It's not about bragging.

It's an imtimidation weapon.

Uhh sure, people in the game are intimidated by warhorns.

I've seen enough PUGs who, after hearing double or tripple horns, stop dead on their tracks before running to know that they do exist. :P

love the Warhorns, just got mine from the event...but 35m is good. I'd rather hear the sounds from battle than a bunch of warhorns all the time. They are a good idea, but fine the way they are....

I love hearing my warhorn. Especially when it goes off 4-5 times in quick succession and if you're on the enemy team, that's usually a good sign that I'm coming for you next. I think that really creates a fun environment... But maybe I'm just lame!

Except he was addressing the people that don't want them forced on us.

The item is obviously meant for irritating/humiliating other people if it is heard by people that just got killed. The best thing to do with the horns is to have an on/off switch for them so if people find them irritating, they don't have to be heard, if people find them a bonus to the game, then they can.

Personally I think they're mindbogglingly stupid, as I would like the game to be more like a simulator than a COD game (yeah, not gonna happen I know) However if people want to listen to it, sure, let them hear, just don't force it on the rest of us.

False. He was implying that his opinion of war horns was fact. Looking at the responses on this thread, I'd say he's obviously wrong.

Seeing disco balls, fuzzy dice, Christmas lights, monkeys banging symbols, coffee mugs, flags of countries that don't exist in the BT universe, hula girls and coffee mugs in the cockpits of mechs that you are spectating doesn't feel very simulator-esque either. Why aren't you complaining about them?

would be good if it starts horning at every kill, which it sometimes doesn't

actually tehy should make them 300m again or more and make a checkbox called:

boring mode for lamers [ ]

they can check to deactivate the warhorn.

Everyone who plays has three friends who quit because either Paul, 12 man premades, or nerfs.....

Because 7 million players and counting.....

I think they need to increase the audio range and make it add screen shake to all enemies within that range.

Possibly even have it do AOE damage.

This would be awesome. LOL

Awn... I'm so sad because you must really hate when you die and hear the warhorn.
And you must die a lot to be so angry. =/

It's only 35 meters and the sound fail a lot of times.

Why put them in and make them have a smaller hearing radius than a Gauss cannon firing?

Title says it all. The warhorn was nerfed into oblivion. Only mechs within 35 meters are affected by it.

Dude, it's an (obnoxious) cosmetic. That's like saying your fernackin' paint scheme was "nerfed"

I have to say two things, I would enjoy it if you coul hear them from farther away and that I would pay good money for a whale WH for my DW.... It would never get old. The sound of my warhorn is a happy sound like the other day when I killed 6 guys in less than 2 mins it was going off non stop. It entertains the hell outta me.

Well they could up the range to like 200 meters but make it have a downside that you show up on radar while it's playing to targets that could hear you.

I think Warhorns should work differently depending on if they're in an IS or Clan mech.

If in an IS mech, it should have shorter range and be sped up so that its duration is half as long.

If in a Clan mech, it should have three times the duration IS does, overheat the mech each time used, and have twice the range.

On a more serious note, I feel like they did it bass-ackwards. They should have introduced the "Clan Animal" sounds to begin with, and then went with the "Joke Warhorns." Maybe it wouldn't have led to total immersion, but having a majority group of a certain clan using their signature clan sound, would be a little more epic than Lunchtruck or Envious Eardrum or wubstep horns. Instead of the majority of warhorns sounding cool or foreboding, with all due respect, they sound like an implied trollish "F*** you" instead.

If you think about it we kinda do have these. Isobaric Speakers (my personal favorite)

I love Isobaric :D. It's the only warhorn I spent MC on.

I like the -idea- behind the warhorns.

I think they should have been more horn of gondor though...less dubstep.

I support un~nerfing the warhorns!
I also support adding a switch for those who wish not to hear my beasty isobarics.
I wish my Death Knell upon all and I would love to hear the screams of the dying pilot as they burn in flames and choke on the smoke of their devastated mech.

Really why would one introduce a classy toy then turn it into a piece of skat? I do wish they were outside my mech and just looked like a trumpet horn or a sound nodule.

I'm still working on the science of how something mounted inside the cockpit can blast sound that's heard outside and not destroy the pilot's eardrums...

With all due respect, once you've bypassed the logical paradox of how hundreds of missiles and ammunition in a mech's toes travels up its legs and hips into its torso and out its arms and finally out of a launcher, then just put this one in the same logic bin.

Warhorns are great.

If your whole team runs them, they become both a challenge and a motivating call that lets you know how well you're doing against the other team.

And if people are so mentally fragile that hearing a horn 'mocks' them so much they get angry and can't play anymore, all the better.

If such things could so easily unsettle people, I'll start lobbying for PGI to add 'trash talk' MC only taunts to the kill messages, which would replace the generic kill message with things like:

'XXX has removed YYY from the Trueborn gene pool'.

I think if they implement them well, like Warhorns were, it'd be a source of free money for PGI..

I find the idea of a noise maker on kills that everyone can hear perfectly acceptable, or only range but not super short.
