The graphic, which says "click for details," does not link to anything.

The good: Announcing it ahead of time!
The bad: Lack of detail in the announcement :(

OK, I had a terrible-terrible thought last night, but I really-really hope, I am wrong... So, it could be, that they meant this:

We play a match ---> We become some "treat" for it.. ---> We come out here, with our earned "treat"s, ---> and we click the "Don't working button" ---> We become some RANDOM GENERATED Prizes...

As I said, I really hope, that I am wrong, because, it is the worst thing ever, if you are forced to use "Computer Luck", in a skill-based game.. Because, in that case.. alone the game-server decides, from your prize.. no matter how good or bad you in-game played..

(Mostly, because this computer-luck-thing voted I, again the "Game Voting System" - No matter how bad-skilled I am.. I don't want, that just a computer alone decides my destiny).

Give me a free TDK, and I'll giggle for 5 seconds.

Why would you giggle, the TDK is amazing.... 171kph! I usually pull 500ish DMG in one. Can't count the number of times I have been the last alive in my TDK (I play super aggressive in it) and made the enemy work for that final kill (by running around in their murderball).

Well, I read the little information we had in this way:

"Each match is a chance to earn a treat! Every treat is a chance to win a prize, and the prizes are awesome!
Prizes include: MechBays, Premium Time*, MC, MC Consumables, C-bills, GXP, Cockpit items, and more!"

So each and every match, regardless of how you score (perhaps with win condition) will give you a raffle ticket. Raffle tickets can then be claimed for prizes, which would be generated at random. I assume these prizes will have some form of rarity and rate of appearing. I'm also guessing this will involve lots of low tier prizes, like a small amount of Cbills or GXP.

"We even have a few extra tricks up our sleeves. Players who achieve a qualifying score can reach their hand into the treat bag** and receive a prize!

To me this sounds like on top of the prizes explained above, there will be "premium" raffle tickets which either give you a better pool of prizes or only the rare prizes as reward options for the random draw.

But that's just my opinion on it.

Probably intentional. Not only does it grab attention, but folks won't assume it starts today. Remember, they announced the Zombie Mech sale a day early, and got flooded with complaints about folks who paid full price on accident.

TL;DR happens far too often, even on simple images that have all the details.

Think of it this way. You're earning raffle tickets, and every ticket is a winner, but some may be something small, while some may be something huge. Given small here may be 500,000 cbills, or a mech bay, or 300 mc (all guesses other than the mechbay), it still should be very worthwhile. Or they could go really amusing and throw in random gear (Sweet! I just won an Clan Ultra-AC20 and a Small Laser Cooldown module!)

It's a contest aimed at being fun, not skill based grindy (hopefully). Nothing wrong with that.

this contest definitely sounds like a grinning, tongue in cheek, funfest! I personally hope we get extra bonus points for sneaking up on people with our mechs and giving them a BOO! Alpha strike to the back. ;-)

I think it would be fun if they went with who had most success with Zombie mechs this weekend (success being a term defined by them). Or destroyed a certain amount of components for a prize (like a zombie eating parts). Or "you survived with one leg gone" or "one arm lost". Or something extremely crazy like, matches that each mech only is allowed one small pulse laser and team with most damage no kills wins (dunno how that fits into motif.)
I need coffee... and c-bills....
