Has anyone mentioned the Linebacker? First produced in 3052 but is fully 3050 tech compliant and is a 65t fast heavy omni with endo and ferro. Also looks to have a wide range of loadouts.

Could be a quicker and lighter alt to the Timby? I think it looks good and ticks all the criteria for the missing Wave 3 heavy mech.

Clan Wave 4. ;)

If theres ONE Clan mech that I really want (besides the IS Thor), its the Cougar https://www.google.n...iw=1600&bih=785

As far as I know, its based on the Adder/Puma but its a bit slower, though it does have more firepower and IMO a much better look.

Running that slow, it could be useful in CW, but not in Public games.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL the Fafnir... Can't wait to pilot it, was my favourite mech on MW 4 Mercenaries. It would be awesome if there is Large Continuous Beam Lasers here too.

Russ said they will stick with the mech pack release system, so I'm posting here a list of suggestions/predictions for the next packs.

(this is already in the Ultimate Mech Discussion Thread, but I think it deserves its own dedicated topic)

Clan Wave III (featuring Clan Smoke Jaguar and Clan Ghost Bear favorites. Timeline: 3050):

- Light: Arctic Cheetah/Hankyu - signature Smoke Jaguar mech
- Medium: Viper/Dragonfly - very common, early invader, Ghost Bear favorite medium mech
- Heavy: Ebon Jaguar/Cauldron-Born - iconic, signature Smoke Jaguar mech
- Assault: Kingfisher - very old design, still used by CGB and CSJ - and a rare 90 tons Clanner
Reinforcement/Reward: Huntsman/Nobori-nin

Comstar Defender Pack:

- Light: Mongoose, Thorn (or Jackrabbit) - the Jackrabbit needs a third variant
- Medium: Sentinel, Wyvern (or Crab)
- Heavy: Black Knight, Excalibur (or Champion) - the Excalibur needs a third variant
- Assault: Cyclops, Pillager (or Emperor) - both the Pillager and the Emperor need a third variant
Reinforcements/Reward: Thug, Crockett

Clan Wave ?, "Overdrive" (early omnimechs, but all need the implementation of MASC):

- Light: Fire Moth/Dasher - the problem is: the Fire Moth might be too fast for the game engine
- Medium: Shadow Cat
- Heavy: Woodsman - needs a third omni configuration
- Assault: Executioner/Gladiator

Underdog Guerrilla* Pack: (IS is throwing everything they have against the Clans)

- Light: UrbanMech, Javelin
- Medium: Assassin, Dervish
- Heavy: Lancelot, Merlin (or BattleAxe, or Hammerhands) - both the BattleAxe and Hammerhands need a third variant, but adding any would be a joy for Warhammer fans
- Assault: Charger, Mackie (!) - now just image the original mech in a MW game...
Reinforcements/Reward: Clint, Hermes II, Vulcan

*Some of these chassis might be considered lackluster, so here is a suggestion for monetizing this:
$30: 1st tier, 2 light mechs
$60: 2nd tier, 2 light mechs + 2 medium mechs
$90: 3rd tier, 2 light mechs + 2 medium mechs + 2 heavy mechs
$120: top tier, 2 light + 2 medium + 2 heavy + 2 assault
Reinforcements: $35 or $40: 3 extra medium mechs

Clan Wave IV (featuring Clan Wolf and Clan Jade Falcon favorites. Timeline: 3052):

- Light: Fire Falcon
- Medium: Phantom
- Heavy: Linebacker
- Assault: Turkina
Reinforcement/Reward: Night Gyr

Wolf Dragoons Pack:

- Light: Firefly (or Falcon)
- Medium: Hoplite
- Heavy: Flashman (or Gallowglas, depending on the timeline)
- Assault: Annihilator
Reinforcements/Reward: Imp, Shogun

Clan Second Line Garrison Pack (early Clan non-omni mechs - most need extra variants):

- Light: Piranha, Horned Owl/Peregrin (or Incubus/Vixen)
- Medium: Vapor Eagle/Goshawk, Conjurer/Hellhound
- Heavy: Grizzly, Glass Spider/Galahad (or Black Python/Viper)
- Assault: Supernova, Kodiak
Reinforcements/Reward: Bane/Kraken, Stone Rhino/Behemoth

Payback Pack (featuring high-tech mechs to fight the Clans, some without 3 variants - which is not a problem anymore. Timeline: ~3054):

- Light: Wolfhound
- Medium: Bushwacker
- Heavy: Penetrator
- Assault: Devastator
Reinforcement/Reward: Hatamoto, Mauler (Mauler variants are complicated, but a workaround is not impossible)

Clan Wave V (later omnimechs. Timeline: 3060):

- Light: Hellion (needs MASC) or Cougar
- Medium: Black Lanner (needs MASC) or Mongrel/Grendel
- Heavy: Nova Cat
- Assault: Blood Asp
Reinforcement/Reward: Pouncer

Melee Pack (after adding melee weapons. Timeline: ~3060):

- Light: Scarabus (needs extra variants)
- Medium: Hatchetman
- Heavy: Axman
- Assault: Berserker
Reinforcement/Reward: No-Dachi.

Vengeance Revenge Pack (with IS mechs from the Mechwarrior 4 series. Timeline: ~3064):

- Light: Osiris
- Medium: Uziel
- Heavy: Argus (or Thanatos)
- Assault: Fafnir
Reinforcements/Reward: Hellspawn, Chimera

IS Omni Counter Strike Pack (Timeline: ~3064):

- Light: Owens (or Raptor, or Actic Fox) - Owens has Single Heat Sinks
- Medium: Strider (or Men-Shen) - Strider has Single Heat Sinks
- Heavy: Avatar
- Assault: Sunder
Reinforcements/Reward: Templar, Hauptmann

Clan Refits* (least exciting pack, and would need extra new variants):

- Light: Commando IIC
- Medium: Hunchback IIC
- Heavy: Orion IIC
- Assault: Highlander IIC

*Considered by the devs (Russ Town Hall Meeting #3)

And, last but not least, with the mechs that are waiting to return to the computer games since 1989, the Holy Grail of diehard Battletech fans, the Project Phoenix II: (OK, only in our dreams)

- Light: Wasp, Stinger (or Valkyrie)
- Medium: Phoenix Hawk, Ostroc (or Ostsol)
- Heavy: Marauder, Warhammer
- Assault: Longbow, Marauder II
Reinforcements/Reward: Archer, Crusader, Rifleman

Other possible packs: Lostech Pack (with very old or almost extinct designs, like the Rampage), Gladiator Pack (with Solaris mechs from the Technical Readout 3055 Upgrade, preferably after adding melee to the game), IS MASC Pack (with Flea, finally), a "Twilight of the Clans" Pack (with Crimson Langur and Tomahawk), and maybe even Faction-specific packs, like the proposed "Sword and Sunburst" Pack...

What do you think?

What do I think?

I think people need to put "projected/suggested" in their forum title so as to not waste others precious time by others that's purely based on theoryfapping.

My theories use to come reality since June 2012 (see the Ultimate Mech Discussion Thread).

And if there is anything absurd in the original post, you are free to correct me.

Didn't think the Linebacker looked that bad to be honest but I'm not from the TT days sooooo...

So many ways MASC can be implemented, like really. I'm guessing the sticking point is the Fire Moth's insane turbo speed. At least I hope it's not about the implementation...

But anyway, my Wave 3:

Light: Fire Moth (20T)
Medium: Viper (40T)
Heavy: Ebon Jaguar (65T)
Assault: Executioner (95T)

Bonus for Wave 1, 2 and 3 purchasers - Kingfisher (90T)

Reasons? Because Wave 3 is all about finishing off the invasion mechs. I put the missing heavy as the Ebon Jaguar/Cauldron Born as that seems to be one of the most popular mechs from that timeframe?

As a bonus I chose the Kingfisher even though it's very low on spare weight thanks to the standard engine. It's the only 90T omni available within the tech level as far as I know. Not that you'd choose it over a Warhawk if you had 90T remaining in your drop deck but still at least all weights are now catered for in one way or another. Having said that, there's nothing stopping PGI from changing the engine to an XL is there? That's all the Kingfisher needs to bring it up to spec.

miss my Cougar from mw4, iirc I put a big engine in it to do 130kph used to dfa assault mechs going full throttle and knock them over, unless there ct was crit then they just exploded on impact. with 3 erll Cougar made a good sniper, fire at a mech, make it squat and shut down, I could be out in the open and nobody would see the mech shut down kneeling on the ground, good fun.

Actually it need a huge leap forward in game years long before MASC is an issue. mid 3060s... You wont see it

That would be terrific. Seeing finally all 3050 Clan Omnimech in a MW game is an achievement.
But I'm just afraid the combination MASC + Fire Moth would melt the game engine.

Unfortunately, you can't change omnimechs' engine sizes in MWO. So, the Cougar won't be that good.
TBH, I think engines should be unlocked (same argument as ES and FF): the only chassis to benefit from it are the inferior ones, like the Kit Fox, Adder, Mist Lynx and Gargoyle.

Maybe in about 2 years PGI start to do serious time leaps to cover the MW4 mechs. They will need to do it, if they want to continue releasing attractive chassis.

Continuing the analysis of the Wave 3 candidates:

Ebon Jaguar (Cauldron Born)

Endo Steel, Ferro Fibrous, 86.4 km/h
Free weight after max armor: 28.5 tons.

The Cauldron Born (contrary to the other Clan mechs, this is probably the only one know best by its IS name, even for the other Clans) has ES and FF and a great selection of hardpoints, making it a good platform for dual Gauss Rifle and other simetrical loadouts. The mech has an interesting profile and its success will depend largely on the hitboxes.

Variants to be in the game should be Primary, A and C omniconfigurations. The B could be added as extra (to give that one more energy hardpoint in the right torso).

The Mad Cat MK II is a Clan battlemech (not omni) far ahead in the timeline. First variant 3066, second 3069 and third 3082.

I don't say it will never be in the game, but it would need a timeleap of at least 20 years and the introduction of some new technologies.

A curious Clan assault omnimech with standard engine, the Kingfisher would be a powerful zombie mech with an ER PPC, a Large Pulse Laser or 2x ER Large Lasers in the center torso. It doesn't have much pod space (24 tons, with armor full - at least more than the Gargoyle's 19.5), so it excels as a laser boat (can carry up to 10 energy weapons).

The variants in the game should be: Primary, A and B, with the C as a 4th variant.

Not saying it's not possible, but it's not just a new mech, but it would involve the addition of several new weapons and technology...

actually it doesn't use very much future tech if any.
has endo.
Standard armor
and XL engine
Gauss
LRMs
Tag and LAMS

The only thing we don't have is LAMS

some of the other variants might use future tech but the main one is perfectly possible now
