I am guilty of some ill mannered comments, though many times they are warranted. Sometimes not, and I am having that kind of day( I sometimes go online to forget about a taxing day at work for instance, so my mood is already poor.)
I don't usually berate a particular team mate, or make horribly useless "team suxx" comments. But, I will point out tactical flaws, tell the team where the enemy team is and why they are about to get stomped by them, that type of thing. Occasionally, the enemy team turns out to be 1 vet, 2-3 decent players and a fistful of total derps, and the horse-blinders team mates on my side miraculously focus down the one vet on the enemy team and some how haphazardly laser spray the rest of team derp for a victory.
Most of the time I keep my tactical explainations good natured. MANY times I spectate, I praise people doing good things, be it piloting or tactically, make suggestions and tell them why(because dead guy has time to actually do that) and that sort of thing. Sometimes spectate mode is the only way you can make comments to try help out "n00bs". People complain about dead players telling team mates stuff in chat, but boo on that, in a game with no VOIP, the best commander is the one that can cycle through his teams cockpits and relay tactical info and make suggestions, because dead guy doesnt have to try to pilot at the same time. Long story short, MOST of what I tell my teams after i get KO'd is positive, or at least informative.
That said, i am sure there are more times then I would care to admit where some derpwad contests the plainly obvious and I get a little salty. Last night on HPG, in my Atlas, my lance was another atlas, a hero battlemaster, and i think a TBR, but might have been a DWF even, I dont recall exactly, doesnt matter. We spawn on the "little" side(only 4 of us). So we rush in(I am in front, the rest of lance was a little slow to follow up). I turn to left to see if I spot enemy...oh yeah, in fact I spot at least a half dozen triangles, and I saw two of them moving in from the right, so it all honesty it was at least 3/4 the enemy team. "F that noise" I think, pull right at full throttle. I look at radar....
Yup, Atlas lancemate and one other greenish triangle have pointed left towards enemy, moved up a litt.e Hero battlemaster is at my back. I lance chat "Do not try to fight 10 enemy mechs, keep moving to our team" because I was safe at full throttle moving behind the big wall. NOPE, they engage. One light from our team had raced towards us. STUPIDLY, i turn around, to try to make something of the situation. I managed 2 kills and blew armor off some other stuff, ended with almost 400 dmg, but it was 9 vs 4(was 5 but Atlas' pal ate it in the face almost immediatly) And lancemate Atlas lost half his mech just before he hid behind mine. roughly 30 seconds after I get cored, the hero battlemaster is down, and the light races off, now our assault lance is dead, we got 2 of them(one was a wolverine so yay) and hurt them, but we were now out gunned so bad it was crazy.
I type in team chat "THAT is why I did not want to fight there, we were badly outnumbered and got rolled!" Atlas lancmate says, and I **** you not "we died because the team didn't support us". LOLWUT?
Me: " No, we died because you pulled up and stopped to face 10 enemy mechs, our team didnt come racing over to us becasue they were already engaged. I was actually headed to them when you decided to stop and fight the whole enemy team yourself."
Me: "Stupidly, I turned around to help you. I should have left you die in YOLO fashion as you were and tried to salvage the rest of the match."
os I got a little salty there, but the guy earned it with a comment like that. When a team mate points out the near entirety of the enemy team, and you know there is only one lance of you, and our support is across the map- really, you really decide to take on the whole enemy team? Don't blame your team mates that were fighting across the map for not beelining to save your YOLO assault suicide run. So yeah, in instances like that I am less constructive, but even so, I STILL dont just make a comment like "NO U, U SUXX" because that really is just pissing in the wind.
