and I do not have the time to be anything other than a casual. Give me a break, OP. Not everyone who is invested in the game is able to engage with it as anything other than a hated casual.

The appeal of any 'MMO' is to have as many people playing as possible, Any player should be able to play as much of a game as they want without having to pay a single cent. Non-cosmetic content should never be locked behind a paywall and paying for a game should be made easy because once a person has made a single small purchase they are much more likely to make a second purchase.

You should be concerned about 'casual' players being screwed over in C-Bill earnings because they are much less likely to come back if it takes them a month to get a single mech. Popularity and ease of access are major draws to a game, Mechwarrior online has been making some of the bad mistakes about MMO's and F2P games and it really shows with some of the incredibly bitter posts from people who've fed 500-1000$ to the PIG.

I don't know why people keep trashing the OP. Taking the 'base' out of 'playerbase' is clearly the best thing to do for MW:O, or any game really.

Wait, so you want to spend more time playing this game than most people work in a week?

Fine, you can, but most people have a fraction of that time, and those are also the folks who, if you can keep, are likely to pay.

After reading the OP's post I just could not put my reply into words and have a video of what he must be like playing MWO as a hardcore player.

Casual? As in players who dont eat, sleep, drink, study like a term college exam, live, die for, pray to, worship, meta play, and go all MLG pro on the game? Cuz really.......when I hear "competitive" or "non casual" thats the first thing comes to my mind...

And really.....this game's MLG or competitive non casual player just takes a Dire Whale with PPC/GR and goes......LMB Profit...wait 5s, LMB, Profit.....

A Chipmunk could be MLG pro, just gotta teach em how to LMB profit.....

Its the Scrub players you should fear, casuals, or some, atleast play the game and get decent at it.....

Pro players in games are overly dedicated, no lifers who just practically spend their entire time on it.....or atleast thats how I imagine it, cuz the really good players look down on you like they are Pharaoh of Egypt and your just a lowly slave...then htey come and make these threads as if the game should belong to just that type of person.....meh.....
