I have seen some mechs do some crazy stuff..... For all those newbies that bought a mech that people say are awefull, which one has done the 180? For me, the cicada 3C... and is now the HBK 4SP a srm king?

one of the craziest, was a Thunderbolt with nothing but pulse... doing 1200 in a match... (personally, i would run 5 pulse, and 2 ERLL's.........

Damn you!!!! making me buy more mechs.... I was happy with my 3... but now... i need at least 1 more of 3 different mechs... the 5SS, the cent AL, and the HBK 4J.. all look very appealing.. Even the trebs are tempting me yet again... Who needs a griffin!

#edit... yet i put this in the newbie form for the main reason that new players often buy mechs, they think will rock, but dont work that great. No i am wondering if some of the so called worst mechs, are close to some of the best!

I was interested in seeing the difference with the Huginn and Pretty Baby. The damage output for the Huginn with SRM 4s is insane now. And the boost to Large Lasers on the Pretty Baby certainly helped it out too.

But I certainly need to drop in more of my mechs to see how they feel over time as more players get used to countering them.

And I'm very tempted to just go ahead and get all the Commandos back, I had sold some in the past for Mechbays to grind other mechs, but now I have open bays waiting for me to grind more C-Bills to get them back!

I still have the Death's Knell, the 2D and 1D, so it'll be the 1B and 3A I'll be adding back in the future.

Definitely the Vindicator-A.

With the Quirks now, it's an Energy weapon beast.

Also, with Community Warfare coming soon, the tonnage limit in drops will be great for me since the Vindicator is only 45 tons.

The BJ-3 is a pretty nice PPC sniper now. Yeah, you do have to jumpsnipe a bit to do well, but it's a 45 tonner after all.

My HBK-4H is devastating now with the AC10 quirks, especially after I picked up Cooldown 5. I want to grab the G to see how the AC20 quirks are.

I need to see how the SRM6 quirks work on the COM-3A. The problem is that I don't have an engine to work with the loadout I have in mind.

I feel like it gained not that much, but to each their own. I'm a huge fan of the Locust 3M instead. Wub-wub-small pulse minigun.

I haven't had a ton of time to play since quirks were implemented but my rounds in the tdk have been substantially better than prequirks and it only got some generic 10% energy bonuses. I am very anxious to buy the locust 3m and boat spl's on it :)

Boars head for me. Even if people say the DDC is better I love having 6 medium pulses and an AC10 on it.

Cicada B, Wubcada. Very nice.

All the Locust variants are now fun.

Banshee M and E...

Dont have a Quirkening heavy yet but the Thunderwub looks good.

Wubverine is also in the future...troll that Wub!

Without a doubt my Dragon 1N, yeah it doesn't *quite* match my Dakka Timber Wolf, but the Timber Wolf is 15 tons heavier with more hardpoints.

Lets face it, it was pretty bad pre-quirk, but post quirk it became a squishy but powerful fire support 'mech, kind of like the classic Rifleman and Jagermech.

My Sparky - already good - is now a /brute/. With the ML weapon modules, you can actually jumpsnipe MLs on top of all of the other improvements.

The WubJack.

Great high mounted arms, and heat-neutral double large pulse? Yes please.

I still have to build one of those.

Mostly I've been enjoying weapon type bonuses no mech builds I already had, and very few of the weapon-specific quirks.

Huginn is just insane right now. Now, i don't even wait till a body part is missing armor, just wait for it to turn red, run in and evicerate jump jet u turn and burn on out. Blackjack 1-dc with the ac/5's is pretty fun. The Jaeger is a bit underwhelming in my opinion, though for tripple uac/5's I prefer the S varient because 2 more med lasers. The stalker with the LRM-10 perk allowed me to swap in a STD 305 with 3x lrm 10's +art of miss, run max heatsinks, and 6 med lasers. Victor is now playable again albeit abit underwhelming. The perks on the DDC don't really fit my multi range engagement, 2x uac/5's 2 ML 3x srm6's but, that's my problem :P Might drop the uac's and try a larger STD engine with the ac/20 buff. The anasasi with 2ml 2 mguns and the srm6 feels about "right" after the modest buffs. The raven got some insane buffs on the 2x? the non jump jet one. thing has 20% range increase for energy weapons which.. is hilarious. My 3L pretty much is the same as it's set up for skirmishing and the energy buff isn't really noticable with strike/hide but, looks like it'll be a good light hunter again. Even then with Huginns buffs I prefer it over the 3L for backbiting. Hmm.. Haven't used too many mediums as the ques have been insane. The AWS-8Q can actually use ppc's again. Saw a guy doing 1k dmg consistantly with 3ppc a LL 2 or 3 ML and never saw him overheat but, the pilot was really good as well.

it does not match the Timby by armor or by survival rate, but if you catch a slow moving enemy in the open without proper backup, that enemy is DEAD,very DEAD
In my experience 2 AC5 2 SRM4 2 ML 1N can outgun ANY is mech from a distance, and only metawhales and 4 uac10 whales or warhawk lrm-boats are a problem at long range.
From SRM-range only thing you need to worry is SRM-boating stormcrows/timbys and IS brawler assaults.
Just dont flinch, pour everything you have at them.SRM:s at chainfire and AC:s on group.

I prefere the Wubverine with 3LP, its a funny Mech now.

But not to forgett, its also a verry high Risk Build. One good Alpha and my Weapon-Arm is gone and so my Mech.

It was Crap before the Quirks, now its an intresting Mech.
