I wonder if those spikes relate to release dates of the MW games (but I am too lazy too google)

Come on, man... I need to go to bed, I'm recording one of the hardest pieces in the saxophone repertoire tomorrow... :P

Age spikes are at 19, 25, 32, and 42.
Subtracting 15 years from each to account for pre-battletech childhood, each of the spikes would have been exposed to some BT release in their teen years this many years ago: 4, 10, 17, 27.
Those correspond to the years: 2010, 2004, 1997, 1987, when they were all age 15.

1984: BT
1987: BTmag
1989: MW
1994: BTcartoon
1995: MW2
1998: MC
1999: MW3
2000: MW4
2001: MC2
2009: MWLL
2012: MWO

So perhaps. The youngest crowd might have come from MWLL, the age 25 group might have been around towards the end of MW3, Vengeance, and Mech Commander 2, our largest spike comes from approximately MW2 time (undoubtedly when that game was shipping with PCs... ), and the oldest spike lines up favourably with when the BattleTechnology magazine and the original MW game came out.

Holy sh*t I'm right on the money. Never thought I'd be demographically representative of a gaming community or at least the forum community. Now this begs a further question...

If we are mostly around 32-33 and adults why do we act like morons and can't get a decent debate going without it always devolving into juvenile bi*ch-slapping and electronic di*k measuring?

Sh*t. I honestly thought the forum community is like this because they are a bunch of kids...Strange realization.

Seriously PGI Di*k is a name to you know?

Just have to say that I find it refreshing to see so many other that are 30+, 35+, 40+, and especially 45+. :D

I'm also wondering...for those that could play and that remember...how many people that played MW2 Grand Council online when a 33.6k modem was considered the fastest connection?

29 started with table top in the late 90's around my early teens. I actually fell in love with the art and learned the game as a byproduct. Played the Mechwarrior titles since the SNES (still love that game) though I did skip Mech Assault (both) and Mechwarrior 4 (only played mercs). Mech Commander is still my fav out of the runs.

Joined the ranks of BattleTech in 1986. Now I am 48. Literally playing in this universe more than half my life.

Saw this and felt compelled to note that your BattleTech career is literally as old as I am... :P

28, got started with MW:2 on Playstation and the BattleTech TCG. Unfortunately never played TT and now I can't get MegaMek to work on my computer for some reason... Sad Panda.

wow, not what i was expecting given some forum discussions i've come across.... :P

27

started with....crap i don't remember...SNES mechwarrior? but that was just a cool game...i wasn't hooked until MW2Mercs....that was the SH** back in the day played the bejuzzus out of it...then i found MW2 at a store...played the heck out of that(did that backwards, i know) then once 3 came out, bought it same day... played the heck out of that(probably still my favorite). then MW4:V, then MW4:BK, played the heck out of those......then...MW4mercs...i must have played through that 100 times. was still playing it on and off when MekTek came out with their stuff...then this happened, signed up as soon as i heard about it. didn't have a computer that could play it. but i was around, then somewhere around open beta i bought my alienware(don't get too excited, base model, but hey, still an alienware before it was a Dell)

all the while, when i could get friends together, played TT a bit, and the Mechwarrior PnP RPG was loads of fun.
