Until they release a General Lee skin with a warhorn that plays "Dixie" every time I take a sweet jump, I think they take away from the simmyness of the game. Once they do that, however, all bets are off!!!

wahts the big deal, they only can go off 12 times during a drop. unless the devs would add a button so we could blast them anytime we want :o

I guess most players don't enjoy being forced to listening to bad dubstep effects.

I bet the pilot slides across the torso before shimmying through an open window in the cockpit glass.

23 times. Thankfully I don't have to listen to it anymore.

Warhorns should be very loud to anyone nearby, and still audible to those who are pretty far away. It'd be best if PGI actually took the time to apply something akin to real-world sonic physics to warhorn behavior, perhaps modified on a per-map basis (they should behave very differently on HPG, for instance). The person using a warhorn should be able to hear it as if it were coming from outside their mech and pointing away from them.

In addition, there should be a toggle in the options for hearing warhorns. It should have three settings: full, self-only, and none.

And we need a warhorn that sounds like this:

Title says it all. The warhorn was nerfed into oblivion. Only mechs within 35 meters are affected by it.

With "affected" you mean that players are not able to annoy others with social items?

Still voting and waiting for an option to disable these childish sound effects...

Did they nerfed the warhorn radius? I don't remember reading change about it... while initially I wasn't really attracted to those, I finally have one I'd like to get, I'm just waiting for a sale on warhorns. :P

I don't find them annoying on the battlefield... I like to hear our team killed one without having to look at the score at the top of the screen.

Also, there are warhorns but there should add horns too! :D

Eh. The Warhorn is just something fun. I don't need everyone on the map to hear it. It is enough that I hear it. Especial when/if they get Warhorns that sound like animal roars and such.

I don't think the war horns are childish at all. In the Warhammer 40k universe, the Titans (which are giants 'mechs) have warhorns they blare every time they're in the battlefield. It's almost like the 'mechs "voice" if you will.

Keep them in. They're an aesthetic of the game I greatly enjoy. In fact, add more 'mechs like the Heavy Metal. I love piloting that thing just so I CAN hear it's rock when I get a kill.

I think if they increased the radius of the warhorn, there should be a sound option to turn it off completely. I don't really care to hear the things. In my opinion, the only people that should hear the horns are the owners, maybe the player they destroyed but that's it. I think my major issue with them is that they ruin the feel of the game, as do a lot of the loud camouflage patterns. It takes away from the tactical feel and turns it into more of a goofy light and sound show. My opinion anyway.

Because Bagpipes where never a thing used in warfare to gain a psychological advantage.

And Dazzle paint was never a thing used in warfare.

Speaking of bagpipes, we need Highland Pipes as a warhorn option. It's got plenty of precedent in the lore, too.

That's what I'd like as well, no point in bragging off to the world with a sound effect the fact that you just killed a player; it's derisive and juvenile. Having said that, I enjoy hearing the horn when I kill someone in one of my Light mechs; though no point in sounding it off; the deed is stated in Chat anyway, and at the End Screen the player can see for certain what mech the player that dealt the finishing blow was piloting.

It's not about bragging.

It's an imtimidation weapon. It's telling the rest of your victim's team mates that they're next. Two or three successive warhorn blasts make the enemy run away in panic <manical   >

I think they need to increase the audio range and make it add screen shake to all enemies within that range.

Possibly even have it do AOE damage.

But only if you can fit it inside an assault chassis

it would sound so cartoonish to hear it from a commando

For the Commando you'd probably want.....

This is so strange. People actually DO like warhorns?! The fact-pinions of a few vocal forum warriors are actually opinions?!?

My head's gonna 'splode.

I paid money to preorder a clan package for the warhorn to annoy people with it. I have a friend who bought the Heavy Metal simply because the sound effects were annoying. One of the reasons he quit the game was because they reduced the radius it's warhorn could be heard.

Yeaaahhhh, I don't think there are enough of those buyers to really get PGI concerned. Sorry.

I don't need to hear them a Kilometer out, but I enjoy hearing them nearby. Wish I owned one.

Now they have the juvenile warhorns, when are they implementing a "teabag" module?

Walk over the mech you just killed. Shut down and power up over his dead body repeatedly.

Or, so I've been told by someone I ran into in chat...

No, you're wrong. I enjoy my war horn. They were a great idea to begin with.

See, I can state an opinion as fact too!

Except he was addressing the people that don't want them forced on us.

The item is obviously meant for irritating/humiliating other people if it is heard by people that just got killed. The best thing to do with the horns is to have an on/off switch for them so if people find them irritating, they don't have to be heard, if people find them a bonus to the game, then they can.

Personally I think they're mindbogglingly stupid, as I would like the game to be more like a simulator than a COD game (yeah, not gonna happen I know) However if people want to listen to it, sure, let them hear, just don't force it on the rest of us.
