Simple question

Should the TW be classed as an Assault Mech?

Kind of thinking about my poor Jager at only 65 tons
What I would give for more tonnage on the Jager

The TW at 75 tons wow! Ten tons more capacity no wonder people cry about it all the time

Your thoughts

No, because there is a version of the mad cat that is an assault. Just imagine a Twolf with 90 tons, instead of 75.

With jump jets.

There's also a Light and Medium version, along with another Heavy version but those don't come along until the Dark Ages timeline.

No. It is not heavy enough. The Jager is an entire ten tons lighter- I don't get the OP's point?

My first thought is that you shouldn't drink before you post.

Actually, that's my second thought as well.

I don't really have it within me to bother coming up with a third thought for this thread.

Does the IS not have any 75 ton heavies?

What's that? The Orion is 75 tons?

Oh, well I guess you could pilot that instead.

So much angst over the Timber Wolf. Just wait till the Shadow Cat comes out.

Timber Wolf is a heavy mech, get used to it. Otherwise, are we going to classify the Cicada as a light mech? A Dragons as a medium? What?

No sense, the suggestion makes.

I think my next Mech will be an Orion or a Cat not sure which
The Orion looks cool so it might win out

The TW is so over powered it needs to be an Assault

Maybe if you whine enough...they will classify it as an assault, like when the peeps whined about LRMs.

No. It's a "weight class" not a mission statement.

Both sides have plenty of 70 and 75 ton mechs. It's just that most of the IS ones, the canonical ones that make up the backbone of the IS mechs are CONSPICUOUSLY ABSENT from MWO for reasons nobody at PGI cares to give a reasonable explanation for. *coughmarauderwarhammerlongbowarchercough* Which is why we end up with terrible snowflake mechs like the Orion and the Grasshopper.

I mean, imagine if we had a Mechwarrior 3058 game where we left out all the 3050 clan mechs because we're too lazy to draw new ones. You'd find the 3058 mechs don't make for a balanced stable.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Mad_Cat

Is it me or does the Mad Cat not have jump jets?

Speed 86.4 km/h

Usually it says something about jump distance

Why do all of ours have jump jets when in TT the Pryde seems to be the only one that does?

The Timber Wolf is 75 tons, so it's a Heavy. 80-100 tons is Assault class.

Whether or not it's overpowered is irrelevant. The Firestarter has more hardpoints than some Mediums, are we going to classify it as a Medium? If we're classifying 75 tons as Assault class the Orion would be Assault, too.
