Decided to play my new "POS", Ice Ferret - more as a joke than anything else.

Hmmm....

I actually like it. I actually did pretty well with it. They say there is someone out there for everyone. Maybe the same is true of mechs? I dunno. It just has the right mix of speed, armor and weapons to make me smile. I'm never going to swing matches with it, but I sure can scout, pop UAV's, get into and out of trouble at will, and dash in just in time to save a team mate or finish off a wounded enemy. Fun.

I'm pretty sure you just contradicted yourself. =]

Even before adding skills the acceleration and deceleration is very nice. The speed is decent, helps if you want to chase away or hunt some lights. And heat management is not a problem, not a single shutdown.

Replaced the small laser and a half ton of ammo on my C and had a 102 pt match first match. Not bad at all. The Prime is good at close support or hunter/killer on lights. The A is a mystery to me though, need to toy around with that.

yeah people say that about the Vindicator, too. I got a half dozen 6 kill matches that say otherwise.

I ran my prime with CERL + CERM and an LRM 5 with CAP. Nice. Found a new way to use LRMs. I keep running around the enemy flanks and shelling them. Pure harassment fun. The ERL is nice when the push comes.

I've just switched to a CLP and LRM 5. Looking forward to trying that out.

I also remember a post about true light hunter teams consisting of a light and a fast medium. I was running with a friend in his brand new Locust and we were doing just that. Again. Fun.

Absolutely crazy fun mech. Play conquest if you want to swing some matches.

I saw an Ice Ferret.
I hit it with 2x UAC5 + UAC2 + 4 ML.

It ran away.

I've known the Fenris would be a potent Clan mech from the time I first predicted it'd be part of the 2nd Wave Clan Pack.

I just wish they'd included the D, or at least a D arm omnipod to let people run the D configuration if they wanted.

you can run a Ghetto D, but I would prefer the arms to be synced. Though If I could slap D arms onto an A, I would probably run 4 ER Smalls and 1 LPL in the torso

Yeah, from what I can tell the cLPL went from decent to sexy in this patch, and cERSLs are finally viable again too.

We wont know how good it is until someone that can pilot masters it. I can say so far my Commando seems outgunned. :(

I'm getting 6-900 damage rounds with 2xERLL builds, even without basic skills. People underestimate this mech.

Imagine what this thing can do with master skills and a little experience. Clam weapons + speed = fun.

If you ask me, it's way more fun to play makes that aren't as popular. If you do really well, it really shows your mastery at the chassis and game. Looking forward to playing the Ice Ferret and the Mist Lynx once I make my own purchase in December. Ice Ferret seems like it'll make a good skirmisher; pretty fast and it can carrier twin cERLL. Mist Lynx has some potential for a LRM support, not something I see a whole lot in light 'mechs, other than the Kit Fox and the Adder. Good size + hitboxes and it can be a fast, ECM packing harasser.

I can't help but love underdog mechs.

It's definitely an underdog... The only thing that seems to do well is a long range build.

I have a pair of Vindicators in my bays. I'm a little surprised how much I can fit onto them. I'm interested in seeing what all I can do with the Ice Ferret.

It has VERY unique capabilities being the fastest clan mech. It can still deal lots of damage with one torso, and from far away. I've decided a conquest match tonight with it's speed. It's underrated as of now... we'll see in a few days how the community views it.
