I also do not play a lot of FPS's.
A PVE game could be put together with 5 missions per mech role so as to introduce the player to the world and the different roles, as well as how to pilot the mech. There would not even need to be different maps. They could just reuse the existing maps, mostly the smaller maps. They only really need one voice actor who would be your commander, and then AI for the limited amount of lance mates and bad guys.
It would be great if they could have a story line for each house and the mercs just to get into the world more, so that would be one voice actor for each commanding officer/supervisor dude(ette), and some cut scenes.
I really enjoy PVE and I know I will get eaten up in PVP, but I am looking forward to the challenge. I would really like to be immersed in the story and world too. I do understand that the focus of this game is PVP, and I have no problem with that, but PVE needs to be done at some point for those of us who like story, etc...

it might also be a really good way to introduce clan tech before clans become available, when the clans invade have some PVE co-op battles vs the clan invaders (and get salvage!) would certainly help level the field when PC's get to start as clan. Omni mech's are fine but the real threat is the more advanced weaponry... which fits on IS mech's just fine

Some people don't find PvE challenging or engaging enough, others like it as a break or alternative. Enjoying the social group play dynamics very much without worrying about pvp. Then there's people like me that enjoy both.

So my Short Answer is.... Yes to PvE, co-op PvE, PvP, co-op PvP... PvP/PvE... think that covers it lol

that's true, however I've never understood why people advocate so strongly against doing something that would not significantly impact their own preference, the game is focused for PvP, adding a PvE element would hardly change that, unlike the reverse typically does, about the only thing that might change is the opportunity for C-bills, experience or salvage and that is entirely up to the devs whether they will give rewards universally or seperately. I would love to have a PvE part of this game just for the story content, I'd happily pay money for it, and I wouldn't complain if the PvE elements were entirely exclusive and not interchangeable with the PvP elements (it would then become a great way to try out different mech builds against 'safe' adversaries without influencing your standings, or having to wait for skirmishes)

IS (player base) Vs Clans (NPCs similar to Eve Incursions)
Suddenly, all the different factions working together O.O Kinda want!
I like this idea. Implement some kind of salvage/loot model as well, then players will gain access to Clan tech by earning it, instead of simply buying it "off the shelf".

yeah I think that's the way it should be done, at least initially, have the invasion be us (the players) against them (NPC's or dev/recruit controlled PC's) for salvage and whatnot, earn your clan tech through battle before you're allowed to choose to be clan.
ps. maybe even make so those who distinguish themselves in battle during the invasion might get officially recruited by the clans, recognizing great warriors regardless of birth (of course, the player could still turn them down XD)

Most of the reason behind people not wanting change has to fall under the category of "Me" and "My Needs". They would prefer for the devs to tend to their will because they think they are speaking for the majority of "fan base" if you will. Now forgive me if I sound a bit one sided (which I do not argue if you think so) but I think you see my point. All I want is for there to be a simple PvE aspect, looting would be nice but I think it would be rather odd.

I Completely Agree, and as I said earlier, to save more room and to make things a hell of a lot easier, they should release PvE after the initial PvP launch that we have all been anxiously been waiting for. Blizzard promised PvP in Diablo 3 but it wasn't released with the game but will later be released to save room and to not put as much stress on the servers like they have already. Again, I think they should do the same thing here to please all the masses. Maybe an actual campaign with a real challenge to test the players. Oh and if I may, I would like to change "stress and angst every now and again" to "constant anger and war within the forums". Or should the campaign be easy and fun, and to have some way to relax from the consistent spamming we all love so much?

A good friend of mine who is a coder says that it is very easy to do things like this with today's programs and technology.
I'm all for TVE. Running Ops in SWTOR is a blast. They could assemble missions in much the same way Bioware assembles Ops. Would be pretty awesome. You come together, defeat some big bad, and earn some wicked loot. A recipe for success, I say.
