LRMs are not killing anything right now unless you are an LRM60 or something. They are just to wear stuff down in MWO so dropping the damage by 10% will do squat. 90% of players just bring them as back-up and they will always do that.
Here is the fix for LRM spam though. Restore the Gauss Rifle to normal functioning when just one is mounted, meaning, no de-sync. Speed PPCs back up to 1300-1500 mps. With this done players have two things. Weapons to counter LRM boats and weapons that take the place of LRMs in the load-out. Result: LRMs all but disappear because they are junk. Till then, get used to LRMs, nerfing them won't make any difference, they are the only long range weapon in MWO.
Well, shouldnt be an either/or option
LRMs should be viable...as a backup weapon for most mechs, Boating on a select few.
Comp play, as far as ive seen, is too fast paced for LRM
How to 'discourage' it in Puglandia???
The ECM/LRM synergy has to be dealt with. We will see what the incoming Active Probe Buff does.
Damage could be randomized similar to BT: LRM does between 5-20 damage with the median(or mean i forgets) being the most common damage.
^Above could also be done with how other weapons have a damage drop-off over distance...discourage those lazy unwashed slobs from camping in the back of the map reading Harry Potter tapping the fire button with their unclipped big toe while drinking their margaritas listening to Jimmy Buffet.
Force them to keep up with the group-less launcher and ammo for MORE engine...a nerf that helps the team?
Drop ammo counts...LuRMers gonna have to make those shots count (this MAY be the easiest to implement)
10 second cooldown for all LRM launchers and a damage buff to compensate DPS
Penalties for indirect fire: more spread, diluted damage/ Buff for direct LOS fire (i hate LOCK beggers, lazy ham-n-eggers)
Drop the flanking bonus for a LRM hit, should be easy.
Dont get me wrong, i dont mind LRM. I digest dairy well so i can tolerate a bit of cheese...
But i really, eh, dislike, these lazy-back of the map- beyond effective LRM range campers who beg for locks like panhandlers at a campus bus stop only to cry about how bad the team sucked when they get killed late match.
I hope these Scro's die in a cockpit fire caused by a Locust.
