None of this is remotely on-topic so I'll attempt to re-phrase my original post:

How would you feel about about brand-new non-canon mechs being introduced to the game, not just variants but entire chassis? What about weapon systems and supplementary equipment?

Personally, it'd make me vomit.

That being said, however, I'm not sure they CAN do that as long as they have "A BattleTech Game" as part of their logo. Get rid of the words and........I dunno?

I don't think it really should be an issue, however, until they run out of already published mechs that people are crying for. These are the paying customers....we'll release X number of unseen mechs for Y dollars. Makes more sense, businesswise, than "we'll make new mechs just for the heck of it."

Oh boy'ere we go again... another... Boo hoo IS mechs are OP, Clans are weak.

You can't even drive a Ryoken properly, spelling a word "canon" is beyond your capabilities :P

Wha? There was no Boo Hoo-ing. Compared to every other incarnation of Battletech, the clans have never been it so hard with the nerf bat. I never said it was a bad thing, or that IS mechs are 'OP'. Personally, I still think Clan mechs are generally better then I.S. mechs, but whatever..

I can't pilot a Stormcrow? How do you figure? Did you drop with me a couple times when I was drunk? I present to you, a screenshot:

This wasn't even an very good match; pretty mediocre, I only took the screenshot because there were no heavy mechs

Battletech canon is complicated - every game and book is canon, but it's not necessarily true or accurate. Several of the newer sourcebooks contain explicit warnings to that effect, and even the tech readouts are considered inaccurate in universe (comstar fudges them to hide their advantage pre tukayyid, and post tukayyid they have other agencies actively working against them and feeding false information). All of the Field Manuals and House Books are explicitly biased or outright propaganda, hence why they often contradict one another. Regular military or more famous mercs have been given credit for work smaller merc units or spec ops groups have done.

As long as it's not Flamer bad, or Jesus Box good, maybe.

God help us when they release a jesus-box flamer.... ....both good and bad, it would bring unity to the universe.

I wish they would take more liberty in creating their own variants/story/mechs and just use canon as inspiration. I really like what they are trying to do with making the IS and Clans balanced. It's definitely not there yet, but this is the closest that any MW game has ever gotten to it.

For example, there are quite a few mechs that are just terrible because of hardpoints/layout but it's because they're following canon on them. Balance trumps lore every time in my book. Vindicator could fill the niche roll of 45t SRM brawler? Give it more missile hardpoints! K2 could be more balanced with JJs? Give it JJs!

Now they are introducing a quirk system to make up for these drawbacks that mechs inherently have. I think just taking some creative liberty would make it way easier for them to balance this game.

Then again there IS NO canon for MWO.

If PGI makes a custom HAMIB, I will spend money on it.
