On reddit there is a post about the upcoming Hero mechs for the Locust and Shadow Hawk (lore = the Grey Death Legion mercenary unit husband and wife leaders).

Hero Locust and Hero Shadow Hawk on Reddit

The Locust gets ECM, 2 energy in each side torso, and 2 ballistics in the CT.

The Shadow Hawk gets 2 energy in each arm, 1 missile in the head, 1 missile in the RT, and 1 ballistic in the LT.

It would be the first hero mech with ECM, but at the same time it is just a Locust so don't be expecting it to suddenly rip everyone to shreds.

The Shadow Hawk hero sounds good. I honestly cannot think of a better hardpoint setup for the Shadow Hawk that it already doesn't have than this.

Thanks! I'm tempted to get both, but neither really suit my playstyle... I kind of wish the Shadowhawk was a little more like a 2K or 2H, with lots of firepower in the shoulder. 1 ballistic point should make for a good gauss sniper or AC20 knockout punch. I could also see susing a UAC5 or AC5 for shake.

The Locust sounds very cool, and should become one of the most annoying mechs in the game. 170kph (probably) ECM, plus small pulse spam? Sounds scary.

I'm excited to see what kinda quirks they will get. :)

I am guessing the Hero Shawk is the first mech in MWO to have a canon unit insignia on it?

Maybe the Lolcust might be more useful with this new hero...

As for the Shad, it looks decent enough but I'd personally prefer more torso-mounted weapons (because they can't get shot off, at least not without killing you...).

Then again, I'm probably just biased because of the Shad 2K. My little wet dream of 3 energy in the left torso and 3 ballistics in the right torso won't come true, but at least the hero doesn't appear to be a flopper.

How exactly is the ECM locust supposed to mount 4 Energy 2 ballistics and ECM? Also how do you know it is an ECM variant?

The ballistics will be 1.5 tons (2 MGs + 0.5 tons of ammo). The ECM is 1.5 tons. For energy, most will probably just use 4 MLas, so another 4 tons. This brings us up to 7 tons, which is able to fit fitted in reasonably enough. Some people might just skip using the MGs entirely because only 2 of them is kind of pointless.

I'd be super tempted... if they weren't traitorous Gray Death Legion scum.

I figure the Locust is pretty obvious on how to build it, but the Shawk will make an excellent AC20 carrier. Put 4 MLs on the arms and you've got a right beastly mech.

Probably XL190+4xDHS, 4xSPL plus the ECM. I'd skip the MGs. It likely has a slower engine by stock to accommodate the MGs.

The locust is still a locust, but that sounds like a very nice shawk. It follows the theme of the chassis while also bringing something new to the table. That's how heroes should be designed.

Because leaks.

You can fit a 190 XL, 4 med lasers, and ECM just fine. If you run a 170 XL with no FF armor, you can fit twin machineguns and half a ton of bullets, too.

Note that this was a leak by someone with access to the test client. So anything is (even if unlikely) subject to change.

Locust hero "Pirates Bane" the same locust acceleration/deceleration, and it also gets 50% free arm armor, small laser range of 30%, small laser rate of fire 30%, and AC-2 range 20%.

Clearly you can either boat energy weapons, or you can run around with an AC-2 sniper/plinker.

Personally, I am thinking of 2 Small Lasers over 2 Medium Lasers, and 2 MG's, no arm armor, with ECM.

Shadow Hawk "The Gray Death" doesn't get any quirks...well, it gets the boring torso twist speed 25%, but that is just generic Shadow Hawk stuff. Shadow Hawks don't need quirks so far.

Man i hated my locust but the hero might redeem them for me. The SHD looks pretty darn nice too.

You probably shouldn't post that.

Go find the guy who leaked it then. I'm just reposting stuff I found on Reddit.

That's the Hero Locust?

Locust doesn't need any ****** ECM. Locust doesn't need weapons gimped by placement in side torsos. Locust needs more SPEED. Locust needs more MACHINE GUNS.

I really hope the Shadowhawk isn't just boating lasers... the ballistic/laser combo with its high mounted guns is what made it so good. Cause the shadowhawk heroe sure won't get any quirks to make boating lasers manageable.

Although it does have a nice paint job at least.

I like that Locust. It's nice looking, and the ECM is nice.

I'm pretty much guaranteed to pick that one up, because I've been having a lot of fun derping around in the 1 Locust I've picked up so far. Sneaking around the edges of the furball PUG zapping with a fast firing large laser is good times.

Actually, I can fit all of that with an 190XL. Just don't use any arm armor, and drop 2 points from the head. The lasers are in the torso of this one.

LCT-3M stand in for Hero Locust

Just used Beagle instead of ECM, and used ammo for MG's in the CT. I could even get 2 of the lasers to be Medium lasers instead of smalls.

This isn't data mined stuff. Those look like pictures the devs had to have taken. Besides, No one likes a tattletale.
